If the rumours are true and Klopp is sticking with Karius then that is ridiculous. We’ve thrown away 10 league points already. This shows that Klopp has blind loyalty and is not ruthless enough. This is his fourth season now and he has taken us to 3 finals and lost them all. We should be looking for a keeper as priority not sticking with Karius who is not up to the job.

Hardly ridiculous, and quite fickle of you. Our performances and defense improved dramatically when VVD arrived, but let's also remember that Karius became first choice around the same time. Karius still has his flaws but he is still very young for a keeper and improving with each game. He deserves a chance to redeem himself.

Is this final thing going to be used everytime someone doesn't agree with one of Klopps decisions?

{Ed002's Note - Weirdly enough the big issue is missing. Not whether Liverpool should give Karius anoth chance, but whether Karius should give the Liverpool trash that made death threats to him and wished cancer on his children another chance. What happens if he drops a cross in game two - just like those dropped by Courtois and De Gea in the same gameweek - cancer, death, what? Regardless who the goalkeeper is, he stands little or no chance at Liverpool in front of the relentlessly demanding fans. Liverpool may not be able to afford the Oblak's and Allison's, or perhaps the fans cannot spell their names, but where is the attraction for these guys?}

05 Jul 2018 22:00:11
What's ridiculous is so called fans going against him because he made mistakes in that final, it's pathetic and it's getting old. Move on and support the lad because if he is our number one then he needs our support more then ever.

4.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:20:18
Yet it’s ok to criticise Mignolet who is also our player 🤨.

5.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:25:48
Agree wholeheartedly with Ed002 and Salah. Again everyone needs to remember it is only a game. Family first, wishing death and misfortune on anyone over a game is just plain ignorant.

6.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:27:28
Karius let two very soft goals in in the champions league final but let's be honest he was very lucky it wasn't a lot more over the course of the season. He started poor where his errors cost goals got dropped and when he came back into the team made some decent saves fair enough but the errors were still there, luckily for him they didn't always lead to goals scored. Feel for the lad getting death threats that's a total lack of class from our fans but the lads simply not good enough unfortunatley.

7.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:35:24
It's almost as if Karius wasn't part of our best season in a decade 😐.

8.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:37:40
Where are you getting 10 points from? Did you just make it up?

9.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:45:02
He may well have been but djimi traore was also part of our last most successful camoaign.

10.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:46:07
Ron don’t be flippant

We’re talking about death threats and personal abuse here are we not? Hardly comparable to “Mignolet is pants and can’t catch a cross”.

11.) 06 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:51:05
the people wishing death on people or cancer to people’s children are not Liverpool fans or football fans or whatever their job may be in life. They are scum and would be writing this sort of rubbish regardless of their so called allegiance to a team.

There are hundred of thousand Liverpool fans maybe millions worldwide who are good law abiding decent people. The idiots that write this rubbish are vermin.
I do feel though that unfortunately regardless of how well he does next season he is always just one mistake away from giving these utter persons the airtime the small little idiots believe they deserve.

I also hope for his own sake he leaves. For what it’s worth I don’t think he is good enough if we want to challenge for a title but the man seems decent and should be treated with respect.

Absolutely spot on Ed2.

13.) 06 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:14:23
Great reply ed.
Am I disappointed we haven't bought a world class keeper yes will it cost us points I'm sure it will but when people say disgusting ridiculous things involving a players family it passes me off an embarrassed to say I'm a Liverpool fan. YNWA 96.

14.) 06 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:14:39
Can’t argue with ed2 on this one at all. If I had death threats with every mistake I made at work the postman would a fairly sizeable trolly.

15.) 06 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:17:01
Well said Ed002. Opinions are one thing, but the threats and cancer wishes are disgusting. We are all passionate about our teams, and want to know about transfers, goings on, feel elated with wins and despair in defeat but at the end of it all people seem to forget one thing. It’s a game.

16.) 06 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 22:29:04
Ed what got said was ott but mate it was the champions league final. The champions league final.

In sports teams it gets overly heated bit the Colombia players have been told to not go hom. It's not just liverpool fans.

I don't think klopp should give him another chances for the lads sake. He is going to make another mistake but at liverpool it world circle the world!

{Ed002's Note - I can't see it being a great rationale for the extreme that he was playing in the CL final. If you truly think that true, then you have to question why anyone else would be interested in the job.}

17.) 06 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 23:31:19
Actually, Navy, 002 brought up the death threats etc when the OP just said he was unhappy with the idea of Karius staying as number 1. It was a few horrible people that the rest of us don't call fans. That is what Twitter is rife with. Talk about tarring us all with the same brush.

18.) 06 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 23:38:40
Anyone else think there is absolutely no difference between Mignolet and Karius?

19.) 06 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 23:45:32
Let’s not forget that Migs was given ages to prove he was right for the job. Karius has half a season.

20.) 06 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 23:46:27
YNWA?

