One of the weaknesses of our recent GK's has been their lack of authority in the box. Defenders just did not trust that high balls would be dealt with and you could see the "is he coming to claim or not" in the defenders. Alisson has already shown the improvement in this area. I have seen this on a few occasions one especially against Brighton when he came almost to the edge of his box to punch away a high ball which immediately negated any danger. He manner in which he did it was most impressive, he never took his eye off the ball and if anyone got in his way, tough, that balls getting cleared. He has boosted my confidence in our ability at defending set pieces. I agree he may be walking a bit of a tightrope by over dribbling but this is something that can be easily rectified. I personally think he has made a good start with the team.

Really liked the punch you are referring to in which he came to edge of box for. Not only that, it was fact he delicately puched it down to one of our players in the left back area setting us on a counter was a clever little bit of thinking that easy to go unototice.

{Ed0333's Note - Becker is gonna be a Liverpool legend. I was all for keeping Karius as no 1 but after seeing this guy for the last three games I’m hooked. Allison is what we’ve needed since Reina left. I can’t believe it’s taken us that long to get a decent keeper. I have no problems admitting I thought we overpayed for him a judgement based on watching him against us in the Champions League and the World Cup. How wrong was I. For me he’s the pied piper of Anfield, he can chip as many defenders as he wants it’s part of his game, it gives him confidence and we don’t want to mess with him psychologically as we all know how debilitating that can be for a keeper. Also my Mrs was bereft when Karius left she’s more than happy with his replacement, I’m assuming that is for non footballing reasons.

Yea what is that? I thought keepers were meant to be weird looking psychos, not the sort of poster boy type your mother makes uncomfortable comments about.
