Seen some posts the other day thinking a big deal is done and will be announced on the 1st of July. Prepare for the disappointment lads.

The further we move forward without any signings, gives me more clarity with how well placed we now are.

The days are gone were the summer was about replacing key members of the squad, fixing gaping holes in the team or making signings fitting in with a lack of investment

If we want someone we will sign them. Not signing isn't the owners not investing in the team or Jk but that Jk and the recruitment haven't asked for someone yet, although when they did it was carried out with the finest of efficiency. SVDB.

Come opening day we will be ready to give everything we have, challenging for the Premier league title, Champions league 'again', Fa cup, Carabao cup, charity shield, super cup and CWC.

Ultimately we fell short over 38 games last season and will likely fall short again if we don’t improve the shortcomings in our squad. Standing still is moving backwards.

Why will we? We have a young squad that will improve with time together. Fabinho is our best cdm and didn’t play much until Christmas. Ox will be back. Keita didn’t make much of an impact and should push on. Gomez missed the second half of the season. Trent is 20, and was on fire at the end of the season with crosses and dead balls, at the start his crossing wasn’t at the level it is now, he’s massively improved in that area, could get more assists this year, meaning more goals. Also city have lost kompany, who is a leader and silva Fernandinho and aguero are another year the wrong side of thirty. Yes they have young talent too, but I believe sterling is as good as he’s going to get, I’d just be wary that Bernardo might be best in the league soon and de Bruyne might be fit the whole season.

Depends were you want to look.

Fabinho
Oxlade
Keita
Gomez

That's 4 players who will be here opening day. 1 we lost half way through the previous campaign, 1 we didn't have and 2 took a while to settle and even get in the team.

We took city all the way with Fabinho and Gomez for half a season each. Keita sporadically and without the ox.

I'm with you Brick. I think years ago, that was the case with Liverpool; adding players that weren't improving the squad as much, though there were a few good additions among them.

This isn't standing still. Far from it. I believe the club is trying to add sensibly, not simply add for the sake of it.

Tottenham held their team together and made no changes in the last two windows and that worked out for them. Sometimes keeping a young hungry team together and adding a few small pieces can be all a team needs. We have a young squad and players will be more comfortable with each other next year. We also get Ox back which is a huge bonus.

Rhian Brewster
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Naby Keita
Harry Wilson
Adam Lallana
5 players who contributed little or nothing in 2018/ 19 for various reasons and who could add something next season.

Saying injured players are like new signings is all well and good but it’s likely some players who played the majority of this season will be injured for large parts of the coming season so is that like selling them?
Apart from a centre back crisis around the turn of the year I thought we got fairly lucky with injuries. Might not be the case this year so I think we need to add to the squad, the problem is attracting the type of player we want/ need when they know they are not going to be regulars. IMO our biggest need is someone who can rotate with the front 3 and not be a huge drop off in quality. Who would that be? Fekir seems the most realistic, Cornet I’m not sure is all that, the likes of Pepe, Lozano and Neres will want to be regulars surely?
I think this window will be intriguing, I don’t see a lot of action but no action could see us left behind, Klopp has said they need to ‘splash the cash’ but that could be him blowing hot air.

Four of those were injured last season, Thunderbird. Who knows which players might be injured in the year ahead. We need to make sure that we have strength in depth. Instead of shoe-horning Milner, Fab or Gomez at fullback we need reliable attacking wingbacks in case Trent or Robbo are out for long periods. Origi is a good alternative up front as something different but if one of the front 3 snap a cruciate our attack will not be the same.
We shouldn't need to fork out multi-millions on Dybala or Dembele but there are certainly a few positions where we are a bit lightweight should injuries occur.

Ultimately, in a quick sound bite. We don't NEED to sign anyone. Quality is always appreciated and none of us would complain if we made some big signings, but for the first window in a long time, i don't feel the need to sign anyone and im not worried about losing anyone.

And we're European champions! Best summer (football wise) for as long as i can remember.

It sounds like your just trying to convince yourselves we don't need anybody when history shows we do, city win a treble yet look like adding at least 2 significant signings to there squad, your all in for a very disappointing season if we don't evolve and freshen up the squad and how do you expect to beat a team to the title with the same squad that couldn't do it last season especially when they look like adding significant players to there side. Just ask yourself those questions and if your still happy to go with what we have then you need to take the red tinted spectacles off.

Jraz, what a terrible shout. Spurs won nothing and scrambled into the top four on the back of a lack of investment, unless you were being sarcastic that's an awful comparison.

OP, I would not want us to do a Spurs for sure as that is just unacceptable and Klopp isn't that stupid. besides, it's not that Spurs deliberately did not sign anyone. They just could not get who they wanted. If my memory serves me well, Spurs wanted Xaha (Palace wanted 80m) and Jack Grealish of Villa BUT could not get those deals done. I even recall Steve Bruce (then Villa manager) poking fun at Spurs for them not doing enuff to get Grealish. Just wanted to put that out there.

We need options at FB, GK (if Migs leaves) and a versatile forward. The Ed's have said we are tracking players in these areas and there is interest. Who knows? May be we have deals done BUT not yet announced so in the end, not worried cos I will be shocked out of my skin if we sign nobody. Enjoy your summer holidays, lads.
