The only position that concerns me is who will partner VVD. Gomez has made a great start but I'm worried about consistency.
don't really rate Matip but Klopp seems to really rate Matip and if Klopp rates him then that's what matters. Lovren has proven himself the most since January. That's 9 months of consistency and he should be back by time we take on top 6 teams. Then there's Fabinho but I doubt he'll play there unless there's a real urgency. Some people had concerns about his talent because he wasn't included in Brazil's WC squad but neither was Malcolm but that didn't stop Barcelona from splashing the cash on him. It's just very difficult for Brazil to be sure who their best players are because of the ridiculous amount of talent that they have.

Gomes to would never maintain concistantcy until he actually plays regularly, as you also mentioned there are 2 other options to pick from. While you might see Matip as suitable back up and kloopboss rating him highly just goes to the many different views are out there on playing stuff. I honestly don't think Fabs should not be even considered to play CB as he isn't 1, would rather play him in a position his actually good at instead of repeating the whole thing of having another Marko situation where a new player is being used as a wingback when his not.

Main difference this season is that behind them they have a world class keeper. the assurance, organisation and communication he will bring will be a major improvement.

Gomez has more potential than Lovren or Matip, I'm really hoping he gets a run in the team. He and VVD could be partners for the next 8 years.
