Just watched a clip on ESPN where Steve Nicol lists his top 5 wish list for LFC transfers.
1. DeLigt - says he'd be an instant starter - clearly didn't watch Gomez first half of last season.
2 - Coutinho - say no more
3 James Maddison
4 Sessegnon - fair enough
5 Fekir - his last pick

Nicol, hell of a player, awful pundit.

Why did you even watch it then? Everyone knows he’s terrible. Steve Nicol gets mentioned on here more than most current players.

Thunderbird, you ever get a really bad smell on your hand? You know it's bad, but you can't help re-smelling that stink.

Being American, we are regularly subjected to Steve. He is seen as an expert quite possibly on the basis that he calls it football rather than soccer and once played the sport competitively (this is absolutely a requirement for NBA, but I digress) . He also has an accent which we like (perhaps the most baffling part of it all) . We have amazing punditry in the states. I used to love when Tim Howard reported on Liverpool games whilst still employed by Everton.

Spot on, Amerigo. Lived in the States for near 15 years (moved to Brussels in 2017) and hearing Tim Howard commentate on LFC games was quite funny esp. if LFC wins, he always found a way of masking his apparent disgust and never overtly praised us after we won games.

As for Steve Nicol, he is dreadful and he allows his emotions to get the better of him. Also, he just parrots what we all already know about football esp. when it comes to transfers. He just picks up on the rumours we all see in the papers and the internet and runs with it. You should see what he is like when discussing Divvy Origi. His outright contempt for the lad (even before his late season heroics) is palpable and now that Origi after his heroics is staying, it has gotten even worse, saying LFC made a mistake resigning him and that he is a poor footballer. Great player but he is a dreadful pundit.
