I would be very interested to hear which fans from another club would think their team played well after getting beaten 3-0.

It’s not just Liverpool fans, it’s the general consensus in the media too. I’m discounting the last 10 minutes as we got desperate and got lucky not to concede another but over the rest of the game I thought we controlled the majority of the game and 1-0 was harsh scoreline at the time but 3-0 was heart breaking.

You make a decent point and Barcelona deserved the win but I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a match where Barcelona were bullied off the ball for so much of the match, their passing fell apart from pressing and most of their runs were cut off so effectively. I think a wilier team would have punished them last night and I’m hoping we learn from it. You might disagree and that’s fair enough but I genuinely think we relaxed, despite the threat on the break and the lads just continued racing forward instead of keeping them pinned back. They did us and that’s football though. Not sure we’ve got three goals in us for the return leg but we’ll give it a go.

Brendan used to say that after (heavy) defeats - “we controlled the game”.

It's football and this kind of thing can happen. The fact we are not used to it shows how far we have come. We should be proud of our players for the effort they have put in all season.
An early goal for us in Anfield and it's game on.

aoe It just shows you haven't seen Barcelona for a very very long time.

This is their new version under velverde. They've sacrificed their swag and possession for substance under he's management.

In fact in he's couple of yrs he was criticised left right and centre by their fans and media but now it's normal for them.

even small teams in laliga run rings around them most of the times. But they only need 2/ 3 chances to kill you.

There's a reason a lot of plpl say they're not what they were few yrs back coz if u see them week in week out that's how most of the games they play. In fact if needed they can even go defensive and just keep on lumping the ball forward.

Admittedly I haven’t seen them very much this season at all apart from highlights, but if that is their chosen style then their fans must be far far more forgiving than they used to be. I’m not opposed to defensive football but I would imagine there is a split in fans opinion if that’s the route they continue with in the long run. On a personal note, even though I don’t like the club, I think it’s a shame that there is (imo) ugly football chosen to be played there. It just seems wrong.

{Ed001's Note - the fans don't like or want Valverde.}

Winning is winning, if they add the CL to the league the fans will get over it. Ron’s right about Rogers, he used to spout that nonsense all the time.
All I’m reading are IFs, they had ifs too on top of the 3 they put past us. We seemed to play like we did against City and that didn’t work out either. It’s not the same game as it was 10 or 20 years ago, we should have started with our best team and took it to them, if Bobby wasn’t fit why put him on the bench.
We have the front three and if any get injured or lose form there’s nothing there, need to rectify that if we want to compete next season again with a City and in CL.
Also although not his biggest fan ahendo has played really well lately in a more attacking role, yet didn’t seem to play that far up last nite.
We go again next week and we dream for a perfect performance from the team.
