Lovren was poor and caught ball watching on aguero goal which you should never do when you have a striker of that quality around you. let's not take anything away from that finish but if he was closer or more aware it might not of happened. Lovren game was poor but the team selection for me was poor hendo gini and milner shouldn't of played together and stuck to the 4231 with fab and gini as the holding and shaq mane bobby behind salah. If we went at city it could of been a different story but its happened and i would rather lose to city than a lower team like fulham who are struggling. Onwards and upwards from now.

Lovren had a rough game but overall he has had a great year. People need to get off his back. It was city for Christ sake not some lower level team with a bunch of chumps who schooled him. I still prefer Gomez due to his speed and athleticism and ling term pairing but let be objective, recognize Gomez is young and did make a few mistakes that thankfully didn't cost us.

For 88 minutes lovren was brilliant last night but it's those 2 minutes that he switches off and that is why he is not considered one of the very best in the world. I really thought lovren would keep aguero quiet last night and he did for large portions of the game.

Also, I don't think the right side was targeted because we are poor on that side. I think it was targeted because we are so strong on the left side. Mahrez wasn't brought on.

Agree 100% PeteColo and one other thing, as good as we know Joe is, he couldn't have done anything different to Lovern as he wasn't on the PITCH!

Um guys like aguero and Sane are world class players thay can make any defender look silly at any point. Ya'll don't remember our guys running rings around VVD when he was at soton? Amyways, we don't need to go down the blame game all the time. We lost. We can win the next one.

Mistakes cost you big games

Just want Gomez back myself just works better in my opinion

Even matip made me feel more reassured and that's saying something

Anyways what a season let's keep fighting.

For thoise who keep talking about Gomez like he is some messiah (which he isn't as he has his flaws like any other CB in the squad), what would Joe Gomez have done to stop that Aguero goal, exactly?

Lovren "one of the best CB in the world" wow. He was and always will be a liability. Question for you (hypocritical) gomez comes back in lovren not getting a game says he would like to leave, how many World class clubs would be in for him, my answer is none. Awful awful player.

@Redwolf - what would of Gomez done to stop that goal? Hopefully he would have been aware of the danger and got close to Aguero in order to stop him turning and shooing 8 yards from goal. That Lovren didn't think to get tight to one of the best centre forwards in the league 8 yards from goal is exasperating - it was a fine finish but he only gets that shot off because Lovren wasn't switched on enough, if he gets tight then at worst a corner is probably conceded. And let's not forget about Lovren's distribution which was nothing short of horrific all game long. How many times did he give the ball away? Or play an aimless pass to gift City possession?

He was giving it the big one only a week or so ago about us going unbeaten then, when it comes down to the most crucial game of the season so far, he shrinks. Gomez is a better player already and will grow into an even better defender - Lovren cannot be relied upon regularly. He is a decent squad option at best and, at the highest level, not up to scratch.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, it is not about being tight, it was about body position. Lovren saw Aguero but his body shape was facing forward, rather than getting side on to allow himself a chance to react. If he gets side on, he could have reacted to the run much quicker and almost certainly gets tight enough to see the chance out.}
