Ed, I did not see the game so I'll take it that tho we were poor damn near all over the shop (based on what you and many have said), I am shocked we created that many chances to actually get something from the game. I do think the 5 changes killed any form of momentum we could have had. Not saying Klopp should not rotate but to change the team that much, with players who are either poor (Matip), not good when they start (Studge), or simply not good enough anymore, IMO (Lallana) . The drop off is too much.

Also, there seemed to be too many poor performances even from those who are the starters so when you have that and add in the players who came into the team cold, then you get what you get: A Nothing Performance. Hopefully, we can get better ASAP cos we simply cannot go on like this. On a final note, we will have to deal with our "fans" who just lose their marbles, spout out OTT comments and predict how badly we will finish in the PL or CL, after each poor performance. Ok to criticize and offer solutions BUT the constant whindup comments, are becoming boring and tedious, IMO.

{Ed001's Note - some gilt edged chances were missed that on another night would have been slotted away.}

Very good read that Ed, thank you! I can't disagree with anything you have wrote there apart from Lallana's 4 rating, a bit generous? ;) .

Wijnaldum annoyed me too, what frustrates me more than anything with him is he has the quality yet hardly ever shows it, it's just the odd game he will have a good one then for a few it's like he isn't even on the pitch! like you say, he goes missing and it really annoys me. I get that players can't play great every single game but he has the odd good game then falls off all of the time!

Anyway, thanks Ed, great review mate hope you've had a good day/ night. How you re watched that game is beyond me lol!

{Ed001's Note - it shows how dedicated I am to you lot. Or how much of a glutton for punishment/stupid I am. Not sure which, I will let you lot decide!}

Love the reviews Ed001, matip, as you said, should be no where near the first 11 he makes the defence feel laboured and prone to mistakes. IT Is no coincidence he was in the team and we conceded.
Lallana isn’t match fit but we need to be ruthless and can’t keep trying to get him up to speed.
Studge is too greedy and doesn’t fit with the team ethos.
The above paired with a lack of effort from individuals caused a truly poor performance.
But do you think our lack of intensity this year is down to Klopp trusting our defence (last night being the exception) . Previously we had to press high as any team getting near our goal usually ended in them scoring. It’s not as entertaining but it’s gets results in the main.

{Ed001's Note - no, Klopp still wants the press, it is just not coming together this season.}

All I'll say Ed is, I certainly wouldn't lol but I and I'm sure everybody else appreciate you doing it! your opinions and thoughts are always appreciated mate. Great work.

{Ed001's Note - so basically you think I am an idiot then? ;-)

Not an enjoyable read Ed thanks! I agree with it all although I think your 5 for Matip is a generous 5. I hope you didn’t have to watch the match again for the review? If you did then I applaud you man, as should everyone else on this site because that was a shocker yesterday and should be shelved from viewing for eternity.

{Ed001's Note - it was generous as I forgot one thing when I wrote it, his culpability for the second goal. That is what you get for typing it up while half watching another match. My apologies, he should have got a 3.}

Ed001, Buvacs name is being thrown around more and more as a reason we're not quite clicking this season. Personally I don't buy it, we had spells exactly like this while he was here and certainly our excellent second half of last season performances couldn't have been down to him as he became less involved, it's why he left isn't it, but I just wanted your take on these "rumours".

{Ed001's Note - you are right mate, it is giving him way too much credit.}

Well Ed, erm, I didn't want to say anything like ;) hahaha!

IronDan, I completely agree with you. Buvac is just one man, he wasn't the only reason behind how well we played last season, it's just one of them, people like to bring something up to moan about and at the moment the problem apparently is Buvac not being at the club, load of bullsh*t if you ask me. Again, one man, he isn't the be all and end all and never was.

