Now then Ed001. How are you mate?

Would you change much for Saints game tomorrow? Maybe rest Salah for Shaqiri or bring in Fabinho?

{Ed001's Note - only if the sports scientists say someone needs a rest. My big worry would be Milner, he did show signs of fatigue at the end of the game against PSG, unsurprisingly. Might be time for him to have a day off. Other than that, and then only if he does actually need a rest, I would go with the same team as played last weekend.}

Play the strongest team possible and give some a rest for the cup. need to try and keep our league form going.

I think there will only be 1 or 2 changes for Southampton (maybe Keita starting? ) but I expect a complete change for Chelsea midweek i. e. Clyne, Moreno, Matip, Fabinho, Shaq, Mignolet all starting.

This will not be popular but I'm of the opinion the most important competition is the one you are currently playing in. So on Tuesday the most important competition for Liverpool should be the cup. If a player needs a rest then they should be rested but not because it's a league cup game. Liverpool haven't won anything for six years, the league cup is the first trophy you can win and should be gone after with the same vigour as all the others. Momentum is a big thing and if Liverpool change 7 or 8 players and get beat by Chelsea, the following Saturday the momentum is with them. Play the strongest team available and rest when needed.

I don't think the Fabinho cameo against PSG was a coincidence. Maybe a signal by Klopp indicating that he thinks he's ready? Would not be a bad idea to rest Milner and start Fabinho, playing behind Wijnaldum and Henderson. If things don't go well, Milner can always come in, being the Eveready battery that he is.

Fabinho and Keita for Milner and Wijnaldum. They were both all over the pitch against PSG. Wouldn't mind if Klopp starts Sturridge too.

One hand I want Salah rested, on the other I'm thinking he's on the brink of it all clicking again and he could rip Saints apart.

Great post by ArAy1969 and Kimuraking. th

Id we start with Sturridge then that is guarenteed a substirion.
Solanko would be a better option as Southhampton can be phyisical and Sturridge does not have that within him.

Whatever you say, Dom.

I understand what you’re saying Kim, but I’m wondering if a few changes of players who are hopefully desperate to break into the team would be a good thing. By all accounts we suffered the worst hangover from European games last season struggling badly after the CL games. I couldn’t tell you whether we were playing the same teams or if we were rotating to be honest. I’d like to think that lessons have been learned from last season and whatever happened won’t go wrong again. After such a great start it’s be so amazing to keep this momentum going and set up a real title challenge.

Sturridge showed he is way higher than dom solanke in ability. Solanke has a big future but Dan is different class on his night.

I think it’s inportant to get players up and running before we need to rotate. I’d start Shaqiri and Fabinho give Milner a well deserved rest.

We need to use the squad effectively the season as poor squad utilisation has cost us several times at the business end of the season.
If you don’t utilise the squad you end up with fatigued, suspended or injured players in April and May.
