Regarding penalty. generally not the Salah incident (i haven’t seen it) Isn’t the bigger issue that the laws are too ambiguous. Could take a leaf out of other sports’ rulebooks such that
a) any deliberate foul (irrespective of the outcome)
b) any accidental foul that prevents a goal being scored
Is a penalty.

That way we would clear up “manhandling” (always a penalty whether the player goes to ground or not)

And the accidental handballs (only penalties if they prevent a certain goal )

As for Salah, he was barely touched and he went down. It was pathetic. I don’t care what’s in the rule book. He wasn’t pulled down, he was touched.
My 3 year old daughter wouldn’t go down like that.
It happens in football all the time. It doesn’t make it right though, regardless if it’s Salah, Hazard or an under 9’s game.
It’s cheating. Full stop. No excuse.

Short memories.

Salah has always been a player to stay on his feet despite desperate aggression by his opponents.
However, Ramos decided to wrestle Salah to the ground in the most important game of Salah’s club career. Salah tried to stay on his feet and as a result of the wrestling ended up with a serious injury. Ramos got a medal.

Do I blame him for going down easily when fouled in the same manner?

Answer - No.

If you don’t want to concede a penalty, don’t put your hands on a player, there is no need for it.
Did I say the same when Lovren patted Harry Kane on the back last season? Yes I did. You give the referee an opportunity to award a penalty.

{Ed002's Note - Salah is a serial diver.}

Tristan it’s a penalty plain and simple. The defender has tried to gain an advantage by illegally knocking Salah off balance by grabbing his arm. Otherwise why is he doing it?
There was a really similar incident in the game between Southampton and West Ham last night. As the defender came across the attacker he grabbed his arm and twisted him around. The attacker stayed on his feet but lost control and the ball went out for a throw in. A foul was still given and no one batted an eyelid. The only difference was it was outside the box.
A foul is a foul is a foul. If the defender is trying to gain an advantage by grabbing an opponent, regardless of the outcome that is a foul.
I really don’t see why there is this furore about it.

{Ed002's Note - Because a serial diver got away with cheating a game.}

I've seen Salah go down a fair few times from challenges my soon to be 3 year old would stand up to.
I not going to knock him too much as he I quite the stand up guy.

Horses for courses. Salah should have gone down when he was fouled in the box against against Bournemouth, stayed on his feet and scored.

All these players dive, Hazard is a serial diver and in fact, talking of Chelsea, their team back in the 2012/ 13 season had the most amount of players booked for diving and serial simulation.

Ronaldo when he was at United, Ashley Young? The list goes on.

Hey Ed002, I know you have a very quirky sense of humor (to say the least) which many fail to see but on this occasion do you really feel that Mo is a serial diver or just rustling up a few feathers ;)

{Ed002's Note - WonderDogSparky has provided some examples on Twitter.}

7.) 28 Dec 2018
28 Dec 2018 21:05:13
It’s a shame Mr Sparkey alias Ed002 wasn’t so vocal about
a certain Mr Young - Maybe it’s just a Liverpool “ thing” 😜😜😜.

{Ed002's Note - The question was raised about Salah. And who is Mr Young?}

8.) 28 Dec 2018
28 Dec 2018 21:23:54
Serial cheat behave yourself wish you voiced this opinion about other serial divers/ cheats.

{Ed002's Note - the question was about Salah diving.}

28 Dec 2018 21:28:49
Moron? Seriously Ed002, where’s your sense of humour? Mr Young is Ashley Young, I’ve never seen you mention one of the biggest if not the biggest serial diver ( outside of Ronaldo ) the Premier League has ever seen.

This question over those two has been raised on here.

{Ed002's Note - The question was about Salah. Not Young.}

10.) 28 Dec 2018
28 Dec 2018 21:46:15
Why would there be something wrong with me Ed002?

The question was a general question about Salah to the rest of us, not directed specifically to you, correct?

To be fair, you intervened on the topic saying Salah was a serial diver and you’re entitled to your opinions.

But the fact that I’ve never seen you intervene on any diving debates regarding Ashley Young or more recently Hazard.

{Ed002's Note - I have not seen any debates about either. I don’t deal with the Chelsea page and in general the MU fans have no interest in transfers. Klopp has publically berated Salah about his diving - he has been booked on a number of occasions, been fined by a previous club, been seen to be diving on a number of occasions whilst at Liverpool. The excuses are a joke.}

28 Dec 2018 22:02:12
Well I’m supprised at you Ed002, Young’s diving antics have been debated on here and documented in the media, Ferguson even came out and said that his diving would not be tolerated.

