Evening Ed1 if you have time I'd be interested in your view of Phil Thompson as player and captain (also in comparison to who he succeeded and preceded as captain) . Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - I have to be honest he was before my time in that respect. I remember him better from his shop in Kirkby and then later as assistant to Ged, rather than as player and captain. He does genuinely love the club, I know that much. He was a fan who lived the dream of captaining the team he loved to glory.}

Cheers anyway Ed. Enjoy the match 👍.

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate, let's hope we all enjoy it!}

I love Phil Thompsons passion for the club but, like Souness, i can’t say i agree with a lot of the things he says as a pundit. Having said that, if i was forced to sit in the company of Le Tissier, Nicholas and worst of all, Merson, then i imagine my IQ would decline at a rate of knots as well.

I bought my grandad a legend's tour of Anfield a few years ago (admittedly gaining a free lift to Liverpool myself 😏), Phil Thompson was the legend.

I have to agree with Ed001 in that he does genuinely love the club, and he's literally one of the funniest guys I've met! He was also way before my time, but my grandad holds him in very high regard!

Agree Anonymous, clearly loves the club, but I cringe sometimes at his comments, they can seem a bit naive for someone of his experience.
I did have the pleasure of watching him play a number of times. His passion for the club off the field was also matched on it.
