Why do I think we may well answer Ed001's prayers and end up with Godin by the end of the window?

Just a hunch!

Absolutely ridiculous team. The youngsters have been poor, their passes too soft and where the f@@k is camancho?

It's not the league cup it's the FA Cup. Klopp doesn't respect the FA Cup, fair enough, it is an English tradition but this is embarrassing. We are top of the league but look like a league 1 side.

"The youngsters have been poor"

Are you kidding me? We've got a midfielder playing CB alongside a 16yr old. A RB making his debut who has only been a RB for this season and a 17yr old midfielder making his debut. What do you expect from these players?

For me the players who should be hounded for that first half are Sturridge, who is just awful, he can't control the ball, pass the ball, get into good positions or run, and Origi who looks like he couldn't care less.

Lay off the youngsters, they will not be perfect at 16/ 17/ 18 years old, but acting like they should be will just lead to them being kept out of the firing line of so called "supporters" and stifle their development.

No need to have a go at the youngsters, they've been perfectly fine. Its the senior players who have looked poor and need to step up, there's been a lack of service but I've been shocked by how lazy Sturridge and Origi have been.

Hoever's done fairly well considering the circumstances. Jones hasn't been able to get in the game. His movement could maybe be better, but I'm not going to blame a kid because the team can't get past the halfway line. Camacho looks like what he is - a winger/ forward playing as a right back.

The fringe senior players have worried me more.

Sturridge is the one who needs to be slated, strolling around the pitch. Don’t think Origi and Sturridge have string one pass together.

I think the youngsters have some ok, better than some of the seniors!

I used to love Danny sturridge. But he isn't even running.

Erm, how did my post turn into a rant about teenagers?!?

From the text commentary it sounds like the senior fringe players who deserve a talking to not the kids!

Agree lay off the youngsters some players on there on 50-120k a week for that lacklustre performance. Yes Camacho was out of position a few times but least he ran a little. More than some senior players.

Robbiesline - exactly whic youngsters were poor? I thought Camacho played well. I thought Hoever has a great game considering he was partnering someone who isn't even a central defender. I thought that Jones looked good with the ball, but could go missing at times, especially if we didn't have the ball. All in all, a decent showing from the young lads.

Fair play to the youngsters. Played much better in the second half. The CB looks good, kinda feels a bit like when Owen came though, he is going to be class.

Alison would have saved that 2nd goal. Klopp won't be that gutted that we are out, and come the end of the season when we win the league, we will be pleased.

Would've been nice to have another big final though.

Anyone who's having a go at the youngsters is an idiot. What we've seen today is what we've forgotten because of all the recent success. Certain players like Mignolet, Moreno (and Lovren) are an accident waiting to happen. Sturridge only contribution was to get the free kick. Keita is too wayward with passes.

On the plus side I think Fabinho did OK as a CB. The young guys will learn but they need to be surrounded by players who can think so they don't develop bad habits. If the only thing we do from today is move some players on it will have been worth it.

12.) 07 Jan 2019
07 Jan 2019 21:51:45
Camacho had a decent game, Hoever was excellent. The players who let us down were Mignolet (as always), Moreno, Sturridge and Milner. Mignolet was at fault for both goals. First one he makes himself small and turns away from the shot and the second he was in an awful starting position.

Robbbiesline laying into the youngsters, stay classy!

On that performance sturridge wouldn't get a contract sweeping the floors and he's looking for an extension on his contract. He didn't even want to be there, Id say he didn't break sweat. 6 MONTHS left on his contract and he's looking for a new club he wouldn't make league 1 on that performance.

15.) 07 Jan 2019
07 Jan 2019 21:52:55
Disappointing but honestly, I would rather rest our first time today and focus 100% on the league! Youngsters got game time and understand the level required in the future, Kind of wish we have kent, wilson and woody though. The senior players are the ones who need to look at themselves!

But like I said I don't mind us being out of the FA cup when we have the league to win! Should of we gone further and it ended up with us then getting a bad injury to someone like bobby and it came back to bite us then there's that :/.

16.) 07 Jan 2019
07 Jan 2019 21:59:15
I really disagree with that selection and it disappoints me how little some managers think of the FA Cup, but I know fans are split over it. Brighton is now a massive game, losing becomes a habit just like winning and lose that and our season could unravel.

17.) 07 Jan 2019
07 Jan 2019 22:00:44
when we play the kids, sometimes I feel like it'd be better to trot out the full U23 team instead of mixing them in with the seniors lol at least they'll have chemistry.

anyways, didn't watch the game. was hoping we'd win so there'd be more opportunities for the fringe and youth players and also a cup run is always nice!

18.) 07 Jan 2019
07 Jan 2019 22:05:29
I was irritated by the performance especially with our seasoned players. Please Keita come good for us! But we move on and focus on League and CL. Be thankful you won’t be seeing Moreno, Studge or Migs again this season.

