Tonight aside, are we now seeing a Liverpool team missing the influence of Buvac on the coaching side Eds? . We seem to be a lot more solid at the back but nothing linking midfield to the front three. And clueless when going behind. This is basically the same team as last season but we are missing something.

{Ed033's Note - Yes, Liverpool FC should obviously hire Ed001 and or Ed002 (if they can afford Ed002) as consultants. :)

I don't seem to remember anyone calling for Buvac when we won 8 in a row in the PL BUT now that we are in a bit of a sticky patch, Buvac reappears out of nowhere as if he was some kind of genius that Klopp cannot do without. As if Klopp cannot function on his own or with the assistants he himself, hand-picked. Strange really.

It's not really that though Brover I think it's the abrupt change in style from a swash-buckling, pressing, attacking team to quite a slow, pondering team that looks bereft of ideas in the final third. We basically pumped balls into their box for the best part of the second half - that was our strategy. I don't think Buvac was the saviour but it's clear his influence had us playing in a certain way and, at the moment, in his absence, we are playing differently. Whilst results remain (overall) decent that will fly, but if/ when results nosedive there will be some questions that need answering.

The team is well capable of pressing and harrying opposition - we have seen it for the past few seasons - so why has a formula that the players knew, that had seen us make incremental improvements over the seasons, been suddenly dropped and replaced by what is being referred to as the 'pragmatic approach'? To save energy for the end of the season? If our form and overall standard of play doesn't improve we'll have plenty of energy left at the end of the season but we just won't have a trophy to try and win with it. I think a strategical rethink is in order - we have yet to perform consistently well this season and the Red Star came was merely a reminder of that - how long does the manager wait before deciding current tactics aren't cutting the mustard?
