I think shaqiri could be a shrewd piece of business, last year we were crying out for some quality on the bench and I think shaqiri is a strong squad player. I know there are some worries regarding his attitude etc. But I think klopp can sort that and he can be an important player for us next season.

Lets hope so.

So the youngsters don't get their chances then? again?

Somebody on here the other day, paulinho made a great point. When the Shaqiri rumours first came out almost everybody on this site was against such transfer, now? almost everybody are for it lol what happened? did more people watch him at the World Cup and suddenly he's good enough for Liverpool?

It frustrates me when we have youngsters crying out for their chance yet somebody like Shaqiri of all people get's ahead of them? I don't care how anybody looks at this, it's wrong and it's as simple as that.

If he does sign, I'll support him like any other incoming player but I don't think it's a good bit of business at all.

{Ed002's Note - I guess there will be those supports who think that perhaps getting Harry Wilson on loan as part of the transfer (which is what Stoke want) means they have the better deal?}

Would of been nice to have him off the bench when Salah was injured in the final.

I think if Klopp thought Wilson or our other young wingers had a real chance with us the Shaqiri deal wouldn't be happening. That is unless it's expected Mane or Salah leave in the next year or two.

I'm more than happy to leave it up to Klopp. If he feels he needs a more experienced player from the bench and not a youth player then so be it. Maybe he thinks they aren't ready and would be better with a loan? Who am I to argue? I don't see Man Utd or City giving loads of chances to youth players last seasonand these are the teams we are trying to catch. It's very difficult for Klopp to do the same when it could back fire on him. If he can get one youth player some Premier League experience as he did with Arnold I will be more than happy. My hunch would still be Woodburn, just a hunch mind.

I have my concerns with Harry Wilson going to stoke on loan. Can't see them playing football that would be good for his career. He will more than likely watch the ball go over his head with long balls in the championship.

Shaqiri is better than the youngsters we have and loads of people always cry out for more quality depth in order to competitive so I think that this signing makes us stronger than playing one of our youngsters/ giving them a chance. I expect one of ojo Kent and Wilson to be 4th choice winger and will get their chance in cup games.

Exactly Ed2 and that is what's so frustrating. I have previously said how I believe Wilson going out on loan would be good for him (in the PL) for one more season but if it came down to choosing Wilson or Shaqiri for next season it'd be Wilson without any doubt.

Our youngsters time and time again don't get the chances they deserve and it's becoming increasingly annoying especially when we're linked with players like bloody Shaqiri but people seem to be happy we go and spend all that money on a player to warm the bench.

I just hope Wilson doesn't end up at Stoke as part of the deal, that'd be terrible in my opinion sending him to the Championship again? if he's going to go anywhere at least put him in the Premier League, I think he's earnt that right, or one would've thought anyway.

As Ed1 says further down the page, what is the point in the academy if we're going down this route? it makes zero sense.

{Ed002's Note - You cannot simply "put" players in the Premier League. However, I understand there is a lot of interest in Wilson and less so in Ojo.}

Salah I agree that it's not a signing I'm too happy about but if it's happening then there's nothing we can do to stop it so may as well get behind it and hope for the best.

Ha, I know what your sentiments are but the phrase 'crying out for quality on the bench' still sounds ridiculous. We need quality on the pitch. That's just me being pedantic because it made me smile.

Shaqiri comes and gives a nice back up option for Mane and Salah and Wilson gets a loan to a side looking for promotion and next year he can compete with Salah Mane and Shaqiri for 2 places.
