Nice read.
A few things I’d disagree on.
Our pressing first half was poor, their back four, and in particular Luiz, had far too much time and this was the foundation for our first half difficulties.
TAA had a tough time with Hazard, though he doesn’t get the best protection from Salah to be fair. I still think there’s a case to be had for man marking Hazard, though it would entail a change of formation.

This site is so tough on Wijnaldum, I think it stems from Ed001’s dislike of him.
First half, he was poor I’d agree. But second half was very good, his boundless energy helping us to get on top.
And conversely there’s no way Firmino was a 7.5 for me. For 70 odd minutes he was anonymous and then came round near the end.
When Firmino plays well, Liverpool purr. But that was, overall, a 6 or 6.5 at most, from him, I felt?
Deserved draw though and a good game.

{Ed001's Note - I don't dislike him. I wish people would stop trying to make things personal.}

Tough love then Ed, lol.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, I just think he is not playing to his true potential. I seen him a lot when he was a kid and the lad should be being compared with Hazard. The fact that he isn't is all on him.}

I think it's more a case of doesn't rate him, which is a totally different thing.

{Ed001's Note - again not true, I do rate him, I just do not think he plays to his potential.}

@Juicer - Wijinaldum did nothing in the first half and very little second half - we were on top for most of the second half which is why he had more of the ball, but did he actually do anything good with it? the 'he keeps play ticking over' argument is fine if he does other things as well but he was never really effective offensively or defensively thus my rating. I was singing his praises a few weeks ago when he performed excellently - ED001's opinion, as much as I respect it, has no effect on my own.

Firmino was given very little space and time on the ball yet still found ways to create space, find team mates and link up play. I though he did well and certainly performed better than a 6 or 6.5 - that is only my opinion though and you are, of course, entitled to yours.

Watch him off the ball, Seano.
I had a Dutch stream on a game last season and they had a camera tracking his runs. Amazing energy.
He’s central to Klopp’s style. I think, if Keita develops, that Henderson could be more at risk of losing his place in the midfield three than Gini.
We should have a Wijnaldum Day, when we all follow him and not the ball.

{Ed001's Note - that is not the issue. The issue is that he takes too many touches and slows attacks down, there were a number of times he had the option to play a quick pass down the side of Chelsea in the second half yesterday but he took another touch and the chance was gone. The ball would then end up going sideways and backwards and we wasted time we could ill afford.

Then there are his runs, prior to his goal anyway as this issue vanished the moment he scored, possibly due to confidence. His runs used to take him into hiding, into places that no one could pass to him. Then he scored, and his game went up a level or two and his runs became constructive.}

That’s fairer criticism, his work on the ball could be better at times.
I think it could be a confidence issue because, of Milner and Henderson, he is the one that can be the most positive going forward and probably provides the greater goal threat of the three.
He should be netting 10 goals plus, a season?
Having said that, I think he’d maybe benefit from Keita as a central midfield partner. That would take some of the offensive pressure off him?
Keita central, Wijnaldum and AN Other.
I still love Hendo though, it’s purely business.

{Ed001's Note - on present form Gini and Millie have to be in there.}

Can’t quite make up my mind on Allison for their goal and whether I think he should have stopped that one, would be interested to hear others thoughts, ed1 and ed25 (did t he say he used to be a keeper) in particular. I think when hazard hit it, Allison wasn’t set his feet were just off the ground which may have impacted in him getting down to it, and seano is right to say it was bobbling. I think my question is whether that was a saveable shot or not, and on upgrading our keeper was it that kind of situation you anticipated Allison making a difference to those who have gone before?

{Ed001's Note - he was well positioned, I think it was just a good finish. No keeper can save everything. If he had been further over, where he could have saved it, the near post would have been open, which is a much easier shot for Hazard to take.}

Salah will still score 25+ this season. He gets in too many good positions and is too much of a good player not to, in the system we play. It is very early in the season still.

Very generous of you to give Gini a 6. He was awful, that back pass as well! what was he thinking. He is just not good enough Can't wait for Keita to fully settle to get him Gini away from the starting 11.

@The Juicer - Gini has started the season pretty well and, in a number of games already this season I have sang his praises. He was, in my opinion, poor against Chelsea though and had one of his anonymous games were he looks to be lacking confidence. As Ed001 has already stated the lad has the talent to be special, that we rarely see it is hugely frustrating.

Hi Seano,

thanks for the review. agree with you on so many points.

Alisson - what a keeper we have now! his one vs one is so good! decisive and rushes the attacking player to make a decision. could he have done better with the shot? just very slightly. he could have set himself up a little earlier but as Ed001 pointed out, he needed to cover his near post. Hazard is playing at the level Suarez was in his final season with us - making the right decisions most of the time and executing them to perfection. As such, he puts the ball it the most difficult place for the keeper, so i've no complaints about that being let in.

Gini - totally agree. whenever he turns with the ball and drive forward and looked promising, he would either slow it down, take too many touches, or choose the safest pass, hence, there is no impact in his driving forward. sometimes i wish he would just try the through ball, hold the ball longer till someone closes him down then release it, or even driving right into the opposition box and shoot. alas, 9.9/ 10 times he does none of that and just stops the attack. now that Ed001 has spoken that Gini should be talked about in the same category as Hazard makes it all the more frustrating. because you can see that he clearly has some good natural attributes, yet, he is not even a mile close to the level that he could have attained.

Gomez - he's really developing very well isn't it? i was slightly surprised at his lack of speed when trying to catch Hazard though cause he does have that pace. i suppose he also didn't slide in for the block as he wanted to stay on this feet to prevent Hazard from turning. all in all, once Hazard broke free, it was very hard to stop him; he should never have been allowed to run free.

Lamborini I9I, two simple questions for you. If Wijnaldum is not good enough, why does Klopp keep picking him? Or do you claim to know better than our manager? Cast aside your blinkered prejudice and watch what he actually does for the team.

@sgynwa - agree mate, think it is very promising how well Gomez is developing as a player. Has come on leaps and bounds and has a fantastic partner in Van Dijk to learn from - destiny is in his own hands now. Only thing I can say per the Hazard goal is Hazard is absolutely rapid and a world class player, and he has shown it against us.

As for Alisson he is clearly class and a huge upgrade on Karius and Mignolet. If he does get stick for that Hazard goal it is very harsh in my opinion.

Gini has looked very good this season in a number of matches and, I think I made him MOTM in a review for a game this season. I don't think ED001 is wrong when he says he should be at a level similar to Hazard because, when you see him playing freely and with belief he is so difficult for the opposition to stop. Mentally the lad struggles and I thought he retreated within himself for much of the game. He still adds quality to the first team and squad, what he needs now is consistency - if he provides that then he will be formidable, if he doesn't then I see Oxlaide-Chamberlain overtaking him in the pecking order when he returns (so long as there are no long term hang ups from the injury - and that is far from guaranteed) .