07 Jan 2019 22:26:42
Hey Robbiesline, that is bang out of order, man. How dare you criticize these young lads for making mistakes? What were you expecting exactly from them? To be Lionel Messi during their debut vs a very good PL team who played 9 out of their 11 starters? Behave, my friend. I propose you save your ire for the likes of Moreno, Shaq and esp. Studge who showed NO bottle, NO leadership, and no spine to help these kids out. They left them to fend for themselves and we all found out that these kids did not hide like cowards the same way these "senior players" did. Had these players showed as much bottle as Ki-Jana Hoever (for example) did winning the ball from deep and getting us on the move with a 50 yard slalom, maybe we would have gotten at least a replay. Whind your neck in, man. You're embarrassing yourself.

I didn't lay into the youngsters, I laid into the selection. In the first half we only had two or three players defending. Camancho and moreno were too far up the pitch.

Listen, don't get lary about it. They are footballers and I am entitled to analyse their performance. They may be kids but they still earn in a week what I earn in 8 months.

And if I am allowed to analyse the youngsters; the CB was really good, really, really good. I found myself thinking "gomez may lose his place"

The RB got bullied and was passed far too easily and in the first half he was further up the pitch than origi and sturridge, so when wolves broke they done a LFC17/ 18 on us. Fair play to them, realy good team. He showed flashes of his ability though. Moreno was just as guilty as camancho.

Curtis Jones had some confidence on the ball but his passing was too soft and it slowed our moves down.

They all definitely have a future. All good players playing against experienced internationals.

When you become a footballer you are becoming a man. It's not a boys game is it? Sorry if I caused offence. It wasn't meant to be a knocking, I just thought the team was way too weak to face this very tidy wolves team. We had a lot of other options, senior players, experienced players

It's not just the young lads I was chatting about.

Migs was poor
Moreno was poor
And in the first half camancho was not up to scratch.
They played much better in the second half
Fab is not a real CB. He did okay but was too rash for their first goal. Sold himself.
Sturridge was absolutely awful
Origi was also poor in the first half and tbh, apart from his goal he did naff all

We looked a different team with Firmino. If he had come on at half time I think we would have won it.

And Keita wasn't great either. How did he miss that pass to salah, mo would have slotted that home, bread and butter.

Hopefully Sturridge's contract will not be renewed and he will be shown the door. It's one thing being injury prone, maybe that can't be helped. But there was a serious lack of effort from him tonight.

22.) 08 Jan 2019
07 Jan 2019 23:46:11
i actually think it's the senior players letting them down. I

Studge looks like he can't be arsed, neither forward giving any options. Shaq and Kieta can't get into the game, it's passing them by. Moreno jumping out of tackles. Hoever hasn't done too bad considering and all Camacho has done is shown he is inexperienced at right back.

23.) 08 Jan 2019
07 Jan 2019 23:52:47
I'm not having a go at the kids. Its good to see them play and to be fair the young centre back has been okay.

But it's the selection I'm questioning. This is a big chance for a trophy and we are throwing it away. We look really vulnerable and the youngsters are getting bullied. We don't usually, we normally look strong and almost invincible. Moreno too, where are the full backs? Playing too far up the pitch.

Sorry for knocking the kids but you have to admit, this is one of the poorest performances we have seen this season. Too many changes.

24.) 08 Jan 2019
08 Jan 2019 00:43:15
Moreno, Sturridge, Origi, Keita, all had a chance to impress tonight but none did. On top of that experienced players who are supposed to nurse the youngsters through these games were the ones showing a terrible lack of composure. Milner/ Mr Reliable gave the ball away far too cheaply first half which in turn adds to the pressure the kids are under.

I was impressed by the youngsters at times and I’ve disagreed when people have said we need someone who can play across the front line to challenge/ cover for the front 3 but on tonight’s evidence I was wrong. This team have evolved under Klopp and I’m afraid Sturridge and Origi can not and should not be the only experienced cover we have.

25.) 08 Jan 2019
08 Jan 2019 02:41:41
So you are not knocking thr kids just the fact that they played? Perhaps we should have played VVD, Robertson, Firmino and Salah, let’s just run these players into the ground, footballers don’t get tired do they!

26.) 08 Jan 2019
08 Jan 2019 18:13:30
Robbie if that is your grief then your beef is with Klopp and NOT those of them who played. It is that simple. The players DON'T pick themselves. If you wanted Klopp to pick a better lineup or strongerlineup then that is your opinion, one which I disagree with cos Had Klopp played say VVD and he pulled up instead of Lovren then pretty sure you would be howling at the moon.

Also, what were you expecting from a make-shift team that was only put together in a few days made up of young players and fringe players with NO rhythm nor game time? That they play like the regulars? Sorry, that is nonsense and an impossible task. You cannot have your cake and eat it too. Klopp did what he thought was best esp. with big games coming up and you are free to disagree with him on the substance of the topic or about the senior players who were poor (I agree here) BUT you laying into the kids just cos you are pissed at Klopp, is STILL unacceptable and bang out of order. Cheers, man.
