My question to Ed001 and everyone (for debate) is whether you think Mo Salah will reach a similar goal tally with us this coming season? Do you think he can do a repeat or even go above it? (I'm referring to goals in the EPL only) .

My guess is that he may reach 22-25 goals but probably not beyond. The reasons being a) EPL teams are smart and many will find ways to counter effectively what they've been seeing from us all season long with the front 3, so Klopp may have to tinker with the tacics a bit, b) if an efficient No.10 is brought in (whether it's Fekir or Brandt or another) I expect the offensive play to be more "spread around" therefore having this player take up some of the goals, and c) I expect both Keita and Fabinho to chip in with more goals (they've both shown this ability) than we have gotten from our previous midfield (Henderson, Ox, Wijnaldum and Can), so spreading around the goal tally even more.

You could argue that he could score the same 32 goals or even more, with the newcomers making a very good contribution in goals too, if you look at ManC's tally of 106 goals for the season and ours of 84. But I don't think it will happen. What do you think?

{Ed001's Note - pretty much the same as you, I think he will get a very good goal tally but just a bit short of last season.}

Personally I think he'll score more, with the likes of Keita and Fabinho, maybe Fekir and Hendo behind him it's a huge upgrade on last season, it's hard to imagine but I think he can do it. Either way I'll be happy if he scores 25 goals but I think he'll blitz his own record. I also see Mane and Firmino scoring more as well though, our midfield has improved dramatically already and will just help out the front three even more but again, either way I'll be happy. We're going for that title next season!

Good to see you Aray! maybe I've missed some of your posts but not seen you around for a bit mate!

I think he can still get 30 goals this season, he's a class act and is always going to be dangerous and with the players he has around him he will find the space.

Same here. He is a winger, if he gets 15 he has done well.

I think he is a magic player and every thing he hit last season went in. I thought he was lucky until that city game where he scored from 40 yards. That was difficult to do. I realised that night what a player we had.

Wouldn't be surprised if the player of the year reached an even better rally than last year although I reckon about 20/ 25.

Thanks Mo! Oh I've been around, but focused on the World Cup. Watched every single game. And I now make a conscious effort not to get involved too often on the "friendly" debates on here. I hope you don't take it too personally about my goal tally projections 😉. Hope you beat Rush's record with us one day.

He didn't convert anywhere near 50% of his clear cut chances.

Hopefully this season he will learn from his mistakes and convert more of the chances that fall his way.

Problem is some players just have this thing, where you can't trully stop them. Robben, coutinho, Ronaldo, kane etc. You know what they want to do but they do it anyway.

The problem most teams will face and we will benefit from is the stronger we get and the more weapons we have then marking Salah might seem like a good idea but then we have mane, firmino, fekir and keita to smack 1 in the net and all you need is 1 that first goal to unlock any team.

He will Be fine and I think very very very angry about the curtail to last season and he will be gunning for success but particularly champions league success, stleast for a face off with Ramos.

Oh and now that breaking the records etc have gone I think he will be a lot more free in his decision making.

I think he will score less but we will see more goals from midfield.

I think we lost goals from the midfield when couts left, I think between hendo Milner gini can and Ox we can't have had more than 15 probably fewer. Obviously the front three were magical but if Keita fekir maybe and shaqiri can supplement what coutinho gave us and whatever Salah and maybe 10 for Salah - then if he gets extra that's a bonus. Personally think mane will get more this season than last.

I think he'll score probably a little less but not much.

When you consider how many chances he had and missed at the start of the season there are clearly a lot more goals in him, if he had had his end of season confidence at the start he would've scored 5 or 6 more at least.

However, I also think that he will play a slightly different role this season. With Fekir likely I think he will play more advanced than any of the midfielders from last year and as such Mane and Salah are likely to have to play more as orthodox wingers and play a bit deeper than before.

As such Salah will likely not get the same number of chances he did last year. But I still expect him to score 25-30 as he has a habit of getting into scoring positions, and you don't lose that over a summer.

Ed01, do you think other premier teams will have a better go at City this season. So many seemed resigned to lose last season and made little to no effort against them. I think we will score more points this season but to be closer we need other teams to try against City.

{Ed001's Note - I would hope so, they must have seen how City struggled when teams attacked them and drawn the sensible conclusion.}

He will be marked tightly next season which will give our other 2 forwards and our midfield more space, but I still expect him to score in the high 20s. He was an absoult bargain and he was only our third choice thank God the other 2 weren't available.

I think last season he had a desire and determination to prove people wrong. It spurred him on and the more goals he got, the more he wanted. Then all the goalscoring records came into view and he had something more to try for, to the point where he became almost too selfish. This season he might have a little less drive in terms of personal achievements since he's already won all the personal awards on offer. However, since its been so long since we've won something as a team, I hope his determination to right that particular wrong will see him score at least 20 in the league.

I think Mo will have a slightly more central role this season than how he started last season. Depending on how our new midfielders adapt to the PL it could even be more goals.

If Salah scores 30 goals in all comps next season, we should be lucky as heck. It will be up to the midfielders and other forwards to carry the load. We need to up our goals tally from everyone other than the front 3 or 4. That should be the target.
