With all the turmoil at United - All over the radio, social media etc they are pining for Pochettino, a manager that's won literally nothing.

Yet Klopp gets mocked for not winning anything for a few years.

It's comical.

Poch is the obvious appointment for me. Given financial backing like he would at Utd, they will become a serious force again, no doubt.

Really 87? You’d have said that about Mourinho would you not?
Poch has done better at Spurs than he’s done at any other club he’s been at. Sometimes you get the perfect storm and it just works.
I think he’s struggle at Utd.

{Ed001's Note - I am not convinced by Poch. Saints were starting to stagnate under him and so are Spurs. He wants power and pace over technical ability and his buys have not been good. I don't think there is one player brought in under him that has been an improvement over the player they have replaced. I mean Kyle Walker, for example, is not the world's best defender, but he is a very good footballer and excellent going forward, while Trippier is average, at his best, and Aurier is dog turd.}

Tottenham have a tight knit squad and have been rather fortunate with some bargain buys (not that there is a problem with that) that have now been there and developed into top talent. Of course he deserves praise, but it does seem to go over the top with him, like he is the second coming. I’m not convinced either, that going and asking him to build a top drawer squad will be easy for him.

The Tottenham squad and him kind of fell together, with a goal scoring machine happening to show up at the same time as he did through the academy route. Levy won’t allow him to pinch all their players and so it will need fresh ideas, fresh talent, a huge clearout and a real clear vision, little of which Pochettino has been asked to do yet in his management career.

That’s not to say it wouldn’t work, but he could quite easily bomb as well.

Didn't Poch sign Alli, Son and Toby Alderweireld? Although three successes in approximately twenty signings isn't exactly a good record.

Yes for bargain prices, so little gamble and I would largely think Alli was signed on scouting reports rather than Pochittino knowing he would be the guy he wants. Nobody expected his immediate impact anyway.

Like i said, Alli, Alderweireld, Eriksson, Kane, Vertonghen, Lloris, Trippier, Rose etc all free or dirt cheap in the modern market. So a combination of great scouting, great negotiating and a hell of a lot of luck that they all succeeded has meant they have got where they are. They have also managed to keep them all together despite paying lower wages than other high performing clubs, on the whole.

Maybe Pochettino does deserve the credit he constantly gets, but maybe it’s just because they have hit the peak of their ‘golden generation. I like him, his team plays nice stuff, but I do think he has been very fortunate at Tottenham.

But he has improved players that he inherited ed. I personally think he is a great manager.

Maybe he has not been allowed to buy players he wanted and got players that were available on the budget. His net spend over the period is -29.

I think given the chance to bring in his 1st targets and a good recruitment team under him he will be very successful. He's not a moaner either just gets on with it. I hope united do not get him I rate him that highly.

{Ed001's Note - which players has he improved? Dont say Kane because that was nothing to do with Poch.}

I like what Poch has done with spurs. They are maintaining some consistent performances and have a clear playing style. I thinknof them a little like us under BR, except Poch has managed to maintain some conaistency.

{Ed002's Note - But not won anything. So perhaps more like Klopp.}

Moura could end up being a good buy for them.

9.) 20 Dec 2018

I would think Zidane would be a better fit for ManU. Once you've been in the high pressure arena that is Real Madrid, I don't think he would have much of a problem handling both senior club management and high profile players. It's all a matter of vision. Whether club vision, and his, match up.

{Ed002's Note - He barely speaks English.}

I think you’re being a little harsh on poch Ed.

Spurs are a much more competitive team under him than in recent years. I think they will inevitably stagnate now unless Levy is willing to properly get his cheque book out.

They’re at a place now where to improve most of their first 11, serious cash is needed and more importantly the serious wages that come along with that. As soon as they pay serious wages, the rest of the current crop like Alli, Eriksson etc will expect to be at least on parity with them.

He’s a young manager who plays attacking football and gives youth players a chance.

{Ed001's Note - he doesn't play attacking football, why do people continue to say that? They have been awful this season. They do not need to spend serious money, they have already spent it on crap like Lucas 'runs very fast and then falls over' Moura and Victor 'the donkey' Wanyama or that imbecile Aurier etc. People make excuses for Poch because the media have their heads up his arse because he is with their golden club Spurs. Poch has won nothing and done nothing to receive this ridiculous adulation.}

20 Dec 2018 12:53:24
Just how good to you think Son is Ed001? I remember you talking about him before he went to Spurs and saying you thought he would be a great talent.

