The squad really does have a purposeful and focused energy about it right now. Bar the league cup defeat, which could easily have been a 4-2 win we've looked powerful, controlled and hungry. Very impressed in the transformation. I understand the impatience of some who want to see our midfield purring and stroking the ball around the opposition like City but you have to see the value in our options to disrupt and give out bloody noses too. Hendo, Milner and Gini are proving their worth and whilst we may see Keita and Fabinho start to get game time I think there'll still be times when Klopp wants to disrupt the opposition with his worker bees like Milner.

PS how good is Joe Gomez looking? Still some refining to do but he's looking like some player!

Agreed fpf. I'm so impressed with gomez, so cool in possession, even in his six yard box! I predict he will become one of the best cbs in the world, yes, that's world class. He is not far from it already.

I have to say I wouldn't have expected Gomez to settle into CB so well. He has done exceptionally well for me. A massive tick, a bargain buy. Well done Liverpool.

He is skillful too. Sends approaching forwards the wrong way by wiggling his ear, in 3 years he will be one of the best in the world. I can't believe my first reply got 3 thumbs down. I know he is still young, and not perfect but he is getting pretty close, and working with vvd will help no ends.

Gomez and Wijnaldum so far has been the two best players imo. Never thought I would ever praise Wijnaldum lol. Has been top clsss in the holding role. Gomez benefits massively from Allison and VVD.

I remember people running their mouths as to how Gomez would not be good enough to play CB cos of his mistakes at RB last season. I was never concerned. Why? I knew he was talented and had every tool needed to be a top CB. Again, Klopp played a blinder here. Gomez needed to be playing (the position did NOT matter) cos if you want him to learn the position, he has to learn by playing IN the defence itself. Carra did the same and most top CB's did as well thru the years.

Gomez is Calm, cool, composed, good in the air, great passing ability out of the back. Pace? No. Gomez does not have pace. He has blinding speed. I was taken aback as to how he bore down on Willian who was a few steps ahead of him. Gomez closed on him so quickly that even Willian seemed shocked. Now is he the finished article yet? No. Will he make mistakes? Absolutely. But that won't change my opinion of him. The kid is BOSS!

Spot on brover mate. My best mate supports the mancs and I got serious abuse when I said last year to him that Gomez is a future Liverpool and England captain. He has everything to be a top centre half. Just needs to keep what he is doing and keep learning from the best cb in the league vvd.
