Morning Ed's.

How do you see the game going on Sunday?

I posted a similar question on the United page and had some decent replys, they seem quietly confident. Thanks.

{Ed0333's Note - Drogie I honestly think they’ll get a positive result. Either they’ll do us or it will be a draw. Clearly I hope and pray I’m wrong as I am about many things in life. They have momentum and we have friggin Matip at least we don’t have a makeshift right back anymore which is thoroughly reassuring.

Maybe I’m needlessly worrying as they got beat pretty convincingly by a PSG team without Cavani and Neymar but we all know in a passionate, frenetic, tumultuous North West Derby history means nothing and anything can happen. For us to get any chance of three points I feel playing Fab and Gini is of paramount importance as clearly they are both playing at an elite level and make us tick. My heart tells me Keita should play but my head tells me Klopp will go with Hendo away from home. I want Keita to play but if I was a betting man I think it will be Hendo.

United are resurgent, galvanized, have pace to match ours and will probably start with Martial & Rashford who scare the bejeezus out of me. The only positive is that they won’t sit back, come at us from all angles and as Jamie Carragher said this will suit us. We can look to pick them off on the counter only if our final 3rd passing is crisp and clinical. I feel Keita and Mane have been the biggest culprits of this lately and they need to be switched on (if playing) and Mane needs to bring his shooting boots. This is why I feel either one of Fab/Hendo needs to have a MOM performance because one of them will be the base and the orchestrator of our counter thrusts and incursions. I’m nervous and excited at the same time but as I write I’m getting more confident. I’m really looking forward to the Pogba/Fab battle as I feel this will be the fulcrum of the match and the blueprint.

This has to go down as one of the most important Liverpool v United battles in living memory for me and I’m in my forties and have seen a plethora of them.

Try and enjoy the game ladies and gentleman and let’s hope we taste joy and triumph in the ‘theatre of dreams’ 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

A couple of weeks ago I was nervous about this game but now I am getting more and more confident, I think we'll turn it on and beat them, I really believe they can't and won't handle us.

United seem to have gathered a huge amount of momentum but they haven’t dispatched a quality team like us. I felt the PSG game was a reminder that they can be turned over with the right level of quality. Pogba seems to be playing with a lot of freedom at the moment but it’s how well we can isolate the width on the pitch that decides the game in my opinion. In some respects, Bayern did this to us reasonably although I’d like to think our forward three would do much better given the chance.
I’m hopeful we’ll win 2-1. Fingers crossed girls and boys!

The man utd v Liverpool game kicks off at 2.05 p. m on Sunday, the chelsea v man city kicks off at 4.30 p. m on Sunday, so city will know our result before they start there Cup Final Game.

If we were to Win it would be a massive, absolutely massive "sickener" for city, who are so cocksure we are going to get turned over, Phil Thompson has said this week that if we were to win at Old Trafford, we will go on to lift the title, let's hope Thommo is right on the two above predictions he has made.

Great reply 333.I’m in my forties too so I know exactly where you’re coming from!

Totally agree with all your points, midfield control and those who can keep their head will be key.

I also think Herrera has been good for them, dropping in when the full backs get forward.

Whilst I think they will attack us, we also have to be extremely wary of their counter attack, for me, that’s been the base for their success under solskejear.

We saw them exposed against PSG but also Spurs in the second half of their game at Wembley. Were it not for woeful finishing, Spurs could have scored four or five!

{Ed0333's Note - I also agree with you but 11 out of 12 wins is title winning form. They’ll be so psyched to shatter our dreams hence there will be added incentive for them. Also OLS is part of Fergies flock who know what it means to beat Liverpool. I really hope my fears are unfounded and we obliterate them. How good would it feel knowing we won the premiership and beat united in their own backyard the same season.

Ed0333, don't give up on me now. It is your often confident words that fill me w/ positivity whenever the season is getting to me. Either way tho, this game is a toss up and Utd may have the very slight edge cos well, they are playing at OT. That's about it. As for our boys, they have been brilliant all season and have ONLY lost ONE game vs City, a game that on another day, we win, hands down. Those are the margins we are dealing with. This is the HIGHEST level of PL football we ware witnessing right now and the fact that LFC are right in the thick of it gives me great pride.

As for the game itself, I think Klopp will go with Hendo along with Wiji and Fab cos the game might be too early for Naby. We need players who are used to this type of PL game and atmosphere even tho I would not be shocked if Naby started. This is the type of team we have now become and I love it. As per the result, any one of a draw, a win or loss is very possible BUT I don't see us losing. Regardless of result, NOTHING will be decided in the PL BUT a loss will be a momentary blow to our chances. LET'S GO FOR IT!

{Ed0333's Note - mate I think it’s a toss up between Hendo and Naby. Whoever it is will be ok with me. They both bring virtues that are worthy.

I’m not going all angel of doom on you mate I promise but as I said alluded to in an earlier reply these Mancs have a habit of spoiling our party. I had to live through their glory years when our title challenges were over in November. Keane, Schmeichal, Rio, Giggs et al destroyed many a season for me. Like Diego Simeone says ‘there is no real justice you just have to work harder’. Just because they’ve broken our hearts in the past we just have to work harder to break there’s starting on Sunday.

No one would be happier if we won on Sunday but I don’t think it will happen. As I say they are resurgent and villainous it’s not a favorable concoction for us. But if anyone can Jerguen Norbert Klopp can. I’d like nothing more than Salah to score a last minute penalty in the last second of stoppage time off the post to beat them 0-1. I’ll be editing Sunday evening please God let me be eating a large slice of humble pie with a dollop of ice cream.

Something tells me a red card will be the deciding factor in this game.

{Ed025's Note - i suspect it will be a very difficult game for the ref hsf..

