And this is exactly the reason why I said Lovren should be given a break. Not due to exhaustion or over playing but because he is incredibly injury prone. Coupled with the fact he is a poor defender to begin with further compounds the situation.

I thought we were poor tonight. Our second string showed absolutely no heart, no desire, no fight whatsoever.

Thank god for Alisson is all I can say. Thank god, or whoever you believe in, that Mignolet will no longer be a Liverpool season by next year.

Thank god for Robertson. If not for him then imagine Moreno as our left back playing on a regular basis. The lad tries at least but he does not possess a single brain cell. How he became a footballer. I will never know.

Sturridge too needs to go. He is well past it. Let him see out his contract and do nothing more. No new contract, not even a massive wage reduction because he offers nothing. Nothing whatsoever.

Out of the youngsters I was honestly most impressed by Ki-Jana Hoever. Jones and Camacho didn't look comfortable, not surprising when you consider the players around them. Unfair to judge them as they were kind of thrown to the wolves (literally) by Klopp.

The only way we can turn this into a positive is by winning the Premier League or Champions League which will be a monumental task. Otherwise we will look back at this game and think what could have been. Another seen without a trophy, after the amount of money that has been spent, will not look good. Not good at all.

Hopefully Lovren is not seriously injured because we really cannot afford to have one recognised centre back at this point in the season. Matip and Gomez have a long way to go and have picked up numerous injuries. Otherwise. we are going to be in for a rocky few weeks.

Fingers crossed this result does not affect our confidence and performances, especially considering the Man City result on top of this. We are still very much in the driving seat and, with our first 11, I believe we can do something special. I just pray that no first team player gets injured because otherwise players from the side who played today will have to take their place and they are simply not good enough.

Why have we got to rest Allisson!

{Ed0333's Note - because Klopp wanted to show the world that mugs can now play out of the back but still can’t make any worthwhile saves.

Agree with all that.

I have to agree with you on Sturridge there. It was so painful to watch him today. He doesn't make runs, can't hold up the ball and bring others into play, can't dribble, and can't even pass.

I dread the thought of any member of our first 11 getting injured.

Also Keita's display doesn't fill me with hope.

But on the bright side, I was very impressed by young Hoover. And also Fabinho did a decent job at CB.

Spot on, Ed0333. Mig is even worse than I thought or maybe I forgot how useless he was. He was hugely at fault for the second goal. Look at it from behind the goal. His feet are firmly planted to the ground and does not eve shift them to won side to see the shot with bodies in front of him. He stands there, the shot comes and he did not see it. He then dives for it in hope, trying to elevate from his feet planted to the ground hence, trying to defy the laws of gravity.

As for the game, it seems like we considered the game an inconvenience and some of the senior players like Moreno (shocking, I know) Shaq and Studge (we might as well have been playing with 10 men as he was a ghost all night) played like it. Just hope Lovs will be fine for Brighton.

{Ed0333's Note - this why we rest Allison because heaven forbid Becker tweaks his groin performing coitus with his stunning wife Natalia then Mugs is the understudy. I agree mate to many of the senior players didn’t turn up. I was shocked at how poor some of the, were to be honest.

I might be way off here but migs played for a bit of game time, if Allison is injured he is our deputy.
I am all for playing our first 11 week in week out but it’s a squad game and that needs managing. Would be demoralising for migs if he never gets a run out.

If Lovren is such a poor defender why are you bothered he’s injured? For me he’s a decent 3rd/ 4th choice and next to VVD has looked more than capable.

If Lovren crocked Hoever might get a shot alongside VVD.
Virgil has helped make Matip and Lovren look decent this season so I see no reason he couldn’t do that for a kid that impressed in a back four that contained a midfielder a brain fart and another kid.

As a makeshift I think VVD and Fabinho can manage the next few games, if lovren's injury is more than just a twinge. However if he was me in charge, I would do whatever it took to sign a decent centre half, just in case something happened to VVD, because that would be catastrophic to our chances of winning the league.

Are there any takers for Migs? If so I REEEEAAAAALLLLY hope they wern't watching tonight.

{Ed0333's Note - Andrea Bocelli was scouting Mignolet for his beloved Juventus and even he wasn’t impressed.

Well Ed0333 as Andrea Bocelli once sang so beautifully “Time to say goodbye”.

{Ed0333's Note - goodbye is hopefully sooner rather than later
