Brilliant article cracking read and I would of loved beckham to have been added to that debate as well but that is just me being greedy
thanks mate.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, glad you enjoyed. I never thought Becks was really in the same convo as those 3 to be honest. He is not the same level.}

Cheers for that ed mate. Great read- question, if you had a dream team and could only choose 1 in any of the positions mentioned, which would it be?

{Ed001's Note - honestly none of those 3 would get in my dream team.}

Awesome work ed! I totally agree on that theu were different and we could enjoy them all 3 with their own style and game.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much.}

Not sure if you have been asked this before Ed001 and apologies if you have. What would your Dream Team be from the Premier League era only? I wouldn't know where to start but it would be a welcome distraction from the knot in my stomach today.

{Ed001's Note - from the Prem era only? I have absolutely no idea. Never really thought about it. The only thing I can be sure of is that Rob Jones and Dennis Bergkamp would be in it. Probably Henry as well. Would have to have Vieira and Kante in midfield, no need for 3 then! Peter Schmeichel in goal and Adams in defence.}

I always thought for England, they needed to find a way to get lampard and Gerrard playing their best, scholes could have been a makeweight for that. I think the problem was the manager couldn’t drop Rooney/ Owen and beckham, so he just played them all, even though it didn’t work. Personally would have given lampard and Gerrard their ‘usual games’ in midfield, in front of a naturally holding defensive midfielder. Taking say Owen or Rooney out would be a loss, but the team would be more balanced and the goals taken away should have been replaced by Gerrard and lampard. The only thing was we never had a natural left winger. Maybe the narrow diamond would have worked better, taking beckham out over Rooney or Owen.

Cracking read, Ed. Thanks very much for that.
Totally agree what you say about Rob Jones. Wonder how many caps Gary Neville would have won if Jones had stayed fit. He would always be in my all time best Liverpool XI.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. Neville would have been a back up, Jones was far better than him.}

'honestly none of those 3 would get in my dream team. '

I completely agree, same here Ed.

Great read BTW, I need stuff like this atm, life is busy and it's a getaway! Thank you mate.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. Glad you enjoyed.}

Fowler, Ed001? I know you're a huge fan.

{Ed001's Note - that's why I said probably Henry, though I love Fowler, Henry just edges it.}

It's pretty incredible to think that three of the top candidates for the best keeper in the Prem era all starred for United: Schmeichel, Van Der Sar and De Gea. Just goes to show how important a top quality keeper (and defence) is in consistently challenging for trophies.

Great article mate. The 'golden generation' as it were really did have some incredible players across the board. The fact that they didn't get close to winning anything is baffling.

Looking forwards to future Football Comparisons.

{Ed001's Note - just mismanaged badly throughout. They were never brought together as a team.}