If joe was fit to play I would be really confident but with matip playing I am so nervous. I really hope our players know what’s about to hit them because like you said eds Man U are going to be so up for this game. They would like nothing more than to say we stopped you winning the league!
Am also predicting a red card in this game.

Matip did a job in Champions League against Lewa. He can do a job Sunday.

Longthing76, what makes you think our boys won't be up for it, exactly? I mean, Utd have been playing well and all that BUT hey, we are near undefeated in the PL and right in the thick of a title challenge in the MOST competitive PL season in history. That didn't just happen by chance. It took a tonne of hardwork, self belief, determination etc to get here so why should we shrink like shrinking violets all cos it's Utd at OT? I ain't buying that for a second, mate.

Whether Utd are up for it or not, is not the issue as that should have NO impact on us and our approach. As long as we can match whatever they are bringing then we know we have a chance. In fact, there is NO PL game this season where we have not had a chance to actually win the game. That speaks volumes of the level we are at. The players and fans should be reminded of that and as long as we are on it from the off, we will have a chance to get a result. I don't care about what Utd or LFC did in the past as that has NO bearing on the present or the future. The future is NOW so LET~S GET IT!

Is there something wrong with lfc supporters? We have gone to Stamford Bridge, Emirates and Wembley and come away undefeated. We've lost one game, unluckily against a team on a different planet to Utd. We've been brilliant all year whereas utd (with absolutely no pressure on them and resigned to Europa league next year) have strung a gud couple of months together. But by Sunday they'll be back in 5th, and they will be feeling the pressure as much as us, to miss out on top 4 now would be a disaster for them. We will go to Old Trafford, do what the only other decent team to play there since Solskjaer took over did and beat them while keeping a clean sheet. We are superior, Klopp is superior, and we will show it on Sunday. and Olè will be left standing there like a rabbit in the headlights again.

I’m not too worried about their defence or midfield, but Martial and Rashford worry me. A lot depends on Matip playing well and our front three being more clinical than we saw against Bayern.

This one could go either way for me.

13.) 23 Feb 2019
23 Feb 2019 04:34:23
Matip has improved every game since he came in and even if lovren was fit id keep him in, momentum and consistency is massive for a defence.

Im with Ed333 on this, im very wary of the threat Utd pose. that's not negative, its cautious. Im not sure how shouting about how were going to win is going to achieve anything ahead of the game and it makes us look like turkeys if it doesn't eventuate. We should be quietly confident though, especially with VVD at the back again.
Fingers crossed we’ll be hitting the babycham on Sunday evening 😂.

Posters and fellow red fans might not like this but here goes--
We will lose to United. The atmosphere is such. I don't see any intensity from our players or managers in interviews Etc and i. Pretty sure klopps has a draw on his mind.
Meanwhile United have gone all hoo haaa bring in saf for pep talks. Their ex players hyping up the game. Also add to that they are in form and ogs has got them playing so they surely are going to go hard very hard at us.
That makes it difficult for us. It was already a big game. It is almost again like we are playing the underdogs in the game. Everyone is touting up United. There is too much positive going for United and that's a good wave to have.
Liverpool are playing playing Jane with this. We don't feel aggressive we are not launching any attacks before the match. I feel we aren't even interested in the game.

Now I have said before I like the new calm that is at the club. And I would love if we just go about our business and win it 1-0. But it has to be said the moment and verdict are on United's side. Maybe it is that we gave matured beyond imagination in half plus season and players are super confident to win or klopp is just underplaying things so pressure of a loss doesn't get to the players.
Either way as the situation is I.

What’s really interesting is the fact that we are divided in or thoughts.

Like so many of these previous meetings, form can often go out of the window and it’s all about who wants it more.
We need our players to really step up with no one going missing. It’s going to be a cauldron inside the stadium but we can silence the crowd by playing good football and really getting stuck in.

There will be nothing that pleases me more than seeing Ferguson with a face on after we beat them! That alone should be a driving force for the team.

17.) 23 Feb 2019
23 Feb 2019 07:51:36
Agreed Drogie, seeing Ferguson's slapped arse face is bloody golden!

United are on form no doubt, but we have what it takes to knock them back a peg or 2. They've had great run of games, but when put up against real class they got done. Let's lay a marker down and show we can beat anyone. We will have harder games than this before the end of the season. Come on red men.

"Their ex players are hyping up the game". pack it up lads, that's us screwed.

Their great run in the league has been achieved against a average league position of 14th, we can knock email back a peg or two.

23 Feb 2019 10:52:56
For me, Matip has been a decent backup for us and I think we'll be OK defensively with 4 of our preferred back 5 starting. I'd start Milner in midfield with Wiji and Fab. Milner's work rate and aggression will be key in a game such as this. As others have said, we must be clinical up top against this resurgent Man United team, take the wind out of their sails early on and I think we will go on to win comfortably. If Young plays at RB, Mané and Robertson will have plenty of joy down our left and I reckon this will be where our best chances will come from, we just need to make the most of them.

I'm more excited to see a passionate game tbh.

Lost there edge these games over the past years with both teams having nothing to take away from the other.

We can damage there top 4 bid and they can damage or all but shatter our title bid.

Fans will be bouncing. Manager's will be bouncing. We did have this game in the title run in under Brendan and we went there a dismantled them if I remember correctly.

Our boys can handle a pressured game, in fact I think it's the one game which they know exactly how to act in. It's the games where they have to set the tempo, be on fire if the other team is sitting deep etc that they struggle with.

A team pressures us and it just works in our favour. Super excited.

First 5 minutes fab to put pogba on his arse or vvd/ robbo to crunch rashford.

I agree with Ed, the officials will have a difficult time with this match. I just hope that the don't let Ashley Young get away with his antics. He's a thug imo.
