Watch out Ed's.
Club accounts forecasting is due out soon. with a potential £100mil nett profit showing. biggest nett profit of any club in the premier league era!
I know the Ed's hate getting asked about money and account etc. But this (when you look into the detail of it) is a bit of a red herring. costs have been moved into next year for the purchase of some players which is showing a high return. only reason for doing that is to kick the tax to be paid out down the line a bit, and/ or owners maybe looking to sell up soon so showing a big bottom line would help in the sale!

{Ed002's Note - Sneaking ahead of Leicester, I would think there is a chance. Perhaps they can use some of it to pay off the debts. Or perhaps it has already been spent in the Summer?~

I saw that article and it was spouting a lot of junk.

It mentioned all purchases spread over the contract but all incomings paid this tax year.

Oh Ed002, please tell me you are on a wind up and that 'The Firm' on Twitter haven't got the £43m purchase of Werner spot on. If they have I owe them a hell of an apology.

{Ed002's Note - I think it was € not £.}

Don’t get your point on ‘kicking the tax out’. If you push costs out into future years and show a higher profit you pay more tax now. Also I’m not even sure if player purchase costs are tax deductible. If they are capitalised and amortised over the life of the contract this typically isn’t tax deductable. There maybe capital allowances involved.

Prep for sale may make some sense but my guess is ffp compliance. With the accounts likely 9 months out of date when released soon its the current year accounts / mi that will matter to derive a price. But in saying that your typical (profit) multiplier to get a company value will largely be inapplicable in football as most lose money!

What is this strange language of which you speak, Tom27?
