It’s called rotation mate.

I thought lallana did okay today, he has also been at this club for years whereas shaq has been here for a few months. They are different players but I really think there is room for them both.

Also you don't have to start your best players every game. I think shaq is very effective against a tired opposition. He has been great so far though, he looks a different person, let alone player. He suits a Liverpool shirt.

For me, atm, he would start in my best Liverpool 11

Alisson
Taa
Gomez
Vvd
Robbo

Gini
Kieta
Shaqiri

Mane
Firmino
Salah

That said, shaq has performed better with fabinho behind him.

I mean. If you actually listened to the manager, you would know why. He explained why shaq was on the bench today in his post match.
But sure, let’s bitch and moan after our most dominate performance of the season 👍🏻.

It pains me to write it but I think the team may have developed to the point where Lallana has been left behind. He seems to need too many touches and slows things down unnecessarily. I hope I’m wrong and he is just finding his way back after such a long time out because I really like him as an attacking midfielder.
Fabinho and Wijnaldum in tandem were immense again today. Klopp has a real headache selecting his midfielders from the riches on offer - those two, Hendo, Milliie, Shaq, Keita, Lallana, The Ox (when fit) .
By the way, the referee was awful today. To their credit, Cardiff didn’t kick lumps off us or waste time as I predicted in an earlier post today but they did manhandle Mo to an extraordinary degree and the referee refused to penalise them. The worst example was in the first half when he refused Mo a blatant penalty when he was hauled down in the box. Incompetent or something more sinister? I wonder.

I agree. He was taken off after 60 mins on Wednesday after arguably a man of the match performance. He should have been rewarded with starting today. And what a difference he made when he came on! He could absolutely fill the Coutinho hole. He’s strong, direct and quick. Lallana is just too slow. He won’t lose the ball but he’ll do at least one Cruyff turn every time it comes to him. I feel sorry for him as injuries have really hampered his time here. And now with Fabinho, Keita, Milner, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri and Henderson, he’s 7th choice. And that’s not including the Ox. I’d be surprised if he stays much longer at the vlib.

Lallana needs minutes to bring his sharpness back. It will be beneficial for us in the long run to have another starting caliber player fit and available.

Wirral, regrettably I have to agree with you. I wish it weren’t the case.

Spot on, Stone and Wirral. The team Lallana thrived in in 16/ 17 no longer exists. This team has left that team behind and has developed nicely W/ O Lallana being part of its metamorphosis. Therefore, he is playing catch-up and is massively lagging behind. Will he come up to speed? I don't know cos every week, this team gets better and better and if that keeps happening, Lallana will NEVER catch hence, will be of no use to us.

Two things

How good has Salah been without milner running around the pitch playing in the void Salah would - Milner wasnt there last year and salah started banging them in

Also lallana is fancy footwork no end product, id play others that can't get game time, but we all know its politics and he wants to put lallana for sale in the jan window but it should not be at the expense of dropping points

basically lallana and milner should not be in the first time.

Yeah agreed rb, good observation.

Lallana is basically too slow, both in terms of actual speed and in terms of speed of thought, and just doesn't suit our style. If we were looking for a player who can operate in the CAM/ LM/ RM position as a back-up we may as well recall Harry Wilson as he has looked good for Derby, has a lot of energy about his play, and is certainly no worse than Lallana at this point in time.

Have to say as well, as I have criticised Gini when he hasn't performed, that he is probably playing as consistently well as I have ever seen at the moment. Fair play to the lad and long may it continue.

Lallana hasn’t had chance to prove himself.

Let’s judge him once he’s match fit and had a dozen games.

Agreed, Ron. Let's see what happens. he may end up surprising me the same way Ox, Robbo and Shaq is currently doing and long (re: Shaq) may it continue.

I think Lallana will fill a gap in the squad whilst Ox is out of action. He’s not a regular starter, just like Shaq is not a regular starter, but they are both decent coming off the bench. Both techinically gifted, both can hold on to the ball to slow the pace of the game down. Shaq is gifted on set pieces too.
Klopp has got a good squad together and he’s using it very well so far 🤝.
