ED001 hi mate hope your well
if and it is a massive if we are interested in Julian Brandt then surely this woulld mean Shaqiri leaving
or could you see both possibly in the squad alongside ox.

{Ed001's Note - there is a need for both imo.}

The beauty with brandt is he can play anywhere across the front 3 and cm. I also think we have been very fortunate with injuries to our attackers this season. Whether that’s to do with or sport scientists or not I’m not sure but I’m with Ed here. We also will be aiming to go further than our first rounds in the fa and carling cup.

{Ed001's Note - we do need more options so that we can start looking to win everything we enter, as we should do.}

I was mulling over the same Johncrow. Just felt as though with Ox coming back, potentially Brandt coming in (who I think would be an excellent buy), Wilson returning, Brewster returning to full fitness and Origi staying, that more often than not there might not even be a place on the bench for Shaq.

Lallana with leave as well I would have thought so these more space.

Cheers for the reply ed and yes Iron dan im thinking he might struggle for even bench time shaqiri but the sqaud is definitely not as strong as city so maybe he might stay but brandt 100 percent I want and timo wener if possible but not at the expense of brewster so if they can all be fitted in then happy days lol.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

He can play CM? I have him as forward Ed more than a midfielder?

6.) 15 Apr 2019

I think it would be one or the other johncrow, highly unlikely to be both.

Yes Virgil he has played cm/ cam the majority of this season. Him and Havertz have both played in the middle with Lars bender playing deep in a 433 although they are very suspect defensively.

Last season our squad wasnt big enough. Or it didn't have enough class in it. This year we have improved massively but i don't think brandt coming should mean shaqiri leaves. If anyone i wpuld guess lallana. Or none of them. We need to continue building a squad full of class players. Shaq has class, i would keep him. And it was shaqiri who klopp picked up and hugged after salah's goal. He is always the first sub up on his feet when we score. I think he will stay.

Surely Brandt coming in would spell the end of Origis time at Liverpool?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Would surely spell the end for Wilson though. I hope we give him shot, I live in Notts and my Derby mates rave about him.

I think a premier league loan is best for Wilson’s development rtid.

Is Origi staying?

Brandt can play in attacking midfield or left/ right attacking midfield. He's not much of a forward in a front 3, in my opinion. He doesn't look to run in behind as aggressively as Mane, Salah, Firmino and Origi. More likely he would be considered a replacement for Lallana and/ or Shaqiri, for when Klopp wants to go with a 4-2-3-1 (which was a lot before he gave up on Shaq) . Brandt would be a great signing if we pulled it off.

MK, the switch to 4-2-3-1 was apparently less to do with Shaqiri and more to do with Fabinho. I'd heard the Klopp and the other coaching staff felt as though Fabinho needed some extra support in the midfield while he adjusted to both the premier league and what was being asked of him by Klopp. He was then deemed ready and we switched back our more traditional system.

if you look at the squad, we lack the most depth in the forwards with Mané, Firmino and Salah almost untouchable, then a notable gap to Origi, Sturridge and Brewster. I agree with Ed we don’t need Shaq to leave to create space, he can take the place of Sturridge and he’d add a lot to being able to rotate our front three IMO.

In the midfield we’re very well stocked and can afford to let Lallana go IMO given we have Fabinho, Hendo, Keita, Milner, Ox, Gini and Shaqiri all excellent options. I’m not sure id use Brandt in midfield unless playing a 4-2-3-1.

At the back I reckon we just need a backup GK assuming Migs leaves, and a strong FB able to play on both left and right side to replace Moreno and give cover to Trent. With Gomez coming back, not sure a new CB would be a priority.

{Ed0333's Note - the only team in the premiership that has anything like the caliber of players on the bench as they do in the starting 11 is City. But they are an exception. I for one am very happy to have origi on the bench, his new position has equated to goals, notable and decisive impressions as sub. Why the clamor for Brewster all of a sudden he’s unproven and coming back from a horrific injury what’s the guarantee he’ll be any good, but Im all for giving him a chance tho at the expense of Sturridge and yes I’d keep Shaq even if Brandt were to arrive. Not sure Shaq would stay as a bit part though? I honestly think we can afford to let Milner and Lalana go from the midfield for differing reasons. For me Lalana is not in keeping with the way we’re evolving and as for Milner I want him to leave for Leeds while he has something to offer his boyhood club, not like when Lambert came to us. Our midfield is looking particularly sexy and I’m sure there will be another addition before next season. For sure a back up will be sought when Migs leaves and I agree with you RED I would love to see a player bought in that can cover RB, LB and central defense but those types of players are rare and not easy to find.

Agree with all that Ed, and happy to have Origi on the Bench, but I’d be a lot more comfortable if we had Brandt in there over Sturridge if one of our front three were to get injured at any point next season.

I really like Milner for his ability to cover fullback positions but agree if he wanted to move on for his own personal reasons, and we brought in a strong option to cover FB, then good luck to the lad. He’s been an absolute champion for the club.

Regarding Milner leaving, I suppose his heart is still with Leeds, but I would love it, if he had a role on our coaching staff. To me, he has been the epitome of a true professional, and he could pass on his valuable experience to our youngsters. It hasn't seemed to have done Gerrard any harm, going down that route.

17.) 16 Apr 2019
16 Apr 2019 12:54:37
Ox, lallana, shaqiri, Sturridge, origi and brewster can all cover the front three. We are not as lacking as some think. I even think keita could play lw.

18.) 16 Apr 2019
16 Apr 2019 13:50:45
I hope milly stays and if we miss out this year i think he will stay. Even if we do win, i don't see him wanting to leave as a champion. He has at least 3 years left, plenty of time to play for leeds.

Milner performs amazingly in europe.

16 Apr 2019 07:24:39
Are you an admirer of Brandt then Ed0333? You think he would fit in well mate? I guess persuading him on the game time could be key.

{Ed0333's Note - I’m a big fan of Brandt to be honest Virgil, have been for a while. Now that he can essentially play four positions it’s shows what a versatile and intelligent player he is. He is exactly the type of player our squad needs a much much much better Shaqiri if you will. Would love us to sign him. Wether he’d come? You’re guess is as good as mine mate.

20.) 17 Apr 2019

With you there, Ed0333. I would keep Origi cos he is talented and his mentality, selflessness (NEVER moaned when he was not playing) and work ethic is something that our team needs. Now if he wants to go to get first team football elsewhere of if Klopp wants rid then that will be his/ Klopp's choice. I think Studge, Lallana, Moreno and Migs will definitely be let go. Milner is a tricky one as Klopp may like to keep him BUT he may want to leave if Leeds get promoted.

As for players to come in, we don't need backups for the FB positions, CAM and attacking positions. We need COMPETITION as that is the only way we can compete in all comps. next season. We should bring in players who can make us competitive regardless of the lineup we put out, which is NOT the case now. I know that it's easier said than done BUT that should be the goal.

{Ed0333's Note - totally on board with everything you’re saying mate especially about the Full Backs. Don’t get me wrong I love Robbo and Trent and the endevour they display but for me they are suspect defensively and when compared with the likes of Phil Neal, Steve Nicol, Rob Jones, Aurelio, Marcus Babel in my opinion they come up short. The first half against Porto tonight proves my point they are getting schooled. So if we go out and spunk a load of cash on a right wing back and a left wing back you won’t find me complaining. I have no problem with four players contesting 2 positions next season. How about we go and try and win a quadruple?