For me he gets better every time I watch him. If I had pick of the Spurs players to move to Liverpool it might well be him.

Am I getting carried away or is he really that good?

{Ed001's Note - I love Son, I think he is a fantastic player. Best player Asia has ever produced.}

12.) 20 Dec 2018
20 Dec 2018 13:31:36
Didn't Poch give Kane his actual breakthrough in 14/ 15 Ed001? Vertonghen is a better player today under Poch, Kane Alderweireld Alli Eriksen Son are all excellent, heck even Sissoko has started to play better under him? I think he deserves a lot of credit Ed001 and would be a very good fit for United and a huge loss to Spurs. If they don't go for him, who do you think they can actually get that, in your eyes, would be suitable for the job?

{Ed001's Note - Kane's improvement is down to the lad himself working hard because he was embarrassed by his stats on Football Manager initially. It is not about Kane and he got his start under Dim Sherwood. Vertonghen was excellent before, as was Alderweireld, Alli has gone backwards under him, Eriksen is only good when given time and space by crappy teams like Ireland, put under pressure and he hides. Son was much better before he signed for Spurs and has yet to return to the level he showed prior to joining them. Sissoko is just working hard but he is still a donkey who has no technique. I am sorry but Poch has got too much credit already.}

20 Dec 2018 17:22:51
Its great Then ed01!let them have poch and crumble more! Its happy days for us!

{Ed001's Note - it really doesn't matter who they appoint while Edward Woodward is in charge.}

14.) 20 Dec 2018
20 Dec 2018 17:46:50
He's probably the best they could get at this moment in time but I agree he's overrated with an average transfer recruitment history, he'd get them playing more attractive football but he wouldn't win them the top trophys, I'd stay put if I were him as united are in complete chaos and the team needs a major major rebuild. Hopefully they get Zidane because he'd do nothing for them either. If I were them I'd go for allegri.

15.) 20 Dec 2018
20 Dec 2018 18:43:40
Agree with you on Poch Ed001, love Son but I'd have Nakata over him as the best player Asia has produced. Was a big fan of his growing up (grew up in Asia so there may be some bias there), I've also heard good things about Bum-kun but never saw him play personally.

{Ed001's Note - Nakata was fantastic but Son at his best is a step ahead. I did love Nakata as well.}

20 Dec 2018 18:25:27
Get that fully ed2, amd of course all strivr to win trophies. But if you aren't the Barca's of this world, then to me being competitive each season is the next best thing. Maybe he has reached his peak with Spurs and its time to move onto a club with a bigger profile?

17.) 20 Dec 2018
20 Dec 2018 20:11:01
I think Poch is a likeable guy but I’m not convinced, the better players at spurs aren’t his buys (bar son) the rest have been poor he seems to have benefitted from having a Harry Kane and Erickson and even when the rest of the big teams were dire he could really take advantage. Perhaps he is as good as people say but I don’t really see it YET.

18.) 21 Dec 2018
20 Dec 2018 20:11:52
Thank you Ed01, you beauty. I have NEVER rated Poch nor a majority of his signings. Aurier, Trippier, Davies, Lucas a. k. a "Usain Bolt with no end product", Sissoko etc. Crap players, really. I would ONLY take Son from them and no one else, really and NO, I would not want Harry Kane either cos he does not fit the way Klopp plays.

I mean, people talk about Poch in such glowing terms whereas the guy has won as many trophies as I have and I'm not even a manager. Many in the media use the fact that Klopp has not won a trophy with LFC BUT conveniently fail to mention that Poch has not won aa sausage in his WHOLE career and has been at Spurs longer than Klopp has been at LFC. Did I also nention that Klopp has won 5 times more trophies than Poch, improved LFC way faster than Poch has improved Spurs has YET Poch is considered to be the better manager by his synchophants in the media?

As for his tactics, he is very poor. He only has one way of playing and this is why he keeps getting hammered in the CL and why Klopp keeps owning him (1 win in 8 vs Klopp) tactically. Utd can have him and if he had any sense, he should stay well away from there cos that job right now, is poison.
