Afternoon Ed02,

Hope you had a great festive period and New Year!

I was just wondering now that we have entered the transfer window again, if there's ever been quite a big transfer that has caught you off guard / didn't see coming?

Whilst I know you can't know everything about every player / club, nor do I expect you've known about every single transfer, I also respect how much you do actually know, so was just wondering was there ever a fairly big transfer, say top half premier league/ European Level that ever made you think "well I wasn't expecting that? "

Surely Fabinho deal caught us all out. Not one report about it. I then left to go play indoor football, and came home to see deal was done!

Morientes shocked me, I didn't spend every day of transfer season checking on rumours like I do now. But I was surprised when we signed him, he was such a big star and a bit of a flop unfortunately.

Biggest shock I remember is Assaidi. Hadn't been mentioned or possibly even heard of until his photo at the signing was released.
