Bit disappointed looks like Leno in advanced talks with Arsenal. let that one get away. Think he would be a fab signing to be fair. for me Allison is over rated, Oblak looks out of reach, Cillessen not great.
Not a lot of options left but Butland has errors in him and pre injury 2 years ago I would have snapped him up.
For debate. Timo Horn, Cillessen, Butland
Who would you prefer?

None of the above.

I'd go for Butland out of those 3. He's still young enough to improve and he knows the league. The very top echelon of goalkeepers are either happy where they are or would be too expensive.

Out of the 3 named. I would go 1 Horn. 2 Butland, 3 cillesen.
Plenty of good goalkeepers around Strakosha, Lafont, Handanovic, Donnaruma, Arizzabalaga, Scuffet, Fahrmman.

I don't rate Allison as much as anybody else here. tbf i didn't watch much of him but what i saw didn't make me believe he is worth the price they are asking for.

Same with donnarumma. The times i saw him play he made major errors and would his name be Karius he would have been slaughtered right away.

Also Horn is of your list because he just signed a long term contract with Köln when they relegated.

I actually like Clissen or Butland or even Trap (PSG) because there is room for improvement for all of them and there is actually a fight for the no1 spot. If we bring in a big name then there won't be any competition whatsoever.

I would go with the name you havnt mentioned! Karius, as I said in a post after the final, he will not want to feel the way he did after that game ever again, with hard work on his concentration levels and distribution I believe we could still have a top keeper in him . And once again a huge debate could begin on what and who you would define as top class, if the 2 obvious names are unreachable let's stick with karius, get behind him support him, let's not spend money on a keeper that is not going to be a major improvement.

Perhaps bro. but not sure he is mentally strong enough to recover and some Liverpool fans will be on his back/ nervous the first time he makes another mistake.

I take your point, however I would like to think that Liverpool fans will get behind whoever wears the jersey . fortune favours the brave, in addition I'd love to see him bounce back be Germany's number 1 for the next 10 years and ram didi's
Criticism down his throat!

I empathise with your defence of Karius but there should be no emotion in picking players. Karius not good enough at the moment but still young. The high profile errors unfortunately will put pressure on him both home and especially away. He doesn’t need that. He needs to go on loan in another league, play good football, win some accolades and rejoin us as our solid no 2, and wait for his chance again. Meanwhile as we are considered in the top 6 elite, we need a keeper of equivalent talent of our rivals. Not impressed in Allisson, not many of the names mentioned seem that great but would accept Butland as a option since he need only be a reliable competent keeper, to save what should be saved, nothing more complex than that.

Crammie, Cillessen and Trapp are both terrible keepers. Poor on crosses, poor judgement and positioning and woeful distribution. Becker is light years ahead of them. It’s fair to say that Cillessen is one of the worst starting number ones that the Netherlands have ever had. It shows the lack of quality that they have that he’s their numbed one. Remember, he’s the keeper that van Gaal substitutes for a penalty shoot out as he didn’t think he had the ability or the bottle for it.

This must be a joke. Some people want us to sign Cillesen who has barely played a game in two years or Butland who is where he not English, no one would care for him as he is error prone, injury prone and well, an overrated GK who was at Stoke for a reason. That makes NO sense.

This is the reality. None of the GK's mentioned are good enough for us long term and signing either of them would set us 3 years back cos you are AGAIN, starting from square one cos the GK will need time to bed in hence, mistakes will happen then, the knives will be out saying, "We should have sjust stuck with Karius". I can see it now cos you know, the hindsight geniuses are never wrong.

As someone already said, if you can't get Allisson which was never going to happen as Ed02 said months ago, NO BANDAIDS. We stick with Karius and I am sure that is what Klopp will do if he can't get the true long term fix for the position. Remember, Karius was HIS signing and judging by the way he eased him in this season, don't be surprised if he does it again next season. People talking like they are sure he will not mentally recover from the CL final should calm down cos they know nothing about the future. Whether he has the mental fortitude to overcome what happened in that final, there is ONLY one way to find out.

Karius.
