Long time since I posted but you know what, in all honesty too much pissing and moaning about our GK situation.

I believe we have had a really good transfer window so far. Keita, Fabinho and Shaqiri.

All the negativity towards Shaqiry for me also unjust. He has made it clear that he was denied a move to LFC while at Bayern so let's at least give him a chance to prove he is worthy of wearing the shirt.

I doubt our transfer business is done yet. Our squad is improving season by season under Klopp so let's leave him to do the talking.

I can understand your pain Ron but Klopp is the one which decides. We have been linked with many GK's so one can only assume that a new GK will be signed.

We need to leave it up to our manager.

I don't think we 'need' another CB, we could do with one sure but don't need one. Overall I'm happy with our defence going into next season.

Plus, I don't think it's as easy as 'the club needs to move there arse' that's just nonsense talk.

Which CB, exactly Kloppsbposs? To play ahead of whom? If it is Lovren you are thinking of then you are fooling yourself cos Lovs is one of the best in the world as of now, plain and simple and he is Klopp's guy. If it for Matip then I agree BUT no top CB will come here to play as the third CB and besides, we have Klavan who can be relied upon to do a job and we still need to see if Gomez can step up at that position. Sorry BUT we have issues more pressing elsewhere than in a position where we have 5 players for 2 starting spots.

I think it is fair to say that a GK and or Ferkir are more likely to arrive than a new CB.

Well unfortunately for you mate the club seem to know more than you and it's almost certain there won't be a CB incoming so you're just going to have to deal with it and have some confidence in the team we've got.

And there's Salah, my good god you have a bone to pick. Just because the club or klopp has made that decision doesn't make it the right one bub. Lovren, vvd, klavan and Matip is not enough nor good enough for a whole season. Vvd gets injured and our cbs have all shown there garbage together. All of a sudden an elite level midfield and attack is held back by a pretty average defence.

Why on earth do we need fekir when we have firmino, Salah, mane, lallaba, keita, shaqiri, fabinho, Henderson, Milner, origi, Brewster and even Jones.

Defence wise we have robbo, vvd, Lovren, klavan, Moreno, Matip, clyne, karius and ward?

Do you not see the disparity with that my man?

Cherry on top of the cake. Fekir is a final addition. We need the cake first.

Everyone laughed and baulked at the near 100 mil we spent on vvd but just look what that did to us. Imagine another similar calibre added next to him. We got the champions league final with vvd what could we achieve with someone else of his level.

Klopboss, I think it is fair to say that Klopp is interested in playing attractive football. Not Mourinho type on any given Sunday.

We have have improved our midfield so that is a good start. Our midfileld was lacking last season so who knows, maybe some bite with Keita and Fab might just lighten the load.

I think our cake is pretty tasty right now. Assuming no first teamers leave, said cake got us to a champions league final. Fabinho and Keita make for a pretty good butter cream filling and if Fekir comes as our super glacé cherry then that'd be great. Did you lot not get frustrated about not having that option when we were struggling to make the difference towards the end of games? Our problem was breaking down teams who bank in, not losing games. We drew 12 games and only lost 5 last term, in the league. Turn those draws into wins and the table looks very different. That is achieved by scoring more goals, not just conceding less.

Oh Kloppsboss, we want a shiny new thing in Fekir BUT you don't want a shiny knew thing in a new CB (whoever the heck that is)? The irony is deafening. Fekir is the no. 10 that we need cos WE DON'T HAVE ONE while we have 5 CB's at club. How does that even make sense in terms of squad balance? You want us to go sign a VVD type CB at 75m YET you don't say who that will be. Why would Klopp wanna do that whereas we have Lovren who has proven to be one of the top 5 CB's in the world at the WC? Again, care to answer these questions.

You say if VVD gets injured and all that stuff? Who or what manager goes into a season and signs players with that in mind? You already have your depth in the squad with 4 other CB's and even if we sold one, what top CB will come here as third choice if Klopp sticks with Lovs and even you don't deny he was boss at the WC following from a brilliant CL campaign and final. And by the way, we already have the cake cos that cake made the CL final and if you think Fab, Keita, Fekir (hopefully) and a GK if one arrives are not the cherries and sprinkles on the already great cake then I can't help you.

