Regarding Shaqiri, if he signs he signs; I don't see the parallel between Ox and Robbo. They were always hard working players trapped in underperforming teams. Shaqiri is an underperforming player trapped in a hard working team. It's the complete opposite.

Nonetheless, I'll give him my support and hope Klopp can turn his career around. First thing is to get him to drop a lot of the excess muscle weight he is carrying and then they just need to get him playing for the team and not himself. There is ability in there and if any one can find It, Klopp is the guy I'd back.

Does the muscles not help make up for his smaller size? When you have 6+ feet of defenders I would assume he uses the muscles to his advantage.

I think the ox and Robbo comparison comes from how dead set against most fans were with them signing. I agree his attitude is a worry but people were wrong before and could be proved wrong again.

I’ll reserve judgement on him and see how he gets on.

Walter, Salah can roll Harry Maguire like a school girl despite being built like Side Show Bob. Aggression and using your body well, coupled with lean muscle is more than enough to win a physical battle. Kante single handedly pasted Witsel, Fellaini and Dembele yesterday night and their combined mass is probably 5 times what he weighs.

You don't have to be built like Gimli Son of Gloin, to shrug off a big cumbersome lump. Shaqiri needs to lose muscle weight, simple as that really. Klopp will tell him straight as well, just like he did when Joe Gomez came back looking like a body builder.

Great posts, MK. If Klopp wants Shaq then great BUT people should stop bigging him up and making excuses for him just cos LFC will sign him as that is just dishonest. Why? Based on his record (or lack thereof), had any of the top 6 teams signed Shaq, we would all be laughing at them, wondering what said team was smoking for signing such an average, overrated, conceited and flat out, under-achieving player.

Using Ox or Robbo is a false argument cos their attitude, work ethic and determination to be great, was not the issue. I did not want Ox or Robbo cos he was dreadful at Arsenal (Robbo still had a tonne to prove) and did not know what they offered, not cos their attitude stunk, had big egso or were conceited under-achieving flop. That should be the distinction here. If Shaq comes, he has my support just like Ox and Robbo got when they signed and I agree, he needs to lose some weight starting with that big head of his cos he won't last 20 mins in our system with the amount of "rondeur" he is working with up top and in the mid-area.
