2018 - A plan

Beat Burnley tonight
Beat Bournmouth in the early game.
1 Point clear at the top.

City then have to go to the bridge and play Chelsea. They will lose that.

We play United at home at the best possible time to face them. They are in chaos and trash.

A run of away games for City
A run of home games for us.

We could conceivably be ahead of them or at least on the same points on the 31st.

January 1st - We play City.

If we win that, we could be in store for one hell of a 2019.

As much as we look at Citys form and fear the worst, they must look at their 2018 fixtures and be concerned that there are clear points there to drop.

Let's not automatically fear the worst. It is equally possible that we are 3/ 4/ 5/ 6 points clear on the 2nd of Jan. We are still very much in this.

I wish i thought like this. But unfortunately polar opposite opinions.
By the time mentioned i feel we could be 6 or more points behind. Come the city game we be lucky to get a draw. And tgen city uncathable by then.
Still have a feeling Arsenal will make a charge up the table.

Look man just understand what ed01,ed333,klopp, vvd, etc say. We SHOULD NOT LOOK AT CITY. WE SHOULD LOOK AT US ND NLY US. When we lost it last time 13/ 14 we lost due to us nly not due to city. so please forget about city and look at us. If they drop points well good if they don't then what have we to loose? we are Liverpool fans, we love our club more than anything in our worlds. Everyone has their own way of supporting but please don't giv a damn about other clubs.

But P. S. : I do hope we thrash united and moaninho gets d sack

YnWA.

We shouldn't take wins for granted.

Let's just concentrate on the Burnley game and take things 1 game at a time.

Why will City definitley lose to Chelsea at Stamford bridge? They didn't last year and are a much better team than Chelsea.

Why will we definitely beat United in the league? we haven't done that in 4 years.

Id love nothing more than to see it happen but let's focus on Burnley first and worry about everything else as it comes.

I would argue that it is not quite equally possible given that Citeh have played 100 point football for 60 odd games. Yes we are still in it but to be fair, Lord Guardiola makes it almost impossible to rest players because of the pace that his charges set. Ultimately, I can see us picking up more injuries and getting more tired than them by Jan 3rd. I would be inclined to think that the race finishes on Jan 3rd.

January 3rd we play city I think but yes mate exactly, great post, about time we see more posts like this! Come the 3rd we'll be top, no doubt and we'll remain top as well.

Sorry, it’s the 3rd

I think it’s natural to look at your direct competition and it’s only what we have been all doing every season forever. What is different is looking at it with a pure defeatist attitude. It could go one way or the other this month and as long as we have a chance, I’ll be looking on the positive but I’ll still have City in my sights and thoughts all the way.

Walter do you happen to work as a risk assessor? Or in a health and safety department? I think there is definitely a career in being a miserable sod somewhere that you’re missing out on, if not.

Performances matter, we were lucky enough against Everton to get the 3 points, and not be 4 points behind.
I would think City at home are favourites against any team in the world, RM/ Barca included. I would expect them to at least beat us on the 3rd, maybe they drop points elsewhere. I would say just chill, there's a long season to go!

Dont forget that we play Wolves in the FA Cup, thank you FA, just 3 days after the City game, so lots of big games coming up, I can see why Klopp is giving some players a rest tonight, we could see more of Matip if Gomez is out for a while . going to be hard to get 3 points tonight, Burnley trying hard .

It’s best to take it one game at a time and see where you are at the end of the season, we are in a good position for a title race though.

your'e right - key is winning these 2 away games this week
Keep the pressure on the Citeh-
I fancy us beating anyone at fortress Anfield.
City away then will be huge.

I could be wrong but didn't we score more points than city post Xmas last season and we're within two this season, not bad if true.
