Hi everyone, so much has happened in 2018. Really appreciate the Eds and posters of this site. Often we don't agree, but appreciate everyone's inputs as we talk about the sport and club we love so much.

It has been one heck of a ride in 2018 with the amazing CL journey, bar the final. A dominant display in the PL this season and raising our hopes for no. 19 at last. It's a good time to be a Red.

Riding into the new year, while my missus is asking me what i'm looking forward to in 2019, I dare not tell her, that the top 3 things are all Liverpool related!

1) Match against Man City
Yes, it's going to be a titanic clash and I'm quietly confident we can beat them. Both teams will be up for it but if we learned anything in Dec, Liverpool have the confidence, momentum, a very strong defence, and now a very good midfield and an attack that has clicked again. At the same time, we've also seen the vulnerability of Man City's backline exposed time and again with some midtable teams taking points from them, and others giving them a scare. All in all, there is no reason why we can't win if we play to our ability.

Already, Pep is playing some mind games (I perceive) by claiming that we are probably the best team in the world right now, and this match will decide the title (although it's only Jan) . But I trust Klopp and the leaders within the team to have sound minds to keep the team focused only on our own game plan.

2) The title race (and maybe more)
Even if we were to win against City, we still need to take one game at a time, because no matter how dominant we were in any single match, the league is won via a series of consistent performances and results. In the same tune, even if we were to lose, I would say, fred not. Sure, it would be a psychological blow to us, it will test our resolve to bounce back, but within the larger context of the title hunt, it only means we have a smaller cushion. In 2014, we won the epic match 3-2 against City at Anfield, City won the title. In 2009, we spanked Utd 4-1 at Old Trafford, Utd lifted the Pl trophy. Such big matches matter for a variety of reasons, but they are worth 3 points still. Let us not blown things out of proportion should the worse happen, because champions are the ones who collected most points in a season, not the team with the most dominant performance in a match.

Oh, and given that we are sill in the FA cup and CL, who's to say we can't win the treble this year? One can always dream.

3) Transfers
The window will open shortly, though we shouldn't expect too much to happen in Jan. But i'm still excited to see the kind of business we'll do in Jan and again in the summer. Will probably have it out in detail in another post and invite fellow Eds and posters for comments.

All in all, exciting times ahead! have a great end to 2018 and an even better 2019!

The way I look at is that up until 4 - 5 games ago we weren't playing that brilliant, grinding out results and we were still only just behind city.

We have stepped up a level recently but I still think that there is more to come.

This match is more than 3 points to me. In larger context, yes its just another match having 3 points. At present it will just widen the gap between our rivals. Already we have 9 point cushion against spurs. Think of 10 point cushion against City. Still 17 games to play after City. We will draw here and there. Its nice to have cushion.