21.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 00:15:29
Ed002, just read through your comments and you’ve got the nail on the head. The fact that Karius is back and wanting to fight for his place after the utterly vile things that were said about him speaks volumes. At the end of the day do we pillory Gerrard for his slip? No? So let’s give Karius a chance. We’re not buying Oblak or Becker and Klopp is backing Karius.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know the deal but if Karius is going to try and make a go of it he moves to near the top of the respect list.}

22.) 06 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 23:25:25
Mk, he wasn't, Mignolet was our keeper in our best session for a decade.

23.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 00:21:30
As wrong as any death threat is, I'm sure Karius won't let a small number of scum keyboard warriors on Twitter have any bearing on where he plays his football.

24.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 00:26:04
I thinks Karius knows more than anyone what he has to do this season, and what is expected of him, I’m sure he and Klopp has talked in depth about what happened in the final and the aftermath. If, as we are led to believe he will be our number one keeper, every aspect of his performances this season will be under intense scrutiny, so those vultures circling overhead will be ready to swoop at the slightest error to begin their tirade of vile abuse again. Can he rise to the challenge, only time will tell, I wish him luck, by god he’s going to need it.

25.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 00:58:12
to clarify I didn't mean to justify it by saying well it was the champions league final, I meant it was a very very intense situation, a lot of hearts where broken that night and we got a loss from mistakes, along with having Ramos laughing at us when he suolexed Salah, to then go and lift the trophy with the smugest bastard grid. Just a very very tough night for all.

I apologise on behalf of liverpool fans to karius but understand there sentiments aswel but no-one should say some of the things that where said.

26.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 01:15:47
Yep, again can not disagree. After what happened I’d like nothing more than for him to come back stronger and I think the fact he’s not prepared to give up speaks volumes.

27.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 01:57:38
To be fair karius has no choice but to go again with us. Where on earth does he go on the back of that match.

28.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 01:33:46
Is op harry.

29.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 05:36:05
If we ditched every player who made a big mistake we wouldn't have a team. It was the media saying "Karius is finished" the club never said anything like that. You can't sell a player for one bad game.

Karius is quite a good keeper, and has the potential to be really really good. He has some invaluable European experience now and I bet he is more careful from now on.

30.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 07:59:22
Kloppsboss the hypocrite :

"I don't think klopp should give him another chances for the lads sake. He is going to make another mistake but at liverpool it world circle the world! "

"To be fair karius has no choice but to go again with us. Where on earth does he go on the back of that match. "

Flip flop much lad?

31.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 08:26:01
Mignolet is 29 and has had about 5 years of chances.

Karius is 24 and hasn't even had 30 league games yet.

Mignolet has proven repeatedly that despite improving and being a nice bloke, he won't ever be good enough for a top side. Karius has proven in patches that he could be good enough.

The difference is that the Mignolet detractors aren't basing their entire argument on one second half of a football match, nor are they sending death threats, nor are they questioning him as a person for posting photos of his new coffee shop all over the internet, nor are they saying he totally useless or will get Klopp the sack, and nor are they asking him to retire early 🤔 It's completely incomparable.

I'm sure the Karius haters will say that it isn't based on one half of football, but if that is the case, where were you all before the Champions League final? If people want to be fickle, they should wear it with pride and stop pretending they are something they're not; because the rest of us aren't stupid and can see full well that the opinions changed overnight 🤷‍♂️

The Mignolet comparison that a few people are making sounds like desperate clutching at straws to justify a witch hunt against Karius, a younger and better player whose had at most a quarter of the time to prove himself as Mignolet has had.

Putney, I disagree that 13/ 14 was our best season in a decade. We had no other competition to worry about and still threw away the title. I do take your point though that Mignolet was a part of a very good season. That is yet more proof that you can do well in spite of your goalkeeper though so it doesn't really support the argument of it being cricial to get Karius out, even if you do believe he is as at the same level as Mignolet.

32.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 00:19:02
The original poster never mentioned death threats or abuse. It’s a small minority of idiots who would stoop to that level and frankly the world gets them idiots in every section of it both in and away from football and clubs. However there is nothing wrong with the posters opinion that Karius isn’t good enough, I agree with him, I’ve watched more than enough of him and people saying get behind him are the same people who will be annoyed (and rightly so) when he has poor games. Our squad is strong, if we could make one signing that would really improve our team it would be a goalkeeper, there’s no denying that fact and it’s ok to say without people assuming they’re throwing abuse or death threats at Karius.

33.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 08:52:45
Great post MK, completely agree with everything there mate, well said.

34.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 09:38:18
Flash the red.

I've said that klopp shouldn't give him another chance for his sake? As it's going to be more pressured than those typing the nuclear lauch codes.

I've said that karius has no choice but to accept the club's decision and to be fair were was he going to go anyway if we did sell.

You are a tool mate.

35.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 09:45:18
Get him out he's dreadful. I hope he just requests to leave.

36.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 12:46:07
MK, looking back 08/ 09 was better than 17/ 18 and 13/ 14 but I can't sit with an argument that a drain where we came fourth was our best.

Just in case you're including me in the 'where we the doubters before the final' I have a long history of doubting him. Around March my view was softening but the mistakes against Roma and then the final mean't I'm back to believing we need someone better.
