Great to be back an Anfield yesterday.

What a player Keita looks.

But for me, Milner. An inspiration to any young reds coming through the ranks. Ed001 he was immense once again yesterday!

{Ed001's Note - he was excellent. Always good to see when it is a player with such a great attitude.}

I agree ed. He continues like that and Fabinho is going to have to wait his turn just like Ox did. I’ll Still be shocked if Both Of Lallana and Wijnaldum stay. And I actually think Wijnaldum is decent, but our midfield is looking good again!

{Ed001's Note - very good, and all this without the one more signing Klopp wanted in there.}

Milner and Gini were both fantastic. The only thing you might be able to say about them is their goal scoring record is relatively poor, Gini in particular had a fantastic chance and fluffed his lines and looked like it’s on his mind for sure.

Given our front three, we are prolific enough not to be too concerned, but in a really tight match that can be the difference, which someone like KDB or Pogba or Eriksson would be more likely to convert.

Hopefully Keita helps ease the pressure on goals from midfield a bit, but that’s the only hesitation I’d have about playing Milner and Gini in the same team in the more attacking midfield roles at the same time.

Exactly Ed001. All of that without Chambo, Fabinho and Hendo. And even Fekir who Klopp was desperate to sign. The midfield trio that played West Ham had everything in their locker and the other midfielders that were on the bench should be made to fight for a first team place (though I think Hendo walks into the team for next weekend and Fabinho will have to bide his time) .
Unfortunately, I still think City have a bit too much quality and depth to not win the league again.

I'm a big gini fan. Hoping he stays and gets more opportunities to push forward.

Ed who was the signing klopp wanted in there a defender? An attacker? More than likely fekir or Vida as u say the soldier as I agree.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp wanted to take Dani Ceballos on a loan to buy but the player did not want to leave Spain. Liverpool never spoke with Lyon again after the initial screwing around over price.}

Is James Milner Benjamin Button? He seems to be improving year on year and his engine is unreal.

We can still try sturridge in there, shaqiri, Curtis, lallana and probably keita with hendo and fabinho behind.

Well stocked there.

I can't believe this is actually liverpool where watching by the way 😁.

TJred I will be shocked if lallana and Gini don't stay this season. All these players will be needed through out the long season.

We are already without the OX for what looks like most of the season.

Who does Hendo walk into the team for next game? Hardly like any of the midfield deserve to be dropped from yesterday’s performance.

I notice I got 7 thumbs down which is fair enough, don’t mean to sound critical after a stellar performance, particularly from our midfield which dominated, but I couldn’t help but notice Gini’s missed opportunity.

Looking at stats of our main midfield three last season, then just in the PL, Hendo scored one, Gini one and Milner zero. That doesn’t make them useless players, In fact they were integral to so many top performances by dominating many games and controlling the tempo to let our forwards run amok, but it shouldn’t hide the fact they didn’t convert many chances when they did come along. We need them to improve on converting chances to really take the team to the next level IMO.

BTW for comparison, KDB scored 8, Silva 9 and even Fernandinho 5.that’s 20 more goals over the course of the season.

I love our midfield but I think it’s fair to say they can still improve in converting chances themselves rather than relying on the front three only. I think Keita will help address this in part.
