A good summer in my opinion would be:
Mignolet out, David Marshall in.
Lovren out, Diego Lloriente in.
Lallana out, Fekir in.
Sturridge out, Cornet in.

Lewis to cover left back.
Hoever to cover right back.
Brewster to cover the front 3.

Piece of cake 😂.

{Ed002's Note - No Salah replacement then?}

no need ED002, Mane will step up to the plate in that regard.

We currently have Hendo, Fabinho, Wiji, Milner, Ox, Keita, Shaqiri, and Lallana on the books - all fighting for 3 positions. I wouldn't expect any more midfielders to come in unless 3 of those leave. Even though I like Shaqiri and Keita, they aren't really Klopp type midfielders so I could see him moving them on (maybe a loan move for Keita? ), and Lallana isn't really good enough, in my opinion.

I can see Klopp looking to move on Lovren, simply because Gomez and Matip are better defenders, and they work well alongside VVD. He would need to bring in a replacement though, preferably someone experienced.

I would like to see Klopp bring in a Sturridge replacement, preferably someone similar to Bobby, who can play the false 9 role. As for a wide player, I am sure Klopp will be looking to add to Mané and Salah, rather than replace one of them.

A backup for Alisson will be needed if Migs leaves, but I'd be happy to keep Migs in the squad. Backup fullbacks are also needed, preferably experienced players.

I don't want to see Gomez, Milner or Hendo having to play fullback next season, we need adequate cover brought in to allow them to focus on their preferred positions. I would like us to bring in a box to box midfielder who can also provide a bit more creativity than the midfielders we currently have, but again that seems unlikely unless there are several midfield departures.

Don't take things lightly. Mbappe is quoted today in the press as saying that he was staying put with PSG for next season. I see that (if it is true) as the main obstacle being removed for Salah to continue his pursuit of Real Madrid.

ArAy1969, I believe the main obstacle would actually be Bale.

Ed2 you just bitter that your team Chelsea sold him an missed out on his talents?

{Ed002's Note - Try not to be a complete cretin. Firstly Liverpool fans used to have a sense of humour - it is clear that is degrading with with sponge life like you. Secondly, because of Real Madrid pushing for someone else, RAI has again been knocking on the door. maybe if you had half a brain you could ask an appropriate question rather than embarrass yourself. I try to explain things honestly but it is made difficult by the vegetables like you.}

Salah don't need replacing. He done ok this year. Let's give him one more chance next season and if he's trash let's ditch him and replace.

Klopp sanctioned a £50 odd million payout and waited a year for Keita, but Keita isn't a Klopp type player?
The mind boggles, it really does.

Does anyone else think that ed2 is ed25 on a bad day? lol chill eds, it's a joke!

also I think we're are putting too much stock into Hoever. He can't even train full-time and we talking about him covering fullback in the first team? c'mon lol let the kid grow up and be able to buy a beer first dang.

{Ed025's Note - i wish faith.. :)

he is definitely a klopp player. if he stays injury free and starts the new season like he finished the last, the rest of the league won't know what's hit them.

FlashTheRed Klopp likes his midfielders to work hard both on and off the ball. However, based on last season, Keita lacks energy and work rate off the ball, hence why Hendo, Wijnaldum, and Milner are selected ahead of him. Maybe it's an attitude thing, I don't know.

As talented as he is, the headache for Klopp is figuring out how he can incorporate him into his plans for next season without having to change the system. The same applies to Shaqiri, who was brilliant last season playing in the 10 role, but when Klopp switched back to his preferred 433 there there was nowhere for him to play. Neither of them have the quality of Hendo, Wiji, and Milner when it comes to pressing and working hard off the ball, so they won't often start ahead of those 3 players in the 433. So where do you play them in the 433? In the 4231 play either of them in the 10 role with license to roam, no problem, but in the 433, clearly Klopp prefers grafters.

It's a similar problem to Coutinho at Barce (and indeed for us in seasons gone by) . Coutinho is at his best when he plays in midfield, but because he has no defensive side to his game, he is often played out wide, which only hinders him from performing to the best of his ability. These types of players (i. e. those who aren't as effective off the ball), need to play in a system where they are not shackled to a demanding role. They need freedom to do their thing without having to worry too much about defending and pressing.

This is why Keita and Shaqiri, despite their qualities, aren't Klopp type players.

Keita had no problems working hard on or off the ball at RBL - it was one of the reasons I liked him as a signing. I reckon its more a case that he hasn't been properly fit for most of the year as to why he hasn't been picked consistently eg every time he looked like he was going to get a run of games he got another injury. The concern for me is this run of soft tissue injuries could be an indication that he isn't fit enough to cope with the intensity of training - might need to put in some hard yards off the field (like Mane) if he wants to force his way in. No free handouts.

Keita and Shaqiri are nothing like each other. Keita hasn’t settled 100% yet but I expect him to be very important next season.

I’m terms of transfers, all we need is
1) cover at FB
2) cover at GK if Migs goes
3) cover for the wingers, preferably someone who can also play attacking mid. Fekir perfect for me, but failing him is rather have a wide forward than an AM given we have OX and Keita

That’s it so far as I’m concerned unless someone leaves (eg. if Lovren goes for more game time)

I was comparing Shaqiri and Keita to our centre midfielders not to each other SGRed. I agree Phil, at RBL he looked a much better player, maybe he just needs to buy into Klopps philosophy, but right now, he doesn't seem ready for this level. Hopefully, he will prove me wrong this season.

Keita has never been playing no.10 in his career so that holds no context. You say coutinho plays best in midfield, I think he's played his worst football in midfield, was always at his best for us from the wide left, and Barcelona have tried to fit him in midfield but he fails there regularly. Keita is perfect for a 3 man midfield, his worst form was in our 4231, he actually looked good late in season with that aggressive 3 man midfield.
