So city are on the horizon and we have a 7 point lead, who would of thought that?

The game for me will be a tactical battle, city won’t want to lose but know they need to win. So do they go all out knowing they could get punished on the counter or do they go conservative and hope they nick a goal.

As for us i think we will set up for the counter, try and press them in midfield and pick the pieces of their defence. That set up puts us at our devastating best.

I do expect city to go for it though, similar to our second leg last year. which could play in to our hands. Either way worse case is we are four points ahead of city come Thursday night. I know I would of bit your hand off for that scenario at the beginning of the season.

But if we win, I think there will be a lot more believers (me included) and plenty of rival fans worried our wait may finally be coming to an end.

I will say this though, after 2014 I won’t be singing ‘we are going to win the league’ we need to take one game at a time and not get ahead of ourselves.

With Delph suspended and Mendy injured, surely we've got to really target the right flank as much as we can. Zinchenko looks very suspect and is their only option there at the moment. I'd expect us to go 4-3-3 with Salah on the right, or 4-2-3-1 with Shaqiri looking to exploit that area. It's got all the makings of a cracking match.

I think they'll go all out and attack us, I also think they may get a couple of goals but if they do we'll destroy them on the counter, their defence and keeper can't handle this team. Bring them on, I expect an exciting game but the way I look at it is if I was a City fan I'd be much more concerned than what I am being a Liverpool fan. I think we'll beat them no problem, I'm not nervous about the game, I'm more excited to see us 10 points ahead :) .

There lb is woeful, salah is on fire.
De bryne was brought off recently whereas our midfield is fully fit (I believe) I think Keita may start, milner will and so will gini so it's Keita or shaqiri for me.

Or, if we play Conservatively, not to loose, we could see fabhino, gini and hendo. Oh I don't know.

A loss will take the wind out of our sails but I believe the squad is calm enough to realise we have that 4 point cushion. I don't see us loosing though, their defence is suspect and we have the perfect tools to deal with them.

Their attack is class and we have the perfect tools to deal with them.

Their midfield is quality but guess what? We have the tools to deal with them.

If we draw it will be like a win for us and a loss for them. If we win it will be silly season and if we lose, we still start the year as favourites and are in a dominating position.

A fantastic December for our club.

When big teams need to Win (especially at home) they usually find a way. For example PSG vs us, or Us versus Napoli. If we play it like a free hit and go and attack I guenually think we'll beat them.

I think Mane will be on the right, with Bobby on the left and Salah in the centre. Maybe Keita will start, which will allow Bobby drift into the centre with Keita out left.
But I think Mane has to be on the right. His directness will be too much for Zinchenko.
I also think Pep will go out to attack, and it will work against City. We just need to take advantage of our opportunities.

I agree with you Salah. They're like a wounded tiger that will come out to attack and prove they're still the reigning champions. However, I think a 4-3-3 is our best option to start of the game and then adapt it to how they are playing. Our key will again be the midfield and how it deals with De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva. Let's see if Fernandinho plays? Wijnaldum-Henderson-Fabinho is our best option with Milner coming in whenever needed. TAA and Robertson will have their hands full with Sane and Sterling.

WE WILL WIN.

Totally agree with you ArAy1969, a lot of games still to play but any result apart from a loss will be a massive result so the midfield you mentioned of Fabinho, Hendo and Gini would be perfect for this game. We will miss Shaq’s crativity but that is a solid midfield and with Man City probably going on the all out attack our front 3 will hit them on the counter.

Such a different team when fernandinho plays. I for one am nervous, as living in Australia, I wake up and the first thing I do is refresh the BBC football page, that one second wait is agonising! You can usually tell who's won by the picture they use in the thumbnail!

liverpoolFC08, a "free hit" does not exist. We are talking about football at the highest level here where you approach a game with the right attitude to either win the game or not lose and talking about the biggest game so far as a "free hit", is the wrong attitude to have and thankfully, Klopp will not be doing any of that.

As for what we should do or how to approach it, I think we should just play to contain/ frustrate them in the first 25 mins and pick them off with pace, power and precision when we break. Pep in the first meeting at Anfield, literally "parked the bus" (by his own standards) and confessed to the whole world after the game that, he has NO idea how to play the way he wants to play against us. Literally, the man gave up. Now, his worst nightmare has come true: City has to come out to play against us. So let us do to him what we always do to him: Frustrate and Break with pace on the counter.

Sitting back won't work. Last year at the Etihad in the champions league we started passing it around at the back, bang 2minutes in Goal. Then we scrapped that idea and attacked them. And we battered them.

i think they will be cautious like they played at Anfield. Pep is very wary that his gung-ho approach hasn't worked against us. There will still be 17 games left- that's enough time to potentially make up 7 points. he won't want to make that a 10 point chase.

In 2 games recently I’ve been sat watching nervously from KO. First up Man U - playing awful football but a team we just haven’t been able to beat. Secondly Arsenal, a team which was wounded having just lost their 22 game unbeaten run to a poor Saints team and a team scoring for fun.
Both games we absolutely dominated for 20 minutes, I mean REAL domination. The opponents could barely get out of their own half. It was only through silly errors that those teams were still in the game.

We seem to be able to go up a gear for big games at the minute, I expect the same against City. They will be shellshocked.

I think we’ll put in a three man midfield and make it a midfield battle.

Giving them time on the ball is asking for trouble as Silva or De Bruyne will pick a pass eventually. give them no time and turn the ball over however, and we’ll create chances on the break.

I’m betting it’ll be Hendo, Gini and Milner midfield (or Keita if Milner not fit) and suspect it’ll be a 2-2 draw which I’d be happy with.

I hope so Ron. Watched em against saints and they don't look as good as last year. Dunno why. Sane getting less game time. De btyne struggling with fitness. I think we can beat them.

I think we will beat them, when the Saints attacked them, they looked poor. They really struggle when they’re on the back foot which we haven’t really done in the league this season. I can see them attacking us for 10-15 mins then us taking over, 3-1 Liverpool is my prediction.

I don’t think they’ll start Zinchenko, I think it will be Danilo at left back and Walker at right back.
