First pochettino said he wanted real to beat us because we are their main rivals, now gary neville says he wants us to lose so united fans including himself don't endure a season of hell as he put it.

My question is, if the shoe was on the other foot would you root for spurs or united purely because they are english or would you hope they got stuffed by real?

16 May 2018 17:13:44
I'd hope both teams would get hammered. None of this English team nonsense.

2.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 17:15:40
If it was United I'd want them to get smashed, if it was any other English team I'd be rooting for them, well apart from Everton but they'd never get to such a level ;)

I just can't stand anything about RM so I'd be for most teams to beat them but as I say just not United.

{Ed025's Note - pint of bitter for salah me thinks..

3.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 17:29:20
Personally I'd find it harder to stomach if it was United but pretty much any other team I would be supporting. I was hoping Arsenal would go further in the Europa League. Just think its good for English football in general.

In terms of comments made by Poch and Neville. just goes to show how successful our season could become if we win it. Pretty unclassy comments to make publicly on both sides.

4.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 17:37:45
Couldn’t care less about any other team. They have their own fans.
It would make it a bit less tasty if bitters like Neville and Poch were rooting for us. Bring on the haters 💪.

5.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 17:43:45
Totally agree with Ron. I concentrate on one team and one team only.

6.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 17:47:36
Anyone apart from United. Let’s face it, there’s no danger or Spurs or Arsenal winning it anyway. Man City have never won it, and Chelsea have only won it once! All small clubs in the Europe game! YNWA 5*****.

7.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 17:52:51
Hate both spurs and Man Utd so I’d want both to lose. Now if say Leicester had got to the final in their campaign I’d have supported them. Fully get where Neville is coming from he’s a die hard manc. Poch though, us winning the final should have no direct impact on him so it shouldn’t matter.

8.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 17:56:40
I would support a British team in Europe, but probably wouldn’t watch the game.

Even *spit* Man U.

Got to admit I was happy for them in 1999, and it was paid forward in 2001 when we not only beat Alaves, but sucker punched arsenal late on too.

Karma 😌.

9.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 17:57:44
I'd want Spurs to win purely because Ramos annoys the hell out of me.

{Ed0333's Note - I always want our Premier League rivals to lose any major game. Arsenal, Spurs, UTD, City, Chelsea unless they were playing each other of course. And then I would only want Arsenal winning because I loved Aresene Wenger and City because they are buying heritage, status, success and history and that doesn’t really count.

10.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 18:10:27
In the years gone by, I would have supported Spurs but not anymore. I don't know wethers that's a reflection of Spurs actually being a rival these days or wether they're just less likeable. Would never support Man Utd. As LeeWils elegantly put it "None of this English team nonsense" (But I'm also Irish and that's one of our national tagline's)

11.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 18:15:13
I'd root for any of the English sides in Europe except for Man United.

{Ed025's Note - jealousy is a terrible trait to have..

12.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 18:32:30
Doubt he's particularly jealous at the minute Ed025 haha.

{Ed025's Note - not winning the title since the formation of the premier league could make some jealous eamon, especially as united have won it numerous times mate..

13.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 18:33:00
I wouldn’t worry. Every time I’ve watch United they’ve been smashed on Europe. As for Spurs.

Can you actually mention Spurs and Europe on the same breath?!?! 😜😜.

14.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 18:52:00
Not really bothered, lose all interest in cup finals if we aren’t involved.
I think most English opposition fans want us to lose as they simply fall further behind our UCL haul if we win, again 😝
I feel the same about Manchester United winning the prem coz that would keep increasing the gap on titles head to head.
Think everyone has their own personal favourites, don’t mind and dislikes. I don’t mind City, Arsenal, Everton, don’t like Chelsea coz of Abramovich, Utd - rivalry, Spurs - ‘83 league cup final scumbags with weapons attacked us.
Managers - Wenger respect his achievements, Conte ditto, Pep - plays the victim a bit too much for me, Jose - enough said, Poch - ok, Moyes - key ring troll, Allardyce - horrid, Rafa - legend, Dyche - neutral, Pulis - see Allardyce 😝, Pardue - see Pulis, Puel - decent unassuming, Ranieri - legend, Hughes - hated him as a player, gone down in my estimations since he started managing 😜, Houghton - alright, Bruce - fathead, Warnock - see Donald Trump, Rodgers - fake tan and teeth aka Ray Winston in “sexy beast” 😁, Uncle Wroy - nice man, not top drawer for big club.