There’s no excuses Ed002, like I’ve said, lots of players are at it including Hazard.

My question is, when you don’t want watch football how do you know Salah is a serial diver but have no knowledge with the likes of Ashley Young or Hazard?

{Ed002's Note - I am not denying it but have not seen any such posts. I have never said I have no knowledge of the other players. The question was about Salah - and the replies all largely embarrassing.}

12.) 28 Dec 2018
28 Dec 2018 22:47:25
Hmmmm. I just think it strange that with so much hype surrounding certain players ( that cheat ) and it has been questioned on here. Long before Salah was even known. Nothing mentioned.

The replies maybe embarrassing but when you put into context, the cheating and diving that is in todays game is an embarrassment in itself, I grew up watching the likes of Souness and Steve McMahon.

It really irritates me when you only single out Salah, there are so many players that are just as bad yet read nothing about them - and I regularly visit the other football rumours clubs/ sites.

Off to listen to your shark pod. Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - The question was about Salah - I didn’t single him out.}

13.) 28 Dec 2018
28 Dec 2018 23:07:49
No doubting the question, more the intervention Ed002!
I really have to go now, didn’t realise how long the Sharkopod was!

Lots of love.

Your moron xx

Just joking by the way! before I get a ban 😉😉.

Well if Salah is a serial diver then so be it.
I am long past thinking LFC players are blameless paragons of virtue.

Diving is rife in the game because authorities are either unwilling to tackle it or are publicly encouraging it like Sepp Blatter used to.

Footballers, like all professional sports people, will try and get away with whatever gives them an advantage and it’s up to the authorities to stop it and enforce the rules.

At present the benefit of simulation outweighs the punishment. The simple way to eradicate simulation and dissent is a sin bin. 15 minutes in the sin bin for any suspected simulation or dissent - immediate punishment so opponents benefit but doesn’t ruin the game. You think managers would allow players to risk it?

In this case, I don’t think it was simulation because the contact was obvious.

{Ed033's Note - If Salah is a cereal diver, does that mean he can eat 3 shredded wheat?

15.) 29 Dec 2018
28 Dec 2018 23:57:55
Simple fact of the matter is if dummet didn't have had his hand on salah's shoulder he wouldn't have went down.

I don't think a hand dragging back a player on the shoulder is allowed anywhere on the pitch.

Was it soft? Yes.

If you look at every teams last 5 pens im sure there is an extremely soft one in there.

Dummet didn't complain much either which says to me he knew it was a pen.

Its much ado about nothing. Soft pen but it definately was a penalty.

16.) 29 Dec 2018
29 Dec 2018 02:20:50
The major problem in the game is that penalties are not awarded by referees unless the player goes down. That forces players to exaggerate when they are fouled to force the ref to make a decision, just like Salah clearly did the last match.

Would the ref have given a penalty if Salah has carried on? No chance. however the defender clearly tried to pull him back or off balance which is illegal.

I don’t like exaggeration or diving at all, I hate the practise, especially in European soccer, but we can’t be naive either as it’s used all the time against us by the best teams and players in the world to gain an advantage.

If we want to be winning the champions league against the best players in the world, you also have to have some street smarts to make sure the referee knows when you’ve been fouled so players don’t think they can tug your shirt all the time and get away with it.

17.) 29 Dec 2018
29 Dec 2018 02:33:30
Lets stop on Penalty incident. Dives or not. Our next opponent is arsenal, let's concentrate on them.
P. S. if someone does the same like Salah and we are in receiving end, we might thrash that player.

18.) 29 Dec 2018
29 Dec 2018 08:02:10
Straight red if your caught diving it's the only way to cut it out.

{Ed001's Note - I would agree but the officials are abysmal and never get decisions right. It is clear there is a bias towards English players as we never hear about Jamie Vardy, who dives multiple times a game, throwing himself into opponents and winning penalties. So all we would have is English players getting away with it, while the foreign ones get suspended.

First we need decent referees, who give a penalty when it is warranted, instead of bottling it constantly.}

Ed002 - did Duncan Castles jack your account?

{Ed002's Note - You would have to ask Sparky.}
