MK, curious on your thoughts of the match.

MKs still staring at his blank tv screen in complete shock. Give him a couple more days.

MK’s probably writing one larger than a single Banter page, the Eds are scratching their heads on how to split it across pages.

Ramos did the dirty on Salah in my opinion and up to that point we were the better side but buggered up 5 gilt-edged chances. I don't think Ramos meant to hurt him that badly by the way, I think he just wanted to rough him up a bit. They were kicking him from behind up to that point but Ramos lost his head and took it too far. I had to laugh this morning when I saw that an MMA expert had analysed the throw! That says it all.

However, that is no excuse for losing. The reason we lost is because Real Madrid brought on Bale and Asensio to change the game, and we bought on Lallana and Can.

I don't blame Karius for the defeat. He made a mistake for the first goal (though I consider that to be very unsportsmanlike what Benzema did, Karius didn't need to throw it to him) . What disappointed me after that though was that out of all these supposed great leaders in our team (Hendo, Milner, Virgil etc) not one player went to Karius to get his head up. They all turned their backs on him and let him rot in his own thoughts.

Karius never recovered from knowing his team mates blamed him and for that reason, I think the whole team and especially the captain are responsible for the third goal because his head wasn't right.

Ultimately, there were 3 scrappy goals in the game, and one absolute stunner. When Bale scored that over head kick I stood up and clapped it. It is the best CL final goal I've ever seen and it ultimately proved to be the match winner. The team that scored the only good goal of the game won so that is that.

These things happen and we have to move on. No point dwelling on the Ramos incident or Karius mistakes. Just put it behind us and go again next season.

On a side note, I thought the effort and heart shown by Robertson, Lovren and Mane was incredible. None of them deserved to be on the losing side. It is a shame the other players were too busy feeling sorry for themselves that Salah had to go off injured. Mane really looked like what they did to Salah only made him want it more. That is the attitude we need and he became my favourite player by the end of the game. If we had 10 outfield players with Mane's attitide on the pitch on Saturday night, we wouldn't be talking about Karius at all. We'd be celebrating.

You'll Never Walk Alone is an important mantra though. You never blame one person. Win as a team. Lose as a team. At 1-1 we were back in the game but the lack of compassion shown to Karius after the first error proved fatal. Besides, why didn't we stop them getting a cross to Bale, and why did Bale get a free shot from 25 yards when there were two players less than 10 yards away?

We weren't good enough. Our bench wasn't strong enough. Klopp got it wrong. But who cares? Did anybody here expect to get a Champions League runners up medal after we drew 3-3 with Watford last August? We over achieved this season.

Focus on how you felt when Mane scored the equaliser. The euphoria and happiness etc. When anyone else tries to wind you up, just remember that whilst they were watching as a neutral, we got to experience THAT outpour of emotion because at least we got to the final.

There are bigger things in life than football. Fingers crossed Salah and Carvajal make the World Cup 👍.

You’ve properly cheered me up there MK, haven’t seen anybody sum it up as well as that. We win together, we lose together. On to greater things YNWA.

Can’t argue with that. Agree with your summary. Although I couldn’t care two hoots about Carvajal if I’m honest.

Top post MK.

I felt it more yesterday than on the Saturday.

Mane, Robbo, Lovren all put their heart and soul into the game. Hope Karius will be okay though. Might be good to bring someone in to deflect the pressure, but I'm always behind players who want to stay and prove they are the best player in that position at the club. I think Salah going off had 2 massive effects, firstly shocked our players a bit, him going off isn't an excuse to lose the game, but you could see psychologically it had a bit of an effect, secondly Marcelo probably laughed a little inside with Lallana coming on due to the fact he's not the same danger as salah so he knew he could get more up the pitch without worrying as much and just got Madrid back into a game which was all Liverpool up until then.

Was a very good goal off Bale, reckon it will be goal of the season, unless someone does something similar in the world cup final to win it.

Overall i felt a massive improvement this season to last, If we recruit well in the summer. Very exciting season going forward :)

YNWA.

That moment when we equalised will be with me forever. I took my dad to the game, ultimate moment that was together whilst we screamed in each other’s faces, utter euphoria. I was believer!
The lack of depth on the bench was telling and ultimately the best team in the day provailed.
My thoughts are with Karius, no resentment whatsoever YNWA.
We are on the rise and Europe should be scared.
Our fans are the best in the world, we’ve shown that against the supposed biggest team in the world when we took over the stadium! As long as we are competing on the biggest stage we’ll have success, this just wasn’t our time yet!

Glad to have cheered you up AW. I know it hurts right now, but before the game literally everyone on here was saying "win or lose I'm proud of my team".

We can't all change our tune just because of a bit of raw emotion. We were proud no matter what happened before the game, so let's honour our pre-match words 💪.

Glad you and your father got to share that moment Redwin! No other fans in England got to celebrate a Champions League final goal like we did 😉 like you, that is a memory that I will cherish. The old saying is nobody remembers who came second, but that is not true. We will! ❤.

I agree Alistair. It'll win the Puskas award for the calendar year unless Messi or Ronaldo score a screamer in the World Cup final.

Thank you MK for a lovely post mate, you know the meaning my man!

I'm sorry but what is unsportsmanlike about putting the ball in the net from open play? If it was a throw in, it would be no different.