15.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 18:53:37
I wouldn’t support a rival so I’d definitely support Spurs.

16.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 19:35:08
I'd prefer United to win it than Spurs because at least they've earned their right to be arrogant. Spurs have won 2 trophies in my lifetime and their fans act like they're serial winners of stuff and deserve tho be named among the elite clubs because they are based in London and get a half decent support. Not for me. they're only going down from here I reckon. In fact I'd choose United to win over any of the London clubs. Like I said, at least they've earned respect, over a long time.

17.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 19:43:40
Probably not a popular opinion but I’d root for Everton it’s always good for the city and it means more playing/ beating your neighbours when they’re doing well, Spurs I wouldn’t mind but I couldn’t be bothered with the media aftermath of how Kane did it all on his own. Arsenal I’d cheer on, but at the minute to stop madrids domination I think as a one off I would have supported any English team bar United, seen a few videos of their ‘fans’ I’ve seen speaking about us in a vile manner (I know it goes both ways) .

18.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 20:03:25
I don't turn the television on unless Liverpool (or Barcelona or Brazil) are playing.

19.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 20:28:53
I only support Liverpool. Could not give a toss about the others, why would I? I don’t think it’s bittter to not want your rivals to win big things.

{Ed025's Note - its a bit twisted if you ask me kate, its like people who hate lottery winners because its not them, did you not enjoy leicester winning the league or wigan winning the cup?...its nice to be important but its also important to be nice..

20.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 20:56:24
Ed0025.

Anyone who knows the history of Manchester United will not be jealous.

{Ed025's Note - im not sure about that drogie mate..

21.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 20:57:09
Quality as always Ed025, class mate. My favourite time was the mid to late ‘80’s when Liverpool and Everton were great rivals and had enormous respect for each other, sadly that may never be repeated with modern attitudes but for the record when we couldn’t win I was made up and proud if Everton did instead. JFT96 was all the mightier for the steadfast support from our blue brethren and I sincerely hope and believe had the roles been reversed we would have done the same for the blues.
Gutted that it’s a sign of the times, the friendly Derby is becoming a thing of the past. Tons of respect for Everton, in the last 20 years our dual declines have coincided- would be brilliant if we could get back to exchanging league titles, FA cups and European titles again.
Remember Wembley singing Merseyside Merseyside together, emotional stuff.
Sod the rest, congratulations to Tranmere being back where they belong, let’s hope Everton and Liverpool get to where we belong also YNWA ⚽️👍.

{Ed025's Note - halcyon times indeed koppite, red and blue scarves together and enjoying a pint afterwards whatever the result set us apart from the rest, sadly thats not the case these days which is a crying shame mate, there are still a lot of good people out there as the JFT96 has proved but the minority of knuckle draggers spoil it for everyone im afraid...very sad..

22.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 21:18:30
Not at all Ed. I support Liverpool. I was pleased for Leicester when they won the league, of course. I haven’t had their fans giving me grief throughout my life tho! It’s all personal opinion. 👍🏻.

{Ed025's Note - it is all about personal opinions kate and there are rivalries in all sport but it gets pretty nasty at times, hating people because they live in a different town or support a different club seems pathetic to me mate, but maybe its me being very old and thinking it would be nice if people could just get along..

23.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 21:53:45
Haha my head was in the clouds thinking of Kiev Ed025, their league results in the decade gone by are certainly something to be jealous of. I was thinking more in terms of the current season (if the final goes our way) as well as the style of football currently being played.

{Ed025's Note - you are head and shoulders above united this season imo eamon ..

24.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 22:02:37
Drogie, not following you mate? Liverpool and Manchester Utd have incredible history. The fact that Shanks and Matt Busby were mates, busby played for Liverpool and Alex Ferguson has attended our UCL games this year tells you the enormous respect the clubs have for each other, it’s why liverpool v Man Utd is considered the game of the season by both clubs yet we have Everton and City on our door steps.
Bill Shankly was asked by two board members of liverpool if he wanted to manage the biggest club in England and his retort was “why has Matt Busby resigned? ”
Mutual respect where it’s due, we don’t like each other but we are the biggest clubs in the uk and both in the top 5 of European football, add Barca, Real Madrid and Bayern to make up the other 3.
All those sides can have unsuccessful periods but the name still reverberates around Europe whenever and wherever they play, the world too.

