Nice one ed. Great read.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. Even me dad, who doesn't really like footie, is trying to copy Bobby today. He had surgery to remove a cataract and so has one eye covered up. He looks like a really bad tribute act right now....}

Thanks Ed. Have you ever rated Gini that high and did you ever think you would? Great read and I hope your dad is okay.

{Ed001's Note - I have only just added ratings, so no to both. Cheers mate, he is fine, never happier than when he has something to moan about so he will be happy as larry right now.}

Good write up Ed01. I'm glad wjinaldum caught your eye. I thought he was very good too. He is not keeping keita out of the team for nothing. Needs more consistency yes.

I was impressed by trent. It is so easy to forget he is 19! Gomez impressed me too. After the way lovren dealt with Ronaldo in the CL final I thought we might miss him last night against neymar and Co but young gomez is really impressing. At this rate dejan may struggle to get back in the team. There have been question marks over gomez' size but I think he is bigger than he sometimes looks on camera. You just need to look at him in the national anthem. He's a big lad. I think it's his baby face and he is well proportioned.

{Ed001's Note - it doesn't help standing next to the man mountain VVD. Most people look small in comparison.}

Very true Ed. It goes without saying how good van dijk was, I also share your faith in alisson. Everything he should have done so far he has done. No keeper is infallible and he will make mistakes, same as de gea does but on a whole he is so calm and steady.

{Ed001's Note - I knew Alisson was good but I never expected him to lift the whole defence the way he has.}

Pleasing to see the midfield and full backs contributing to the goal tally, as we discussed after the Spurs game.
Was it Gomez who brought the ball out under pressure, Jocky Hansen style, in the second half?
Anyway I enjoyed your summary, good stuff. Thanks again.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, Gomez did bring the ball out under pressure well. Really pleasing to see him blossoming as a ball playing centre half.

You are very welcome mate.}

Thanks very much for that Ed, great read as always mate I agree with all of that especially about Gomez, the lad needed his chance and now he's been given it, he's just shining isn't he. Right now he can't be dropped for anybody because he's playing the best football I've seen him play yet! Sure he could improve here and there but at 21 years old he has plenty of time doesn't he mate. I'm very excited about the lad. This is the season he'll make a real name for himself imo.

{Ed001's Note - Lovren will have a real job on to get back into the team this season.}

Have to give the PSG fans a 9 for last night, they provided great support to their team.
It was fantastic to finally shut them up near the end though.
I somehow had the opinion that all PSG’s fans were sophisticated yuppies but there looked to be some right meat heads there, lol.

{Ed001's Note - apart from when they were throwing stuff at the corner takers.}

It's a similar effect that van dijk had last winter. Klopp and the recruitment boys know what they're doing.

I can help you with the Alisson review ed. He did nothing wrong, had no chance with either goal and was his usual calming influence although he didn’t have much to do.
One thing I did notice is he misplaced a couple of passes badly and generally didn’t look as comfortable as usual with the ball at his feet. Maybe a hangover from the Leicester mistake but I just hope it’s not due to poor coaching. We could really do without ruining this keeper too.
I’d give him a 7 out of 10 overall.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

Of course everything is good but we have never found a way to replace Coutinho's beautiful diagnol balls to Salah.

hey ed001, when u mentioned about Tuchel, i feel like i spotted this but i wanted to have your opinion on this.

I noticed PSG was playing at the back a little bit in an attempt (possibly) to draw liverpool out to press. but like u mentioned since the 2nd half of last season we haven't really been pressing like the traditional geggenpressing and its more of the calculated pressing. was this another example of a wrong decision from Tuchel or am i just thinking too much? haha.

{Ed001's Note - it is very possible. One of the main criticisms of Tuchel is his constant tinkering with tactics for every game, he tries to be clever and it often backfires. The other is he is hopeless with egos, but he is lucky because he doesn't have any of those to deal with at PSG right?}

hahah yeah, he definitely no ego problems in PSG to deal with ed XD.

i felt like they wasted a lot of time playing at the back that barely pulled our players for a press in their own half, especially in the second half since they were down 2 - 1 at that time. and their first shot in the second half came from a misplaced pass from Salah, hardly a result of passing around at the back like that.

anyways great review again ed, it really feels great to be a liverpool fan, honestly even when we were 1 down i had that belief in the team that we could snatch a win even up till the last second. 2 wins so far from a supposedly difficult month for us, ill take that.

{Ed001's Note - 6 wins out of 6 so far, long may it continue!}

Ed on Alison, the strike from Neymar which Alison saved but almost fell to Cavani, should he could have done better? I don't know whether that's fine or not.
And as for Hendo's rating, being a big fan of him, you had harsh rating for him :p .

{Ed001's Note - I am torn on that save. Some angles make it look like he did not have time to do any more than just get something on it. Others make it look like he should have done better. So I don't know.

As for Hendo, I guess it may have been low. It is hard to pick a number when doing these.}

Good Review Ed, only thing i'd say is 7.5 seems a bit tight for Henderson. Thought he had a great game, hard to impress like Milner when you have to be so restrained covering for players, but his performance caught my eye for the amount of tackles he got in, and I lost count how many times he won the ball back.

{Ed001's Note - I know, I know, I probably should have given him an 8 really for the way he played thinking back.}

Just seen this Ed. Thanks for the article. Yeah Hendo could have been bumped up but a spot on match review. I was really impressed with Big Shaq. Guy looks hungry and really confident. Clearly out to prove he can be a team player which is great for the season ahead.

{Ed001's Note - let's just hope he keeps it up.}