Thank you, Ed. This new Buvac love-in is baffling. When we were winning both late last season in the PL and CL, I never heard a peep about this guy. Same this season. Never heard his name when we were winning (tho, not playing as well) consecutive games. Suddenly each time we don't get a result, the y come back with this "We need Buvac back" nonsense. What I want to know is that was Buvac not here when we were getting pummeled by City, Spurs and conceding for fun at this stage last season, 12 points behind at this point last season? If that is the case, when did he suddenly become a genius? Was it when he was here or suddenly when he left? Utter rubbish!

I personally think that people use this as a stick to beat Klopp with cos well, what are you really going to criticize with a manager who is undefeated in the PL (8 wins, 3 draws and second in the CL group) so they find some nonsense to make up. We are struggling and we all know that so pls, stop giving this guy credit for something his has very little to do with.

if sturridge scored it would be a different story. sturidge played just as bad as anyone else. 2 nil down and sturridge gets brought off is ridiculous. when you need goals you add to the attack, not stupid like for like changes.

klopps only real good option due to lack of players was to bring lallana off for fimino and hope for the best because when it comes down to it, sturridge looked like the only one scoring but was instead used as a scapegoat by klopp. The midfield is the worst culprit. We should only have 1 of lallana, milner and wijnaldum at any given time. can't wait till we have hendo, keita, ox, and shaquiri more often. liverpools wheels are ready to fly off with the current players.

Ed if he wants the press why is it not working we have most of players who have made it work in the past seasons and we have been pressing since he came, why has it deteriorated suddenly I don't get it .

{Ed001's Note - because they have had a summer away and it always takes time to get back to it. We had this same thing last season, right up until after we got hammered by Spurs. Last season everyone had a pre-season, this season half the team were back late, so it has compounded the issue. This has been going on since football started, some systems just take time to come together.}

Good read and a fair evaluation of the team there ED.

I think your 6 for Milner was a bit generous as he gave the ball away straight to the player who scored their second goal, and that just knocked the stuffing out of us.

Many thanks for your efforts.

{Ed001's Note - and he gave it away with little danger as Gini was right there but Gini failed to get goalside to see out the problem. Don't be blaming Milner there, Wijnaldum had plenty of time to fix the mistake but failed miserably.}

Great assessment Ed, not sure how Klopp thinks an away fixture in Europe is the time to experiment when we have the inept Fulham at home on Sunday 🙄
Surely the way to go was solid away in UCL and let Sturridge, Lallana and Matip play at home v relegation candidates? I just don’t understand his rationale at all for going with the opposite approach.

{Ed001's Note - agreed.}

Every team goes through a slump. Perhaps this is ours. The challenge now is to get get out it and turn it around back to winning ways ASAP before it is too late and we are further behind in the title hunt and out of the CL.

Sorry ed001 I am going to skip the review mate. Not having enough heart to read the review. You have punished yourself by watching it again. Felt some people didn't even bothered to run like Lallana and Mane too. I think we are missing Hendo here. He would shout at everyone who isn't giving 100%. Missing him great time.

Just some thoughts for the match.

1st goal - I thought both Lallana and VVD were culpability. Lallana was there to block the run but he allowed the striker a free run and didn’t even try to stop him. VVD for not attacking the ball and reacting to it when it’s too late.

2nd goal - yes Milner had a couple of loose passes in the match, this instance being one. But I thought he wasn’t helped by Gini who was constantly hiding. If he had just taken 2 steps nearer to Milner, he would be better placed to receive the ball. And he did have plenty of time to recover but he didn’t even try to tackle! He was weak and was shrugged off way too easily. Then with 2 CBs facing ONE striker, Matip should have gone forward to close down the player, but he didn’t.

Salah - I personally thought Salah played decently. He was able to turn with the ball, run with it and take on players without losing it. He even created space to shoot! Something which he hasn’t quite been able to do much this season.

Disappointed but we still have 2 games and are in total control about qualification.

P.S. People used to criticise Lucas for giving away free kicks in dangerous positions but that’s his role in preventing attackers have a free run or shot. I think a player like him is missed more than a no. 10 at the moment.
