Heared Shaqiri is at melwood to complete the second part of his medical, if true I'm not overly excited, Why buy a player for the intention of putting him on the bench? If that's the case just stick with Wilson, or go buy a player who's going to walk into the first team straight away and give theblikes if Salah and mane a real battle for a place, players play their beatbwhen they know someone could instantly take their spot, that wouldn't be the case for Shaqiri, he's not on Salah or names level, not even close, I'd of preferred to forget about Fekir, forget about Shaqiri, and try sign Oblak, that's our real main issue, not knocking Karius but he's 1 mistake away from total chaos and I really don't think he is good enough, nor mignolet or wars for that matter, GK is a really big problem at the moment which really needs addressing.

I think Shaqiri will suprise quite a few doubters in a positive way. Everything he needs, Klopp excels at instilling. There have been numerous players down the years who have changed their tune under Klopp's guidance. I think he could be a big player for us. (not just a bench player)

Today it is the birthday of the NHS 70 years young. It has to be worth investing in the future so £70.000.000 for a goalie is a great investment. Dave.

I kinda see your point, JMAC.

However, we as a group of fans really want a serious tilt at the title, right?

We're well on the way to a title winning team with a lat of our first team, especially now with Nab and Fab added.

However, last season we struggled with bench depth and options.

If Klopp and his team think Shaqiri is a better option for bench and rotation than, say, Wilson for next year, then I'd rather go with them. Much as I'd love to develop all of our youth prospects, I really, really want us to win something! If we don't, we risk yet another squad breakup, yet more years 'in transition' etc.

We should strike whilst the iron's hot, and if Klopp thinks Shaqiri helps us do that, well I'll wait to be pleasantly surprised!

By and large, like you, I would prefer we added players who are clearly on a par with or better than our first team, but we can't afford to do that every year like City or others. We have to spend most wisely to make another step forward in 2018/ 19 to be able to spend wisely again.

BBC are suggesting Man U are considering a bid. Sounds a bit Wesley Sneijder to me where a player is rumoured to be going to different PL clubs only to end up in Turkey or somewhere.

This makes no sense, there is NOT many players out there currently better than Mane and Salah, you are forgetting they were part of the most prolific front 3 in Europe last season. Why would you want to break that up? Why would we also spend 100m+ on such a player when there are more urgent positions that need filling. This is more about in the late game when we need someone to come on and make an impact we have a player who we can rely on to do something, not a child still learning the games. Shaqiri might not be everyone's cup of tea, but he can score goals and i think will do well for us as a back up and give Mane and Salah some rest when needed!

That's what I'm hoping dave sulls. That klopp can get him inspired. If he has any sense he will know this could be his last Chance at the very top level and he realises he still has a lot to prove. Coz he does. I'm far from convinced by him and don't remember being so underwhelmed by a potential signing. If klopp can get him fit and inspired, I admit, he could be good. Look how much weight the ox lost and look how good he was when many people were doubting him.
