From our midfield gini wijnaldum is now the best. Had he been in the team for the last two games we would have won. He is last years henderson.

And to think there were posters on this site declaring that Gini Wijnaldum was “not good enough for Liverpool” earlier this season. They must be cringing with embarrassment. Perhaps it will be a lesson for them to trust in Klopp’s judgement of whether a player is good enough for Liverpool.

He still has the odd poor game but he has come on leaps and bounds this year. It is clear the competition for places has seen him thrive, when paired with Fabinho the pair of them are excellent. I’d like to see Keita, Wijnaldum and Fabinho given a run for a few games as it seemed like a very well balanced midfield.

I have been sticking up for him since we signed him even some eds slating him even, for me if we didn't have him we would miss him badly and he is an will be hard too replace not just the quality but the attitude first class, I hope he gets a contract extension he is one of our many captains on the pitch.

{Ed025's Note - he has done well for most part of this season hailstones but lets be honest its not always been the case, last season he was basically awful and looked as if he was not arsed in many games especially away from home, yes he seems to have got his act together and fair play to him for that..

Ed025, sorry mate but that is just not true. He got labeled by the media as ‘going missing’ because he did not score in an away game for Newcastle and others picked it up and repeated it until it became established fact. As I have posted repeatedly when defending Gini last season and this, the manager would not have continued to select him over others if he really did ‘go missing’.

{Ed025's Note - but you are looking through it with the red tinted glasses WW, you defend your players to the hilt whether they are playing crap or not, (nothing wrong with that by the way), just like we were told by one of you yesterday that bobby was one of the best 5 forwards in the world!!!...hes not in the best 5 forwards in the north west FFS!, even our weeble richarlison is ahead of him for brazil!!, all i want to see is a bit of perspective mate..

Ed025, fair enough I am totally biased towards Liverpool players but I was attempting to present the argument from Klopp’s perspective. Last season and this he had/ has 5 or 6 midfield players to choose from and more often than not he chose/ chooses Wihnaldum in his team including for away games. Why would he do that if Wijnaldum really did ‘go missing’?

{Ed025's Note - its because he has knuckled down and improved WW, and thats why i was applauding his endeavor mate..

I think we will agree too disagree on this one ed, as I mentioned on other posts he has had too adapt too different positions even playing in defence and his attitude is spot on and even last season he played key rolls in key games, admittedly he has not always been great but we would miss him if he weren't there .

{Ed025's Note - im sure you would hailstones, hes a very good player...when on form mate..

When he’s on his game he reminds me of Moussa Dembele in the way he protects the ball and never loses it. When he’s not on his game he’s the complete opposite and constantly loses the ball.
This season he’s been much more of the former as opposed to the latter and has to be one of the first names on the team sheet.
Plus he must have the biggest smile in football! He always seems happy which can only be good for the squad.

For me, he needs to do it more away from home and in the big games consistently before he becomes a dead cert in the team. Hopefully, he can play this way for rest of season but I’m not overly confident he will. Mane is on fire at moment and for me up there with VVD for player of year award if he carries on playing like this until end of season.

To get some perspective, he isn't a world beater and on the level of Modric, Kroos, Gerrard, Alonso, etc but he is a very important cog in our machine.
His work rate is exceptional and he barely ever gives the ball away.
One of my favourites, even last season.
Seem to remember having a disagreement with ED025 earlier in the season about him.
You just need to watch his entire game rather than look out for YouTube moments or base your opinion on MOTD.

With Wiji, I really think all depends on the position he is asked to play and the instructions he is given. Yesterday he played further up than he usually plays (Keita and Fabinho were behind him most of the time) and we saw his true talent come out in the open. He's better suited to the #10 role than the # 8 or #6 role, it seems. This being natural because that's where he has played for most of his career before joining LFC. And then there is the confidence aspect of it which has been written on here many times by the Eds and posters. After scoring, his play went up a notch once again and he was shooting and mixing it up far more than he usually does.

I think we've found our ideal midfield trio with Fabinho and Keita playing behind Wiji. I know many others prefer Keita further up, but I think Keita is more suited to where he was playing yesterday; having more space to move and run with the ball.

Ed025, I usually agree with you but I have to say you are dead wrong regarding firming! He is one of the best forwards in the league, it’s not all about goal scoring, which last season he proved he can do! His link up play and all around forward play sets him apart from most other strikers in the league. I know it’s all about opinions mate but come on haha.

{Ed025's Note - its a bit like every dad thinks his baby is gorgeous JK...even if they are ugly little sods, its in the eye of the beholder mate, on here the other day a load of you wanted him dropping for origi?...yes bloody origi!, who makes cenk tosun look like thierry henry, he has been very underwhelming this campaign even though he is a talented player mate..

Ed 25 is right about Firmino, Gini, Lovren. blimey he’s right about everything!

{Ed025's Note - its a curse at times though mate..

Agree with Ed025, it does appear that us having bought two new midfielders in the summer has helped him buck his ideas up. He has been very good for us this season, so much so we do miss him when he's out.

Ed025, please notice how everyone is being nice to you and not even whispering the word "Fabinho". 😎.
