I'm sure I'll be taken to task for this but my opinion is that in the summer we need to invest in another center half. I don't think we can rely on Gomez long term.

You can't really say that on his current injury because its a bone fracture caused by another player.

Abso-bloody-exactly! 👏

Matip needs to go. We need someone with experience who can regularly rotate with Joe and VVD backed up by Lovren.

The best CB pairings are the ones who play together regularly. You don’t rotate CBs! Calling Joe out as ‘injury prone’ because someone kicked him until his leg bone snapped is a bit unfair.

Matip frustrates me if am honest he can have a couple of good games and I think ohh here we go and then a couple of bad games were he has a total brain fart!
But saying that so can lovren. And when joe is fit again are we going to get players that are better than these that will be happy to be sat on the bench I really don’t know!
Joe was just unlucky to get a broken leg it could happen to any player!

All those folks dreaming of world class centre backs happy to sit on our bench and wait for the odd game - dream on.

People say “you don’t rotate centre backs” and in the past I’d agree. But this season we have been forced into rotsteimg centre backs and we have the best defensive record.

It’s all very well if you can find 2 bullet-proof centre backs who never get kicked and can play 50-60 games a year.
In practice that is not realistic these days.

I have never called Joe injury proof, I just think it’s too much to expect him and VVD to play every game and Lovren and Matip are just not good enough to cover.

Flash why would a WORLD class CB sit on the bench?

Maybe there was no one as crap as Caulker for us to sign as a short term fix.

Ron how can you say ‘Lovren and Matip are just not good enough to cover’?
What are you expecting? Maldini and Cannavaro sitting on the bench? Lovren and Matip are perfect cover. Better than the cover any other top 6 team has by a mile!

Calling Gomez "injury-prone" is just blatantly false. Why? He has not even played enough games in his pro career for that conclusion to be drawn. He is a 22 year old kid whose body is still maturing and developing hence, knocks and injuries will come while his body is still maturing. Also, to say he is injury prone cos a guy kicked him so hard he near broke his leg/ foot is laughable cos that is not a metric one can use to measure how injury prone a player is esp. one so young and inexperienced.

Now, I think we should move either Matip or Lovs on cos they are both injury-prone and can't be relied upon. Matip would be the one I would bin not just cos he is injury prone BUT cos he is haplessly poor, lazy, lacks aggressiveness in the tackle and challenge and is lackadaisical. Lovs is good enough when fully fit, concentrated and on his game. It is his penchant for getting injured rolling out of bed that worries me more.

I like Gomez and I want him to succeed, but just look at his injury record since he's been with the club. is that someone you want to rely on for the future? I'm not trying to put him down or anything, just pointing out that I don't think he can be relied upon. I remember how everyone was saying the same about Agger.

Bobby - I’m content with Lovren being 4th choice but not 3rd. Matip needs to go as he’s a waste of a wage.

Lovs won't be here to be 4th choice, Ron. That much is clear so you might as well get rid of both Matip and Lovs, something that will not happen, IMO.

I'm a big believer in having a consistent pairing at the back. If VVD and Gomez can continue their brilliant form together, then we're in safe hands. Injuries happen of course, as do suspensions, so back up is important. We've seen the difference Virgil has made and he's as important as a top striker imo. A reliable deputy is great, but so is leaving opportunities for young talent. Hoever, or whatever his name is, is a blinding prospect. Buying a CB to back up the back up to the mainstay back 2 can only frustrate the growth of young players.

Gomez is brilliant, and Matip and Lovren as back ups are more than good enough. and I except that Gomez's current injury is a bone one from a strong tackle that can happen to anyone but I have to admit that each injury to any of these three (of which there just too many) gradually makes me want Klopp to sacrifice one of them and get a top partner with a good record of staying fit in to partner VVD. I know people will say a new signing would play 2nd fiddle or block Gomez but look at Gomez's career so far, any new signing would AT LEAST get his fair share of games.
