It's must feel very good to go to work after yesterday's derby victory, moreso in the manner it came. A win is a win especially at a derby and where competing with a maniac mancity side is very precious.

I want to highlight a few things
I think we played well overall probably even better than we've been playing of recent but we need to start to convert and take our chances. We are approaching a period of the season where the games will be coming in thick and fast and fatigue will be setting in on especially on our attacking players and full backs (positions where we have no potent enough backups) we need to take our chances when we get them so we don't loose pace. Yesterday's game presented almost half a dozen pretty good chances for us but we wasted them all bar the goal

I think our best player yesterday was our goalie, he's worth every dime

Mane holds unto the ball too much and delays play. I don't know if the klopp sees this but it affects play seriously

Gomes was immense for the blue noses yesterday
Same with Coleman

Finally and most importantly
I think this coming window is probably our most important window this decide, our use or misuse of it will determine how far we can push city for the title.
Left to me we need just one player, an AM
someone with bundles of energy, an eye for a pass, good with the ball at feet and can occasionally bang in from long range (I don't see that in keita yet)

Cheers
Unto Burnley.

We have no plans to sign anyone in January and even if we did, I do not think it will play any part in how the second half of the season goes. We have cover at RB as we have Clyne on the books.

Disagree on Mane. He’s the only one of the front 3 to be making things happen at the moment. If he took his chances yesterday we’d all be saying how magnificent he was/ is. He beats a man and creates a chance, it’s not holding up the play but drawing a man on before getting around him, if the others two were on his wavelength at the moment we’d be laughing as Bobby can’t pass and Salah can’t beat a man right now. There are glimpses, but that is all. It says a lot when you look at their stats, pretty good in isolation, but we can all see they’re not firing completely.

I agree with Redinthewrongway, I think Mane is performing the most consistently out of the front 3 as far as making things happen goes. He's not got his shooting boots on yet, but I would suggest he's been the best of the 3 overall.

I think that Robertson should be overlapping a bit more though, he seems to stop behind Mane and offer himself for a deeper cross a lot of the time, and only seems to get down the line if Mane's drifted inside. Might be tactical, but think it could free up Mane to get the ball back in a more dangerous position if he overlapped a bit more.

{Ed0333's Note - I also think Mane is undroppable at the moment. Admittedly he’s not at his scintillating best, missing some proper sitters but you’re right Rugby he’s more of a threat than Salah and Bobby momentarily. I think the Burnley game is the ideal opportunity to rest Bobby and play Mane left, Salah right and a buoyed Div. In my opinion Bobby has had enough time to play himself into form and it’s clearly not happening so let’s try something else. Robbo really needs to work on his positioning. You’re correct he’s not been overlapping of late which he used to do regularly and the interchange between him and mane has been scant recently. Looks tactical to me.

Can’t believe we got Alisson so cheap to be honest.

yep, Mane is prob our best forward right now, Bobby looks a bit slow at the moment, and Salah has yet to hit the form of last season,
but, I think that as we enter the New Year, we will find that the team goes up a gear, and we could grab that No1 spot, City are a machine right now, but they can drop some points .

OP, your post is spot on overall as I nthought we played well overall cos some of the interchange in the final third was brilliant at times BUT, I'm with the other lads on the Mane topic. He is undroppable right now. He is the one creating, getting behind teams and forcing defenders to into positions they don't want to be in. He was also the only play (and Allison) who seemed to give a damn vs PSG cos that penalty was ALL Mane. Not sure if Origi should start cos regardless of last night, he has played next to no football this season (30 mins, altogether I think) .

As for Bobbie, he is playing a new position mainly IMO, cos Keita is still coming back and he should be playing in the advanced position if Shaq plays out wide like he did last night. If he needs a rest due to fatigue then so be it. We have to persevere with him cos like it or not, we would not be where we are w/ o Bobbie and people should never forget that. As for Salah in the CF position, I think it is working cos he has scored 4 goals whenever he has played there so the numbers say he is good there for now.
