I'd be tempted to start with the same front three from the win against Watford. I thought Origi's confidence grew as the game went on, he'd cause the Everton defence all sorts of problems.

Bobby has been off form of late, it wouldn't hurt to rest him on the bench.

I don't disagree to be honest. My only concern would be that bobby will definitely play against Bayern, so do we want him up to speed before then. Origi is everton's scourge though!

Surely Everton won’t be as open as Watford were though?
In which case, I’d have thought Origi would be better on the bench, with a possible role later on if the game opens up?
Quite a few opinions in the media seem to think this is where our title tilt will be de-railed.
I honestly think Everton, and their fans, would be more than happy with a draw - depriving us of all 3 points - so it could be one of those frustrating afternoons?
Ideally we need to score early. If we do, we’ll take them to the cleaners.

For me it'd be Bobby. Origi isn't bad and I do want to see more of him but not in this game, I know he scored the winner last time around and all that but I just can't see a fit Firmino on the bench, he's too intelligent on the pitch to be missing out on such a game.

Bobby has struggled to get going this season. Maybe it's because we don't press as aggressive, or maybe he misses a number 10. But either way his performances have dipped from last season and I think some good competition in his position will bring the best out of him.

I think Klopp told some players a few home truths before the last game, as the utd performance was not acceptable. I think Bobby will have watched the Watford game and hope that inspires him to improve his level on the pitch. A fully fit and firing Bobby is a massive asset but having watched him this season who knows which Bobby will turn up?

The Bobby that played v Bournemouth would be great but Bobby from the other games he has played recently no thanks. Am sure Klopp is watching the training and he knows best.

I kind of agree with the OP, Everton and Watford are at a similar level I'd say and we gave Watford a torrid time the other night - same team for me. Love Firmino but I think he possibly needs a breather and Mane is our in form goalscorer and looked great up front on Weds.

I fully agree with that FC8 all the front 3 need added competition it can only be healthy. Last year Mane needed to be rotated and this year Bobby's form has dipped so the team would have benefited with another player to come in.

Bobby has to come straight back in if fit. His form has been up and down a bit this season but he has been playing in the number 10 spot sum times and needed time to adjust to the new role. But for me form is temporary class is permanent. And its Bobby that gives Mo the room to play.

Why change a winning team, its not broke so don't try and fix it? You can't turn Rhythm on and off like a Tap, let the Beast go again.

Have had a fiver out of me Old Age Pension on Bournemouth to Win, 14 to one for a Home team (Bet-Fred) i will have a bit of that, the "CHERRIES" are the Pits away, but a different Animal at Home. Watched the repeat fixture last year Bournemouth very unlucky were leading 1-0 hit the post before city equalised, city got the winner in the "SEVENTH" minute of stoppage time Sterling with a deflected shot could of gone anywhere, he was sent off after this for taking his shirt off to celebrate after being on a Yellow Card, always thought he had no Brains above proved it.
City to LOSE there "CHERRY" Today, Solanke or Ibe with the winner.

If Bobby’s fit he should play.

Bobby leads the press creates space links play has great vision and super technique and he scores.

When our front three are fit and available they play.

If we get a top forward next season maybe there will be room for some resting of the front three but not now.

Football is a simple game at this stage of the season. Play your best players and win the three points then repeat:

Why has Firmino got to start vs Bayern? I think Firmino is arguably our best player but Origi was very good the other night and he got better as the game went on. A lot of people seem to have missed or forgotten his 70 yard diagonal pass to Salah, off his weaker left foot. The confidence was oozing in everything he did by the full time whistle and his goal was sublime. If Kane or Aguero had scored it, it would've been up for goal of the month.

City will happily drop Sane, Sterling or Aguero for a few games if someone else is in better form and the truth is that Firmino has been inconsistent this calendar year. He always gives 110% but his end product has been erratic. Let the guy have a breather whilst Origi is flying. If Origi is still playing like this by the Bayern game, then he starts again for me. Form over favouritism.

I'll start with Origi and not Bobby. Play the same team that played Watford. Bobby can come in for the last few minutes.

Spot on MK and your point regarding City is 100%

We can always bring Bobby on if it’s tight.

Origi deserves the nod for the Derby. He worked his socks off against Watford, both offensively and defensively. And likewise, Milner must start in midfield again, his energy and work rate makes a huge difference for us, on and off the ball.

If we aren't having much joy down the flanks, bring on Bobby and play through the middle.

I'd play Origi so we keep Mané down the middle and Salah outside. Bringing Firmino back probably means he or Salah go inside and Mané was good there on Wednesday.

Origi has a good record against Everton.

I've been a big advocate of more game time for Origi for the past couple of months. Given that Sturrige and Lallana are spent, and Shaq hasn't delivered since he got Mourinho sacked, pretty much any time we've needed to change one of the first choice front three, either as a sub or from the start, Origi should be the guy we go to.

But I'd still start Firmino at the weekend if he's fit. He is plain and simple, a better player than Origi. I'm delighted to see Origi score vs. Watford, but one game is not "form". It's not enough to drop a player who's been consistently one of our best for three years.

We will need Origi between now and the end of the season quite a bit, and if he plays well when he does appear, then there's a decision to be made about who's first choice for the remainder of the season. But for now, Firmino plays if fit.

{Ed025's Note - even though he has been a passenger for most of the season SR?..

I'm not sure it's about who the better player is. The team played well the way it was set up against Watford and Origi was a big part of that. I'm not sure you can set up the same way with Firmino.

The argument to bring Firmino in surely depends more on how your setting the team up and whether those tactics work against Everton.

I think the biggest effect of origi is we have more speed, salah got to play on the wing using his speed and mane who seems to get chances galore got even more chances as center forward. I would play firmino, in midfeild rather than milner or keita tbh. origi gives us more height and power, more for defenders to think about at set pieces. Klopp said he wants more set piece goals so i guess we will see more origi just to make it more difficult for defenders. we need more scrappy goals instead of trying to produce magic everytime.

I’d give Origi a go. He was excellent against Watford and I think he’ll want a chance to stick one on the toffees, given that he had a season ending injury against them a couple of years back.

22.) 03 Mar 2019
03 Mar 2019 05:55:45
Firmino is the better player but I would still tempted to play Origi simply because it means Mane can play upfront again and we then don’t lose any pace on the left wing with Origi out wide.

Mane had a stormer against Watford and is the forward most in form at the moment, I’d play him through the middle again as he looks the most dangerous of our usual front three right now.

As for midfield I think Fabinho is a shoe in, so between the other two spots it’s a tough call between Gini, Hendo, Milner and Keita. I would actually be fine with any of those options but I personally would go Hendo (for his captaincy and awareness of what the Derby means) and Keita for his threat on the ball, but Gini has been outstanding this season and Milner has a stormer against Watford so don’t think we can go wrong with either of them.

I posted a few week ago regards Origi starting ahead of Bobby with mixed opinions. Bobby had a great game, but Div offers something different and he's quick and strong. Before he got injured against Everton he was playing really well, and this kind of stalled his career. If Bobby's not 100% I think Origi deserves another start.
