Hi ed001 I hope you are well.

After the signing of Barmby and Xavier have we ever gone close or were interesting in signing players directly from Everton? If I remember correctly we tried to sign Baines.

{Ed001's Note - you are correct, but that was not even close to happening. We did also have a look at Coleman, but again never came close to signing him. They would not deal with us on either.}

Thank you so much Ed001.

Did we have interest in any Man Utd players since the whole drama with Heinze? Also what are your thoughts on the Heinze drama? I love hearing about things like these.

{Ed001's Note - no we don't bother looking after that. Personally I find it sad that clubs don't deal. It never used to be like that, but lately everything has become so tribal and people have forgotten its a game. Heinze even did a van Dijk but Fergie refused to budge. He had enough power to be able to do and say what he liked and he had built up such a feeling against Liverpool amongst the fans, that he needed to ensure it didn't happen. It was part of the 'us against the world' siege mentality he used to bring the team together in the early days. Liverpool were the top of the tree, so they became the target, no other reason, it just worked well for him that we were such local rivals as well.}

Thanks ed001

Definitely interesting. The dislike between clubs are so strong that it seems to be bordering on hatred.

{Ed001's Note - it certainly does now. People forget that the clubs were close in the past, Liverpool were one of many that lent United players after the Munich Disaster so they could continue to play games. Busby is a Liverpool legend as a player, a long term captain. You wouldn't think that now though, as very few Liverpool fans even know he played for the club!}

Some things can never be though Ed001, like Gerrard to Chelsea or Suarez to Arsenal?
Torres to Stamford Bridge felt like a betrayal but Chelsea got mugged on that one.
But some things can never be.

{Ed001's Note - doesn't really bother me to be honest.}

I certainly didn't know Busby played for Liverpool.

Definitely offers a different perspective on the way Liverpool/ United are now.
