Good morning Ed1, Ed2, Ed25, Ed33 all the other Eds and everybody else!

So I wanted to share this yesterday but didn't get around to doing so (bloody wedding aniversary) .

So I'm marking this day and every other day as the Ed appreciation day, they don't get enough appreciation, apart from Christmas and New year time you see every other poster making a post about how thankful they are to the Eds, let's all thank the Eds today for everything they do.

Let's go a bit deeper! Ok so last week I wanted to donate £2000 to the Eds so they could split it, I've always donated to charaties and although they aren't a charity in my opinion it was just the right thing to do because what they do for these sites and the community they have built, it's incredible really isn't it? I've said this before and I don't want to go repeating myself but I think it's far too easy for us as posters to forget all of the work what goes into these sites and only two of them get paid for it! you see what I mean?

Anyway, the conversation was with Ed1 and he/ Ed33 politely declined the money but Ed1 suggested to donate it to St Johns Ambulance because they mean a lot to him personally so I thought that was a great idea. Yesterday I donated £1400 to them, it was originally going to be £1500 but I'll get to that in a minute. £500 will be saved for the charity game next year by the way.

So there's £100 left, now before I start I want to just point out, I'm no angel, I'm a normal fella living a normal life but I've been through struggles in life and I'm not talking about the recent one with me getting attacked but I mean mental struggles, financial struggles etc I'm not a Mr know it all but I've been through it let me tell you. Right now, life is treating me well and I just feel like it's only right to give back when I can.

After all the support I got on here, I just need to do something for somebody, I got messages of support from so bloody many of you and I wish I could thank you all individually but there's far too many who posted! But anyway, out of all them people, there's atleast one of you who will be going through finincial difficulties right now, there's nothing wrong with that apart from it being rubbish for yourself and sometimes you just need a little help right? well if you do give me an email and the £100 is yours. (Appolagies for the dissapointment) .

Again I'm no special person, I just think it's the right thing to do, to give back a little. Today isn't about me it's about the Eds, I really hope you can all come together and thank the Eds for what they do, they are incredible people in so many ways, I mean to reject even money offered to them shows this so those who are abusive to them I advise you really think twice before going on one because they don't deserve it at all.

If you've got this far I thank you, I thank you for the messages of support, I thank the Eds for everything you fellas do, it's really special this website so let's treat it with the respect it deserves.

With everything you've gone through recently mate, most people would be using all the strength the have to recover both mentally and physically so for you to be sitting there wondering what you can do to help other people out really does speak volumes as to the person you are. I've been through the toughest two years of my life and it's still going on but as silly as it sounds, the solace I have taken from the people on this site, both eds and reds has really helped me through it.

I'm sure that money will go to help someone who genuinely needs it and it could be at a time when they think there is no one they can turn to so that gesture by you could be the one thing that literally turns someone's life around at their lowest ebb so for that Salah, I applaud you. Anyone who's losing faith in humanity, I urge them to read through this site when people have problems and look at the support they get from people they've never met before and it will restore it. Well done Salah, fortunately for me I won't need to send that email but anyone that does, don't let pride stand in the way, use it for what you need and when life turns around for you, hopefully you'll be in a position to pay it forward to someone else in need.

I relocate back to the UK in a couple of weeks for 4 years to be back with my children after a long court battle. After a month to get me settled I would happily do something similar, we're one family on here so anyone struggling, I don't know if it's something the eds could set up where we could have an anonymous donation pot on here and any poster really struggling with nowhere else to turn could drop the eds an email and a percentage of the pot or the whole pot could be given to these posters at the eds discretion. Just a thought and another example of us ensuring no one on this site ever walks alone.

Well done Salah. It is good to give when the opportunity arises. I'm sure the £100 Will go to a good home and the £1400 is amazing. You should feel proud of yourself, so again well done. The Eds? They aren't a bad bunch, even Ed25, they deserve to be treated how you would expect people to treat you is the best way I can put it.

Hats off to all of the Eds. Ed001, I bet when you set this site up all of those years ago, you wouldn't have imagined a thread like this? What an achievement for you and all of your team. You all should feel proud of what you have built. Nothing comes close.

Evening all, sorry for the late reply I've only just managed to get onto my computer. Thank you all so much for the kind words, you lot on here are a special bunch of people that's for damn sure. I am no better than any of you, I'm just a normal fella who is fortunate enough to be able to give a little back now you know? that doesn't make me a special person I'm just doing what I personally feel is right.

I got a lot of help in my dark times, so many times from people in life who never had to help me yet chose to because they're good people, now it's my turn to try and be half as good as them people :) . That's what life is about isn't it? progression.

I have received tons of emails today and I have only read a handful so far but they are sincerely touching, I will be replying to all emails asap so please don't think I'm ignoring you :) . If you missed out on the £100 I'm so very sorry but I will do my best to help you, let's see what we can sort out :) be patient and wait for my reply, as far as I know up until dinnertime tomorrow I'm doing bugger all so will try and get all emails replied to.

The person who messaged first is a regular of the site and really does deserve it but I won't share details unless I get his blessing to do so :) .

Salah, just want to concur with other posters. To go through what you suffered and come out the other side donating what is a significant sum of money to charity and £100 to a relative stranger speaks volumes about you.

I am full of respect and admiration for you and it is gestures like that which restore a little faith in humanity.
