Hi Ed001, long back I heard Rooney first tried his trial with us but opted for Everton due to some bullies. Its bothering me long time about the truth in this one.

{Ed001's Note - I am not aware of any truth in that. As far as I am aware he was only ever interested in joining them.}

Just whilst he’s been mentioned Ed, how did you rate Rooney during his long spell in the premiership? Overrated? Harshly Criticised? Peaked to early? I know he’s the last person to be discussed on this page, but just interested to know your opinion on him now he has been mentions.

{Ed001's Note - never reached the level he should have done due to his poor lifestyle choices and attitude. When he burst onto the scene as a teenager he was as good as he was ever going to get as he never improved his touch or technique nor did he have the intelligence to improve his movement etc. He was a very good player but should have been a great player up there with the best of the Premier League era without argument over whether he deserved to be named with them or not.}

'never reached the level he should have done due to his poor lifestyle choices and attitude. '

Spot on that Ed, he had the potential to be top notch but the only person who buggered that up was himself.

Ed01 is correct. Watched Rooney's debut and that GOAL vs Arsenal at 16 yrs old and I thought this kid was going to be the next Michael Owen. He just never struck me as a CR7, Zola, Suarez type player as in, a truly brilliant talent that fulfilled his full potential in the PL. Yes, he was a good player BUT a Prem legend or icon? NOPE!

{Ed025's Note - im not his biggest fan by any means brover and could not wait to get shut of him when he left, and as a person he is everything i would hate to be, .....but saying that as a footballer he was special and his record speaks for itself mate, hate him for his personality yes and even because hes an evertonian thats all good, but like it or not he will go down as world class because of his scoring record for united and england which is second to none in any era, and thats the truth of the matter..

Id have to say Rooney was better than Owen. Achieved better and performed better. But I agree - wouldn't put him on the same level as Ronaldo or Suarez.

{Ed001's Note - and neither Owen nor Rooney will go down as world class by any sane definition.}

Not sure if you've heard by he's single-handedly taken Washington DC from the relegation zone into the playoffs. Amazing.

I’ve met him on numerous occasions, he’s really shy and polite, not what you expect at all really considering his many vices.

Only an Everton fan would think Rooney was WC, Ed25. I get it. But he's not and never will. Just opinions, man.

{Ed025's Note - and opinion is exactly what mine is brover no more no less, the basis for that opinion is that it rules out so many great players from getting that tag mate, all the united goal scoring greats as well as the england ones as his records have usurped them all, but if i could turn your opining gambit on its head...maybe only liverpool fans would think he was not..peace..