25.) 16 May 2018
16 May 2018 22:58:29
I'd cheer for Everton if Liverpool were not involved. I don't understand why Liverpool/ Everton fans wouldn't support the local clubs. Maybe because i don't live there I guess.

26.) 17 May 2018
16 May 2018 23:15:14
I think it's pretty sad for English pundits to want a spannish team to beat an English team. If it were spurs or even utd I would go for them over the foreign team.

27.) 17 May 2018
16 May 2018 23:21:53
I wouldn’t support anyone else as it could effect us in future. If Spurs or Utd won the CL they would be a bigger pull for top players which would effect our chances in the league and CL moving forward.
For that reason I’d hope for any English team to absolutely humiliated in the CL final so no decent player would go near them with a barge pole! Also hope it would make some of their own players want to leave too!
It’s all about Liverpool for me.

28.) 17 May 2018
16 May 2018 22:32:28
I agree with the majority of what you have said on this thread Ed25 mate but I'm not bitter mate. I just don't like United BUT I respect them because they are a top club and will always be up there, I don't think many of their fans will want us to win the CL and its the same from our end if they was in the final.

I agree about everybody should just get along, totally mate, some take it far too far. Every team has rivalries, it's part of it but some just take it to that other level. Some forget it's a sport we love and fail to enjoy it and would rather go off the deep and and be stupid about it. I can't stand United but they've been more successful then us and deserve credit! all I was saying is I couldn't root for them if they was in the final. That'd be impossible for me I'm afraid mate lol.

How are you Ed25, I imagine your pretty damn happy tonight after today's news?

{Ed025's Note - im happy that the fraud and charlatan has finally been shown the door salah, he should never have been hired in the first place but the club panicked, now they need to get the right guy to move us forward but this is everton we are talking about so im not holding my breath. rivalry is fine in sport but some take it beyond that and it turns into hatred and thats when the problems start mate, im not mother teresa and asking for world peace or nothing i just wish that fans could come together as one...and pick on milwall.. :)

29.) 17 May 2018

It would depend on whos playing for me. If any other english team were playing juventus and buffon was still there i would probably want juventus to win so he could tick it off his list. Unless it was Everton.

Everton were always a second team of sorts for me growing up. Its pretty sad that they have lost a lot of their identity and i hope they get the right people in going foward. It can easily happen. Its happening to man utd at the minute but the difference is they will always have the money for any complete overhaul that is needed. Everton are a giant that fell asleep and nobody has woke him up. But if i lived in liverpool maybe my thoughts might be different. But being in northern ireland when we were kids growing up any utd and liverpool fans i knew nearly always had everton as a second team. As you grow older the second team thing kind of fades a bit i suppose.

If liverpool aren't in a final i usually root for the underdog. But the way football has developed its almost mandatory to have a bit of feelings of hatred these days even if you try not to. For example i despised chelsea when jose was there and most certainly never wanted them to win anything they were in. He was good value when he first came to england but he got on the nerves rarther quickly.
United i always hated because fergie had them ticking over like a juggernaught. But i always respected their dominance with a kind of awe.
Spurs have become a bit of a gobby kid for me. Does a lot of mouthing off but never backs it up.
I would most certainly have been supporting arsenal in either final this year if they had been in it just so wenger would have had that great send off he deserved.

For the most part though i really like to see the underdog take the trophy. there's a kid of satisfaction seeing that happen.

30.) 17 May 2018
17 May 2018 07:22:25
The club did panic Ed25 it was quite surprising to see him appointed, they should've held out a couple more weeks and got the right man but at least it's happening now mate. Who would you like to take over?

If I was an Everton fan I think I'd be wanting Silva in but I'm a Liverpool fan so I hope he doesn't go lol I think he'd do some magic there.

{Ed025's Note - i would like unai emery myself salah but that looks unlikely but silva or fonseca would do nicely mate..

31.) 17 May 2018
17 May 2018 20:15:44
Yeah any of them three would suit you well Ed25, I'm sure your going to have a better season next season. Good luck to Everton mate. Rivalries aside they deserve some good luck!

One last question, do you see Rooney staying, if so, are you happy about it? to me he's a big lump of lard and an expensive one at that and would be best for your club if he was moved on? He's lost it now and needs to go somewhere like the MLS or China, if somewhere will have him of course.
