Random question, I understand if Ed’s don’t answer! Just had a great chat with my air bnb guest while watching the England game. Said he was a big Liverpool fan back in the day, fellow Aussie Craig Johnston was his favorite player. A great midfielder he said, only 21 so wasn’t aware of him. Just wondering if any of the Ed’s or readers of this site remember him or watched him back then. Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - I loved him when I was a kid. He had the energy of Kante and big floppy hair, and was a great guy too.}

Marketed and possibly invented the predator football boot I think.

{Ed001's Note - invented. He came up with idea from table tennis bats if I remember correctly.}

Great player, basically self taught. Turned up in England wanting to be a pro-footballer but was rubbish. So he trained and worked his ass off and turned himself into a top player for the champions. Won the double, scored in FA cup final and produced the Anfield Rap.

Top player, great hair. His shorts were really short classic 80s look. I loved him as a kid. Was his hair a perm?

Watched him play as well, Ed. He was brilliant. Never stopped running, worked hard off the ball and gave his all every time I saw him play. One of my fav. players growing up supporting LFC.

Craig Johnston was a really hard working player who gave everything and became an important member of the team and he also came across as a genuinely top bloke

One of the good guys.

He left football to look after his sister can't remember exactly what was wrong with her but she was poorly at the time. His last game was the '88 cup final. I remember Peter Beardsley giving him a right rollicking for running offside while we were 1 down, very funny.

Incredible player made the very best of his gift, I believe he stopped playing to take of his ill sister in Australia. If it’s correct as I remember then the real mark of the man, lfc legend who gave his all.

He was the inventor of the predator boots, he got shafted over a deal a couple of years later and ended up loosing his bo**ocks. Was a brilliant player for us his energy was infectious but as far as I can remember he only played football until he was 26 and retired I think he went back to look after a family member.

Craig Johnston. The headless chicken, I remember him being described as. Loved him, Even tho he wasn't the most talented but he was part of a team of winners.

He joined around the same time as Ronnie Whelan. Craig came from Middlesbrough and Ronnie from Home Farm.

Still is a great man. I had the privilege of meeting him on two seperate occasions at A League games here in Newcastle in Australia. Great bloke and spent time with my kids giving advice and taking heaps of pics. Has long grey hair now tied back in a pony tail. Absolute legend and doesn't mind a beer!