5 CBs at the club? Really? Or is the thought that a GK will be like a fairy godmother and turn 2 bang average CBs and an unproven CB who can barely be trusted at RB because he let's the ball sail over his head? We have Lovren and VVD both good CBs and a great partnership. But until recently Lovren was always a brain fart away from being persecuted by his own fans. Now he is the Messiah! Then we have Matip, who cannot stay fit, who is inconsistent after a bright start and for me is a DCM not a CB, and a poor DCM at that. He was a free solution, a sticking plaster and he needs to be ripped off. Klavan is Estonia’s best defender but he is no Mart Poom, more of a Poo-Mart. And Gomez cannot stay fit and will we ever know whether he is a CB star or not? All 3 of these will be undermined by Karius/ Navas/ Butland, in fact we could play all 3 of them at once and Achterberg would still find away to turn them into chocolate wristed flappers. We may still do well in the CL in 2018/ 19 but if we make ourselves top heavy and fail to address the deficiencies at the back our challenge for the Premier title will be over by October. Buvac is not there to cover up Klopps defensive oversight this season. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Whether you agree with him or not kloppsboss makes a very fair point.

Imagine if vvd got injured and was out for 3 to 6 months.

Lovren and vvd looked towards the end of the season to be a good partnership that could potentially get better.

But if vvd was injured and it was lovren and matip or lovren and klavan. It definately doesn't look like a cb pairing that could push a title charge.

Perhaps then it becomes gomez's time to step up to the plate. Which is prob the most likely outcome in klopps mind.

If he's not starting then by your logic what was he bought for? Because we have wilson and ojo. Right now they would be on the same level of squad depth as matip and klavan are.

Quality in the final third does tend to take preference when it comes to squad depth though. There aren't many sides in world football with 3 world class quality cbs. But it doesn't have to be a world class cb.

Just as shiqiri was bought it would do no harm to buy another cb, Someone to challenge lovren and keep him on his toes.

Matip are klavan could easily be shown the door if a cb of better quality than them was brought in.

But like i said in the post earlier gomez may well be the man to step up this year if he gets his chance at cb. I hope he does because he could be quality if he shakes off the injuries.

And with that the problem may be solved.

A shiny new thing up front is better to watch than a shiny new thing in defence.

No-one wants there marquee player to be a cb. You want someone exciting and quality.

Then you go on about we don't have a number 10. Pretty sure the eds will agree that a midfield of hendo, fabinho and keita would more than suffice and take on every single midfield in the league and in Europe. Adding our 3 boys upfront, my good god.

Now your banging on about numbers.

So if we had 24 builders on the books at cb but only Salah, mane, firmino, keita, lallaba, shaqiri, origi, sturdier, Brewster and potentially jones/ ojo/ Kent you would still want to sign another attacker because we have more defenders?

It's about quality dude. Our 5 cbs. 1 who is very injury prone, played about 6 games for us at cb in Gomez can't be classed in the group.

Then we have vvd. He's the best cb in the league, but going for titles is having everything thought through, if he does get injured below is our options.

Lovren even though this is the season of his life, HE STILL had pleanty of stinky moments throughout the season. Even klopp in his last comments about a few days ago said it's about consistency with him.

Then klavan and Matip. Before I go on what are your aspirations? I'm moaning because I want to win the league and champions league next year. If your happy with scrapping 4th, yeah by the skin of our teeth, and losing in the champions league final then fekir is a very sensible move.

We showed last year that even even blizing teams away, having a 40 FORTY goal winger and two other 20 goal forwards we didn't make a dent on the league nor win anything.

City the year before spent 50 million on a rb, 50 million on a lb, 40 million on a gk and then 40 million on a cb in January. What did they win?

We are way to top heavy boys. If you honestly could make one more signing now out of varane and fekir who would you choose?

I agree with kloppboss and his summary is spot on about our centre backs. Matip is far from being a good centre half, he's lazy and slow, Klaven is good but on the wrong side if 20 and lovern has his good days but has plenty of bad days too. If lovern could concentrate for 90 minutes we would have one if the best pairing in the premier league. Gomes is still young and hasn't been tested out fully and then we have VVD who is very good but can go ball watching on occasion and loose sight of his man. We need a centre half who's good at organising the back 4 someone like carragher or hyppia, someone vocal. If the was someone like that we could pair with Virgil then we could get rid if Matip or Klaven or both.

It's actually very hard to pick sides here.

I agree with klopps boss - if we lose VVD to injury our defence goes from being very good to average without quality back up.

But Angry Bardzo also makes a very good point- We drew 12 games and lost 5. In the 12 games we drew, we were mainly lacking a couts type player. A player who could find that defence splitting pass or score a worldie from outside the box.

I suppose at the end of the day its down to Klopp. He has his philosophies and that's his heavy metal football. I expect him to priorities attack over defence and im happy with that.

Didnt disagree like they all act like I did about a number 10 just that a cb is motenimportsnt first.

Doesn't mean we could get them all done.
