I'd be straight in for Leicester's former recruitment head, what is Brodge thinking.

Frank Leboeuf, saying what we're all thinking! Cheers Ed, here's to celebrating at 5pm today, or whatever time that equates to wherever all you reds are!

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed!}

Thanks for all the reviews and match reports throughout the season. I know we sometimes disagree but I appreciate all the work that goes into the site from all the ed's.

I am not really nervous about today, more hopeful. I doubt City will drop points but as we know anything is possible. Wolves is a tough game for us as well. I think I will be a lot more nervous come the final as we are expected to win.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

Thanks ed001 and well said Le Boeuf. 👏
What he did to Ghana at the World Cup I don’t class as cheating. I class that as committing a foul in order to win. It’s better than hacking a player done with a clear goal scoring chance. He didn’t threaten injury to anyone.
Ghana’s mistake was missing the penalty and I feel sad they lost that game.

{Ed001's Note - how can it not be classed as cheating? It was as blatant a case of cheating as his diving, biting or kicking of Robbo. So what if it doesn't threaten to injure someone, that does not make it any less of a cheat.}

I don’t think it was cheating because he got penalised to the letter of the law.
If that’s cheating then by extension every foul on the pitch is cheating.
He’s certainly a cheat, no doubt, but the Ghana incident is a tricky one.
Was Trent handballing it on the line against Newcastle cheating? He didn’t get penalised because the goal was scored.

{Ed001's Note - not every foul is cheating, you can foul someone by accident. Cheating is deliberately breaking the laws of the game. Every deliberate foul is a form of cheating yes. If Trent deliberately handballed it on the line then he cheated, regardless of whether or not he was penalised for it. There is nothing tricky about the Ghana incident, he knowing broke the laws of the game to influence the result of the match. He cheated. Blatantly cheated. If people would stop calling it other things and started pointing out that it is cheating, perhaps we would get a little less of it. I get sick of hearing imbecilic ex-pros commentating and calling cheating a 'tactical foul' or 'clever play'. It is cheating and should be called such.}

Cheers for that ed mate. Great to hear what Leboeuf said and I totally agree, though I do find his words just a little ironic in that he’d “do anything”, still though nice to see someone calling out behavior like that. Have an unexpectedly incredibly great day.

Think im with ron on this one ed. Im not attacking your opinion her just giving mine.

Suarez can with no difficulty absolutely be called a cheat. But i think if it had have been another player in that game the backlash would not have been so great.

Taking todays games for example if kompany was to deliberately handle the ball on the line get sent off and brighton miss a penalty that cost us the league i wouldn't be running about calling kompany a cheat.

Henry's hand ball against ireland would be far more worthy of a cheating lable imo.

Diving when not touched, simulating injuries when they haven't occured are cheating.

I can understand why people see it the other way and that's fair enough.

Deliberate hand ball on the line is much like taking a player down when he's clean through. Player knows he's decieving no one and that he's going to be sent off.

In that match against ghana if a defender had have taken a ghana player down who was clean through and was sent off. There would have been no cheat backlash whatsover.

Thanks for all the daily reports over the year ed and im looking foward to the wolves match report after having won the league. Your had work is very much appreciated by all im sure.

{Ed001's Note - this is a stupid argument. It doesn't matter how much any of you argue, it is cheating by the definition of the word.}

Agree 100% Ed - it drives me mad when defenders pull back attackers going past them and it’s referred to as a tactical foul or ‘taking one for the team’. It’s a blatant cheat and should never be seen as anything but unacceptable and deliberate breaking of the laws for undeserved gain.

{Ed001's Note - exactly.}

Come on guys, this is crazy thinking. There are no technicalities here, it is straightforward cheating.

I've felt for a while that a deliberate foul with no attempt to play the ball is cheating and should be a straight red, not a yellow.
We call them "tactical fouls" and say "you get one" but it's cheating and completely out of the spirit of the game.
If the opposition team are about to break away, that's your fault for committing too many players to an attack and losing the ball. You deserve to concede in those cases and should not be allowed to foul someone deliberately and know its only going to be a yellow card.

SG red

I guess every footballer who has ever played is a cheat then because the isn't a footballer on the planet who hasn't pulled another player back at some point.

Is a player stealing 5 yards on a throw in or kicking a ball when its rolling cheating too? A push by the defender or attacker on a corner?

Why was harry kane not labeled a cheat by the media after the liverpool game at anfield when he took a freekick when the ball was moving. By your defination any breaking of the rules is cheating and therefore a cheat is a cheat no matter what. Why is so much talked about suarez handball when it was just a breaking of the rules like any of the other 30 or 40 incidents that happen every single game.

My point is cheating is a very harsh word for a lot of things that go on on a football pitch.

{Ed001's Note - how is it harsh when it is the correct use of the word? Perhaps players should start abiding by the rules and then we wouldn't have all these arguments over how bad officials are, when it is in large part players making it difficult for them.}

One of the various definitions given on Webster's, for cheating, is "to violate rules dishonestly". It is clear that intent to violate the rules is part of cheating, because as said here, non-intended acts or accidental acts couldn't really be classified as cheating even though they violated the rules. Even though a non-intended act can clearly still be a foul. So there you have it. Figure out if there is intent, and then you have your answer as to whether there is cheating or not.

You say its nit cheating, but most posters been complaining how man city been cheating by makung fouls to stop teams getting through? So they cheat but other teams dont, or is it only cheating when it effects us lol.

Wolverine, Ay Ay has it in one, the question is intent. A mistimed tackle is completely different to a deliberate breaking of the rules in the way dragging back a player going past you is. It should never be encouraged to become an acceptable part of the game.
