Just wanted to ask the Eds if you could drop an ex liverpool player into the current side. who would you pick and why?

{Ed001's Note - Souness. He would dominate every midfield.}

Great question Moocow.

Steven Gerrard is the greatest player I have seen play for Liverpool and him at his peak in this midfield would be fantastic.

I can't help but think what the likes of Dalglish and Rush could do in this team. would be fantastic. I don't see where they'd fit in however.

Stevie G edges it for me.

Dalglish. He was something special but there's many names we could say, it's one of them this one mate :) .

Alan Hansen. Imagine him and Van Dyke in defence. The opposition would cry.

4.) 04 Apr 2019
04 Apr 2019 14:29:45
Djimi Traore. Imagine being that bad and winning the Champions League AND the Premier League.

5.) 04 Apr 2019

Defo Souness.

6.) 04 Apr 2019
04 Apr 2019 15:31:55
For me I'd pick Steve Nicol because I think we could do with a world class right back and then push Trent forward to be the creative midfielder.

It has to be the king although god would be great spearheading our attack. Gerrard would be amazing, souness of course. Hypia and van dijke would be unreal.

For some reason I don't remember much of Nicol as a player. Don't know why. But his punditry leaves a lot to be desired, to put it mildly.

I’m of an age that I was fortunate enough to have witnessed the glory days of Dalglish, Rush, Souness, Hansen and all (and not really appreciated just how good it was being a Liverpool fan) . Souness is a great call but I’ll go with John Barnes (just to mix it up a bit) . A bit later and just as our dominance was coming to an end, but he was some player for us in his prime.

I was fan since 2003. So for me Gerrard. Gerrard feeding front 3 would be grt.

{Ed025's Note - dalglish for me stg, not only a great footballer but a really nice human being as well, which is more than can be said for that miserable sod and neer do well gerrard mate..

Tempted to go for Souness or Hansen, but I think Fowler would be my pick. The other two would slot in easier, but I feel like our finishing hasn't always been there this season.

Great question Moocow1990.

Prime Xabi Alonso for me.

Imagine our front 3 feeding off Alonso passes all season. All the while he just bosses the midfield!

Im too young for Souness and Dalglish.

Great question I thought souness was a great shout but red cards not so sure, so Xabi for me too.

In this team. Ian Rush. The original Firmino chasing defenders down etc, but 10x the goal threat.

15.) 04 Apr 2019

Like LiverpooFC8, Ian Rush for me.

16.) 04 Apr 2019
04 Apr 2019 19:11:19
Gerrard all the way. great man!

{Ed025's Note - great player naby...but a snivelling weasel of a man im afraid mate..

04 Apr 2019 20:04:03
Great question mate and definitely john Barnes imagine John barnes flying down those wings in this team.

04 Apr 2019 20:23:06
Dalglish, wasn’t born to see him place but had it drummed in my whole life from my family that he was the best player to ever wear the shirt and one of the all time best along with George best.

19.) 04 Apr 2019
04 Apr 2019 20:25:55
In terms of who would have the most impact on our side I think Souness. Dalglish is rightly considered our best player (and is an awesome human being) but Souness would impact us more since our front 3 are pretty good anyway and Souness would be a massive upgrade on our midfield (plus bring with him a winning mentality) . I don't think red cards would be such an issue since Souness' aggression was usually calculated.

Roger Hunt in his prime was devastating, it was Ian Rush that broke his goal scoring record (286 goals ) he still holds the record for league goals scored I do believe.

Great servant to the club, 11 years.

04 Apr 2019 21:38:26
Gerrard - our front three is fantastic, our defense is solid (although Hansen alongside VVD is a good shout) and I trust Fabinho, Hendo and Gini to hold control of midfield together, however Gerrard would add the missing element to really take this team to the very top. His ability to drive forward and provide goals from midfield is currently the missing piece of the puzzle, and he’s the one that always came up with the crucial goals in the biggest matches.

Why ed025?any ex player or employee of the club i've seen talking about Stevie over the years have always stressed how much he loved to club and how dedicated he was to it. genuinely interested.

{Ed025's Note - he was a very good player naby of that there is no doubt, he carried that liverpool team for years and is right up there with the best the prem has ever seen, horrible little scroat of a person though mate..

Devon red, john barnes is a brilliant shout. I think he would slip into our system absolutely no probs. Good shout bruv.

Ian Rush for me too 👍.

25.) 05 Apr 2019
05 Apr 2019 10:16:57
Dunno why mk scoucer got so many thumbs down. Steve nicol was a brilliant right back. Sometimes teams target our right side. Probably more to do with matip than trent but they wouldn't be so keen to target the right with nicol there.

Good shput mk. I picked:
1 the king
2 god
3 gerrard
4 souness
5 hypia.

Any past player to be put into the current team would be Alonso easily as that's the type of player missing.

Obviously there's a whole list of players we would love to see back in the team but if we see in terms of what this team needs then it has to be Xabi Alonso.

Ok Ed, that's your opinion which your entitled to and must have a reason for. But you still havn't given any reasons as to why and you seem to be in a large minority concerning your opinion of him. Thanks though.

{Ed025's Note - i dont want to go into specific incidents naby as it would make me seem bitter mate, which im really not..

I haven't seen King in flesh Ed025. Whenever Ed001 talks about him, he literally show his man live for him. It shows how much he was as a player and person.

{Ed025's Note - then you missed out big time stg, fantastic player and the work him and his wife marina have done for the hillsborough families as well as other charities has been phenomenal mate...total respect for the guy..
