I'm a Celtic fan, I'm gutted Celtic let Andy Robertson leave as a youngster. I don't know how you all feel, but I watch EPL every time it's on tv. For me Andy Robertson is the best LB in the league. Is that me being bias or do you Liverpool fans agree? The boy just gets better and better.

{Ed002's Note - It is used being biased, but the green and white tinted specs are masking reality.}

So u don't agree ed? Or don't rate him as highly as me? . I seen an interview with klopp not long ago and he seems to think he's quality. It's just my opinion and I respect yours. I think going forward and delivery are first class.

{Ed002's Note - I don’t see him as the “best” in the PL - maybe in the future but he has had a short career so far. Klopp is always going to say he thinks his players are good.}

Mendy all day long. That lad is a class act. Robertson is a trier, whereas Mendy doesn't need to try to be top notch.

Mendy? Are you joking 😂 all three games he’s made errors, looked confused and quite frankly is only showing he’s a speed merchant.
Being the best is subjective, it ebs an flows. Mendy had a horrible injury and will most likely improve, but right now, in current form, Robertson is playing as the best lb in the league. Along with Alonso.

Well said Benny. Think the wee guy is a class act. Even though he tries to be and others just are 👍👀.

Robertson is certainly improving all the time Faddy. I've seen him quite a bit live now, for Scotland and Liverpool. I don't why your gutted you let him go when you've got Tierney whose delivery is probably more consistent than Robertson's. Celtic letting him go probably gave him the hunger, desire and attitude that's benefiting the Reds right now .

Mendy looks as bad defensively as Moreno. Of course he will get better as the season goes on but Robbo edges it for me for now.

Alonso for me, Mendy is good but he had a bad day at the office yesterday, traore rinsed him on more than one occasion and he’s not very good.

Liddelland, appreciate your comment mate. But AR is playing with better players in a better league and got to CL final last season. So he's played consistently well at a higher level. You must know that all us in Scotland hold young Kieran in the highest regard and so does the national teams manager (s) . Don't know what the opinion of him is down south. But young Andy has went from strength to strength. remember, only 4/ 5 years ago he was playing in front of 150 fans each week for queens park. What a journey and what a story. The model professional and a steal for Liverpool regarding transfer fee.

{Ed0333's Note - he was a steal because we were one of the very few teams that had the conviction to go in for him. No one could foresee his trajectory. Personally I still think he has a ways to go before the eulogies commence but he has a super attitude which will tremendously help him on his quest.

I'd put Robertson ahead defensively but attacking wise mendy is the better player - the balls he puts into the box are superb. Robertson has he's moments but they are not as consistent. I'm not sure either is the best in the league though.

"Andy Robertson is the best LB in the league"

haha.

They’re not fullbacks though, are they?

They’re wingbacks which is a totally different discussion.
There are a lot of candidates with the exact same strengths and weaknesses.

Backspace- I don’t see it as a hilarious statement, the only 2 players mentioned as being better are Mendy and Alonso who id personally say are worse defenders than Andy. Rose probably was the best the season before last but with his lack of game time the last 12 months I don’t think you could rate him that high now, Baines ain’t the player he was, Kolasinac has been a let down at Arsenal so far. There is a distinct lack of quality in the position and if Robertson isn’t the best he’s defiantly in the top 3/ 4 and in the equation.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think Alonso is anywhere near the same level. He is too busy trying to be a centre forward for 80 minutes of the game to have any use as a full back.}

Out of interest who in the league is rated higher?

Mendy will end up with more assists this season than TAA and Robertson put together, but agains't the top sides inc LFC Mendy will become a problem for City. Mendy is a very poor defender and he will cost them as the season goes on.

I like Robertson and prefer him over Mendy for our team, not as good going forward but a lot better in defence and with a top attitude.

Hold on with regards to Mendy.

Traore clocks some of the fastest speeds in the prem and came on fresh legg3d against a player who had been up and down the entire pitch all game. Mendy and robbo are edging eachother right about now and i5s p4obably going to cone down to which team wins the league for who has the best lb this season.

{Ed001's Note - Mendy was getting torn a new one constantly against Costa anyway. Traore is dog turd and yet still destroyed Mendy.}

I’m not sure if he’s the ‘best’. But I wouldn’t swap him for any others in the league as he suits us perfectly.

Andy Robertson is an absolute bargain. One of the Premier League buys of the decade, along with Dele Ali and possibly the best bit of business the club has done since big Sami Hyppia imo.

{Ed002's Note - After playing only 20 or 30 games for Liverpool I would doubt there is enough to say he is one of the "buys of the decade". And of course another who was not Klopp's choice.}

Robertson reminds me of Steve Finnan, always reliable and extremely competent. 7/ 10 player minimum every game. He’s definitely one of the best left back’s playing in the league and has never shown himself found wanting what impressed me is his willingness to work.

Cheers for the reply Faddy, yeas I am fully aware the high regard KT is thought off quality player so he is. It's typical of Scotland to have our best 2 players play the same position lol. I just think that the disappointment of Celtic releasing AR has had a positive impact on him. I think he now knows he is still learning but he is also willing to learn. I can't fault his attitude and I believe he will get better. He also seems right pally with Milner who I think is a great example to a youngster of attitude and work ethic.

God we do like to go overboard about our own players, nothing like being objective eh? Robertson is an ok defender on average, nothing more. Often allows a cross to get put in or gets beaten by his man. However, he has had some useful performances in some very important matches. In an attacking sense he is getting better but still wastes more chances in good positions than he utilises. What I'm saying is if he is the best in the league then that's a sad endictment of full backs in the league. Seeing as defending is second place for fullbacks in top teams nowadays and how many goals Mendy will provide versus how many he will be responsible for conceding, I know which out of the two I'd prefer in my team. He passes to teammates from out wide rather than simply putting the ball in a useful area, as Robertson tries to do and often fails. In truth, if both our full backs could cross to a better than average level we'd be far more dangerous.

I don't know about Robertson being the best LB in the league, but Mendy and Alonso aren't exactly the best defenders the league have seen. I'd choose Azpi if he actually played that role again, but Robertson is one of the top 5 purely because he's a decent player and there's not really anyone who can make a case for being the best fullback, let alone LB in the league.
