Would we need our players to be shrewd where necessary?
1) Firmino could have had Mason Holgate sent off direct Red card had he chosen to just lay down in the stands as opppsed to get back in a flash raging obscenities and getting involved in a further mess which just about saved Mason getting off the pitch.
2) Joe Gomez can't wait to get back on his legs after being at the receiving end of obvious card-worthy challenges. He did a few games prior to the Burnley match as well. Why not just lay low for a few seconds more so that makes the referee think .
Getting right back up like a Superman does the team no favours if opponents like Burnley have set out predetermined to give us a physical challenge
The Chelsea teams of Mourinho thrived on these tactics. let the referee know its card worthy or worthy of a send off.
Bobby and Joe Gomez are the only ones i can remember now other than Hendo ‘soft’ reaction over Ross Barkley challenge.

Honestly, I’d rather our players didn’t overreact. If you’re hurt stay down, if you’re not, get up.

I also think there’s a difference between going down when there’s contact, to win a pen or free kick, than to pretend you’re in pain to get someone sent off. If your clipped and go down, they shouldn’t have clipped you. If you’re pushed off the ball and you go down like you’ve been shot, it’s just cheating. Similarly, if you’re pushed whilst on the ball, you’re entitled to fall over.

It’s becoming an old adage, but if the refs gave decisions regardless of the reaction, this would be less of an issue.

I would rather remain as seperate from mourinho methods as possible even if he has had a successful career.

Shades of Red, I have often had similar thoughts myself but on reflection I would rather Liverpool players behave like professional athletes representing the finest team in the Premier League, with the richest history, in the finest traditions of Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish and now Klopp.

You keep playing until the whistle blows. That's school boy stuff shades of red.

I for one am proud of the fair play atmosphere that klopp insists on. Also, a big cb staying down after a little clatter from a small winger, they just don't do that. Cb's are the warriors of the team (bar matip of course, so frustrating. He is huge, strong, quick and skillful. So why d I es he put in poor performances.

I don't think he was that bad yester da. Not the worst player on the pitch.

Come on shades that is not the way to go on. You certainly wouldn't like it if the shoe was on the other foot and using Burnley as an example Shaun is not Neil warnock. Players get injuries either by missed time tackles or other things that's the way it is I don't want and I hope that klopp wouldn't want his players play acting to get some one sent of.

{Ed025's Note - im with you HB, i hate players trying to get opposition players booked or sent off mate..

Nope, OP. I ain't buying that. I want nothing to do with play-acting, rolling around and trying to get oppo. players booked or sent off. Please, those are for teams who really can't beat you on their own merits and Mou's so called "dark arts" can stay exactly where they are. With the poor sod of a manager. We will win matches and the PL hopefully on our own merits.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely redwolf..

You can dress it up as nicely as you would like, but in the end it's just play acting. You want a team of Neymars? Not for me, thanks. Play acting is for the stage and the movie cameras. Has no place on the football field.

Not for me. The line can then easily be blurred and we start seeing more sinister dark out there.
