another good pre season run out for the lads against kids from Manchester.
Key takeaways:
1. Fantastic crowd- good to hear YNWA and Allez allez so clear from across the pond
2. Shaqiri - what a finish, and an equally good assist. Looked busy and did good things on the ball. Did not press much though - let's see if he can be coached there
3. Fabinho looked much more in control than the previous game
4. Woodburn and Chirivella again looked good
5. Camacho continues to impress. May not be a natural right back, but could be a decent attacking option from the bench
6. Sturridge again looked good and took his goal well. Clearly the 2nd best striker after Firmino in our squad - seems to be miles ahead of Solanke Origi and Ings
7. Salah and Mane looked good and the chemistry was very visible

Cons:
1. Solanke once again failed to produce any chance (created or consumed) in 60 min of Football. He feels more like an advanced defensive midfielder than a goal scoring threat on many ocassions.

Shaqiri and Sturridge seem to have a good connection developing. What a strike by Shaqiri!

"Advanced defensive midfielder" sounds about right. I rate Solanke and want him to do well but I think he needs a loan to a lower PL or Championship side. Not going to improve significantly without regular game time.

OP, you described Solanke perfectly. I have NO idea how people rate this guy over Origi. I agree that Origi is having a 'mare in the past year BUT he clearly was NOT this poor when he first arrived and showed a LOT more in his first 2 seasons (11 goals in all comps. in his first season, 22 goals in first 2 seasons, both as 3rd choice striker) than Solanke is showing now. He definitely NEEDS to do better cos for right now, I cannot see what he does.
